What makes the league suddenly "ready" for a player?

So i've been reading nfl previews and predictions until my eyes fall out because i am a football junkie. The one common thing that i can't get over is that somehow all the teams the Titans play are going to be "ready" for Chris Johnson. What makes them suddenly ready?

Last season, CJ ran for 2006 yards being the only offensive weapon on the team. Why wouldn't teams have been ready for him then? Especially towards the end of the season when everyone knew we only had the record going for us. What difference does a year of tape make when you have no player that can simulate CJ in practice?

I guess my main issue is that this stigma is reserved for certain players. Nobody ever claims that this is the year everyone finally catches on to Adrian Peterson. Or Peyton Manning. You'd think teams have had more time to be "ready" for them right?

Your thoughts?
