What to do with Cookie

I have made a comment on a post before that I thought maybe we should turn Cookie into a wide receiver. I would like to know your opinions so I will state my case here and let you give your opinions.

I first started to have thoughts about cook playing at wide receiver when in the final games of this season I saw many plays where Cook was lined up as a wide receiver instead of as TE. That associated with the fact that his bloccking skills have been the biggest reason why he hasnt got more playing time makes me beleive that maybe the best is to put him at wide receiver and draft another big TE that can help block for CJ like Stevens.

In the first post I mentioned this some showed concerns about if Cook is fast enough to play at wide receiver so I am going to show a couple of comparisons here.

Jared Cook vs Vincent Jackson

Height: 6 ft 5 in (1.96 m) Height: 6 ft 5 in (1.96 m)

Weight: 246 lb (112 kg) Weight: 230 lb (104 kg)

40 time: 4.50 s 40 time: 4.46 s

Vertical: 41 in. Vertical: 39 in.

Both benched 23 times. So very similar physical skills between Cook and Jackson a very good receiver, the number 1 receiver on the Chargers.

Jared Cook vs Marques Colston

Height: 6 ft 5 in (1.96 m) Height: 6 ft 4 in (1.93 m)

Weight: 246 lb (112 kg) Weight: 225 lb (102 kg)

40 time: 4.50 s 40 time: 4.50 s

Vertical: 41 in. Vertical: 37 in.

Colston was projected as a TE coming out of college because of his size. The Saints took a chance on him and now he is their top wide receiver..although with Brees every receiver is treated the same, everybody gets the ball(screwed me up in fantasy)!

To clarify I am not saying that Cook can run routes and catch the ball as well as these two guys! but since we may have an open WR space if we dont get Moss, Gage and Hawk back I think it may be better to put Cook in the WR mix and find a big TE in the draft that can help the running game. A big athletic receiver like him would be a nightmare for defensive backs
