Way to go Munch!!!!!

BTW…..does anybody else think it’s ironic that Munch was selected in the 1st round of the draft in 1982….but guess what pick it was?…..#8. (cue weird Twilight Zone music now)

Question:

Let’s say we hire Munchak. He may (hopefully) bring in Bruce Matthews as OL coach. We know Bud’s stance on nepotism and Kevin Matthews is already on this team. If the Titans were so concerned with Gregg Williams possibly bringing his son, how can they be alright with having a father coach his own son?

Lets hope not

One trick is to tell em stories that don't go anywhere - like the time I caught the ferry over to Shelbyville. I needed a new heel for my shoe, so, I decided to go to Morganville, which is what they called Shelbyville in those days. So I tied an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time. Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on 'em. "Give me five bees for a quarter," you'd say. Now where were we? Oh yeah - the important thing was I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time. They didn't have white onions because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones.....

Exactly. Wikipedia is the source of ALL factual information.

Any one of us could go on there right now and edit so that is says

Titans Facebook Profile is just saying they interviewed today
The Titans completed a formal interview today with offensive line coach Mike Munchak for the head coach position.

I think regardless they have to interview someone to comply with the Rooney Rule:

If the Titans do interview Sherman, it would satisfy compliance with the NFL’s Rooney Rule, which requires that a team interview at least one minority for an head-coaching position or senior executive position.

Sounds like someone is jumping the gun

Well from what I gather on the Wikipedia edit page this was added today from someone with an ip address belonging to a Comcast user originating from Nashville, TN.

Ribs. I had ribs for lunch. That's why I'm doing this.

forgive me for being ignorant.

The "Rooney Rule" is a league requirement that a minority candidate must be interviewed for an open coaching position

Before you announce a hiring. I’m not sure if applies to just HCs or all coaching positions. To my understanding, it applies to the HC spot.

This is what it says now:
Michael Anthony Munchak (born March 6, 1960 in Scranton, Pennsylvania) is the offensive line coach of the Tennessee Titans never will be the head coach and a former American football guard who played for the Houston Oilers of the NFL. Munchak was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2001. He is the Tennessee Titans offensive line coach. Munchak played college football for Penn State University, earning his Bachelor of Science in business logistics in 1982. The street running in front of Scranton High School is named for him. He teamed up with Bruce Matthews to have one of the greatest offensive line tandems in NFL history.

Wikipedia needs to make up it’s mind.

Somebody is letting Bud Adams play on wiki again.

"Do the Titans have a miracle left in them in what has been a magical season to this point? If they do, they need it now. Christie kicks it high and short. Gonna be fielded by Lorenzo Neal at the 25; he dishes it back to Wycheck; he throws it across the field to Dyson. 30, 40, 50, 40, 30, 20, 10, 5, endzone...touchdown, Titans! There are no flags on the field! It's a miracle! Tennessee has pulled a miracle! A miracle for the Titans!"

i dont know about u guys

but i would want a fresh face to be the head coach, not someone from our organization. some bad coaching from fisher probably rubbed off on them lol. and btw u guys think munchak will be a good coach?

by Bazzi on Jan 31, 2011 5:10 PM CST reply actions

maybe he shouldn't sign any players too

who needs a full roster when there is a lockout coming
Hell, why draft 1st rounder it cost money. we should just wait and pick 7 in a row at the end of 7th round. (1st rounders are too expansive)

the reply above was not directed to you CJ2k

I’m just pissed that saving money is #1 priority for this team

by LastSd on Jan 31, 2011 5:36 PM CST up reply actions

no worries.I'm starting to believe this is going to be a major rebuild and the more I read about the cba and labor talks . . .

the more I think this is going to be a shortened season. perfect season to suck it up and get the number 1 pick.

by CJ2K shrine on Jan 31, 2011 5:48 PM CST up reply actions

"saving money" is only the "#1 priority"

according to fans that have absolutely nothing to do with the decision. I’m not buying it

i don't understand your comment. why do you think munchak is going to be our next hc? it just seems like a stop gap coach to me.

All the titans fans that I know are hoping for a big splash coach that can rebuild in his image of what he wants a superbowl winning team to be. Instead we get internal juggling of position coaches?!

by CJ2K shrine on Jan 31, 2011 7:52 PM CST via mobile up reply actions

I think that if Munch gets the job

it’s because he is a “comfortable” pick for the organization. I envision business as usual. Fisherball w/o the Fish.

fisherball without fish is still fisherball and we've had 16 years of that so why not go for something a little different?

I think they know in one year a new coach with a new staff will come in so why waste all 13 coaches under contract.

by CJ2K shrine on Jan 31, 2011 8:39 PM CST via mobile up reply actions

maybe

so Munch would be an interim HC w/o “interim” in his title?

i've honestly never heard a press conference where the owners and vps stress

How many different coaches are under contract?! and if there was one coach that should have been demoted this year it should be munchak. Did you see the line play this year?
