The Reality

Bud Adams and Jeff Fisher are sure to sit down on Monday to discuss "the situation," and a choice will be made. Adams has been quoted as saying that both are under contract and will be back next year, but the reality is that this team cannot function with both.

Earlier in the season Fisher finally drew the line the sand, stating publicly that Vince Young would never be the starter in Tennessee again. This is after Bud Adams had stepped in on a couple occasions in recent years and told the head coach to start Young.

On Monday I believe Jeff Fisher will tell Bud Adams that he is resigning. And I don't blame him.

This season it's been easy for everyone to point the finger at our head coach, but I'm blaming the owner. He put our team in a bad position by dictating who we drafted with the third overall pick in the 2006 draft. And now he's going to directly (or indirectly) select this same failed product over our head coach.

This will not end the way everyone thinks it will.

If Fisher leaves and Adams gets to go find himself a new coach, he'll do so with the stipulation that Vince Young would start the season as our quarterback. Seriously, think about how that search will go. Tell me, what coach would take this job knowing they have to keep a malcontent as their quarterback?

Bill Cowher won't.

Jim Harbaugh won't.

Hell, even John Gruden won't.

As long as we have our owner calling the shots with our quarterback situation, we will be the new Oakland Raiders. Read that again. WE WILL be the new Oakland Raiders. That's scary considering the Raiders haven't had a decent coach in years.

It's very possible that Jeff Fisher is the glue that's keeping this whole thing from falling apart. So be careful what you wish for Titans fans, the grass is always greener on the other side.
