I've noticed a lot of speculation, for good reason, on the Titans QB future. However, much of it seems to be in favor of the quick fix. So I ask the eternal question: WHY?
Why sign Carson Palmer?
Why sign Kyle Orton?
Why trade for Matt Flynn?
Carson Palmer and Kyle Orton will never win a Super Bowl as a starter. What good would getting either of them be? So we can go 8-8 again? Come on! Have more vision than that!
Trade for Matt Flynn? I know, I know. The New England game. However, I counter with this:
Tom Tupa -
| 17 | 28 | 60.7% | 312 | 3 | 1 | 119.9 |
| 23 | 39 | 59.0% | 315 | 1 | 0 |
93.4 |
| 31 | 44 | 70.5% | 361 | 2 | 0 |
110.1 |
"What are these," you ask? One game sample sizes of crappy Quarterbacks playing well in one game. It happens. You can't make it to the NFL level as a QB and not be able to do that once in a blue moon. Matt Flynn's game plan was unbelievably limited and well designed. On top of that, New England's defense kind of sucks. Also, the Packers have elite skill position guys, especially on the outside.
The best thing the Titans can do in 2011? Suck. Suck it long. Suck it hard. Finish 2-14. Get the #1 pick. Select Andrew Luck.
THAT'S a real plan. I'd bet any amount of money I have (admittedly, not much) that Andrew Luck will win more Super Bowls as a starter than Carson Palmer, Kyle Orton, and Matt Flynn combined. I'd take a year of 2-14 to get the next Montana/Elway/Brady/Manning.
