Shanahan: Haynesworth Will Be On The Redskins This Sunday
The Washington Post's Jason Reid is reporting Redskins coach Mike Shanahan ruled out a trade happening this week regarding Albert Haynesworth. He said "We've heard all these rumors and speculation...Albert will be with our team on Sunday," but did not discuss further. Adam Schefter of ESPN ($)says that usually trades are not made in the NFL once the gameplan has been given out to the players for the upcoming game, usually around Wednesday.
The Redskins have reportedly been in discussions with the Titans regarding the former All-Pro defensive tackle. Shanahan did not completely rule out a trade happening, but he did lessen the chances of it happening. I think if anything happens, it will at least happen by Week 4.

"What if I was Peyton Manning?"- CJ to the ref after they picked up a personal foul flag for a late hit on him.
I didn't say that because of what Shanahan said.

He will play on Sunday for the Redskins
And he will not be a Titan again.

Gonna go with gramsey on this one.
I can’t see the Titans giving-up more than a single Fourth Round Draft pick (if that high), and I can’t see Washington taking less than a Third.
Add to that the organization’s natural aversion to acquiring players via trade, and I don’t think a deal is coming.
It’s over. Just like every trade rumor that ever gets floated about the Titans acquiring so-and-so from wherever, it was dead from the onset.

My prediction....
Haynesworth will play hard to until the trade deadline, then when he doesn’t get traded he pouts and takes his foot of the peddle.
I never thought this were actually going to happen and I’m kind of glad that this didn’t happen, if Jones stays healthy(I know that this may not be likely) Haynesworth isn’t needed.
I don't think he will play hard.
I think he might play harder if Shanny puts him as the starter, but either starter or backup, he’s not going to give 100%, hoping to force a trade along. That’s just my thoughts.
I still think we end
up getting him eventually.
Keep in mind that Jeff Fisher and Mike Shanahan are best friends, I think that might help out in the end.
Either way, with Albert on our roster we are already much much better.
I can't wait for the season to start
so we have concrete real s@$t to talk about. I’ll take Al or leave him. Whatever. Let’s GIT IT ON!!!
I always go first half - coffee, second half - beer, because In LA, the games start at 10:00 a.m.
i know i'm not a football genius but.....
but whats the big deal if the titans give up a 2nd rounder for haynesworth? its not like they light the world on fire with those high round draft picks anyway. out of the first 3 rounds its usually 1 good player and 2 facepalm players on average. dont believe me…… (i do admit there are a few exception years in there)

either way is a win-win for the titans, in my mind, though……if we get him, great, if not, we have guys that can get the job done

agreed
Better to get a player who can have an impact right away and is a force than to take a chance. give up the third round pick…wasn’t paul williams a third rounder? When you draft someone you never really know what you are going to get. We know to a reasonable degree what you get with Fat Albert!
For a point of reference
We gave up a 2nd rounder last year for Jared Cook.

are you saying.....
its a valuable pick or that we already got rid of ours for this coming year to pick Jared Cook? i do understand that the 2nd round has good talent but we usually waste the second rounders anyway (Roos being one of the exceptions). so getting a proven player vs an unknown future player is what this case boils down to. and really, we should want the titans to keep high round picks (3rd round and on) because they seem to get the best talent later in the draft.
