The Denver Broncos Players/Positions to Watch

Since I got a fairly good response about my report last week about the Giants I decided I would make one about our next opponent the Denver Broncos.  When they are healthy Denver is a very dangerous team offensively.  Their defence is  nothing to scoff at either as they do a good job getting to the quarterback and in the secondary.  Denver is yet another team on the Titans schedule that uses a 3-4 defence.  So without further adieu here are my key players to watch.

Star-divide

The Secondary

Champ Bailey is one of the very best CB in the NFL today and basically took away Reggie Wayne when they played the Colts on Sunday.  Combine that with Brian Dawkins at saftey and you have a recipe for disaster against any QB.  These guys can take whole sides of the field away.  VY and company will have to know where they are on the field at all times he will also have to take a page out of Peyton Manning's book and try to find the receiver who they aren't covering in order to be successful against the Denver Pass D.

Kyle Orton

As much as the media would like to think that Tim Tebow will take over it is highly unlikely due to Kyle here.  Ever since leaving the Bears in the Jay Cutler trade he's been looking like the franchise quarterback they have been missing since John Elway retired.  Even without Brandon Marshall there he is still posting up huge numbers passing the ball.  Thanks to Orton the Broncos rank 1st in Pass Yards and 2nd in total yards on offence.  In order for us to win the D-line and our LBs will have to set the tone by getting to Orton early and often.  If we can manage that then it will make the secondary's job a heck of a lot easier covering this very talented Bronco reviving core.

Ryan Clady

Arguably one of the best OT in the NFL today.  He is an outright animal and did a great job against Freeney on Sunday.  He finished third in the 2008 Offensive Rookie of the Year voting and in his rookie year averaged 0.5 sacks allowed a game and was only called for 3 penalties the entire year.  He was ellected to the Pro Bowl last year, he was ellected 1st Team All-Pro, and has not yet missed a game in his career.  The Titans DEs will have their hands full trying to beat this young kid.

Knowshon Moreno

When this kid is healthy he can flat out make plays weather in the pass or in the run.  He is probably one of the more underrated weapons of the Broncos but by no means should be looked over.  With the Denver O-line leading the way he is a viable threat to score any time he gets into the open field.  He is deceptively quick and agile and has great hands and great downhill running ability.  Our D will have to be on this O-line from the get go in order to bottle up this running back.  The D-line will have to fill up the running lanes and let our LBs and safeties get in to the backfield.

The Recievers

With 1st round pick Demaryius Thomas now in the line-up we are looking at a very formidable reviving group.  Thomas provides a Calvin Johnson type treat with his speed and size added to his play-making ability.  Brandon Lloyd is a very underrated but serious passing threat due to his great route running ability, great hands, and deceptive speed.  Another receiver to watch is Eddie Royal who fell under the radar after his rookie year but is now a great option in the slot with his speed and quickness he is able to burn CBs and is great after the catch providing almost a Wes Welker type threat over the middle.

Titans Keys To Victory:

  • Win the Turnover battle
  • PASS to SET UP THE RUN
  • Throw the ball early and often
  • Take advantage of the D being keyed on CJ
  • Stay away from Bailey and Dawkins

And Andre Goodman at corner

is no slouch either…basically Vince Young is gonna be throwing on a dangerous corner anywhere he goes with the ball, even to his TE’s because DJ Williams is a beast cover backer. Basically VY needs to be better at QB than all of these guys are at defense.

I told you. Didn't I tell you? Who told you, me! Mouton sucks!!!

lol, i still don’t understand why they picked him, especiially in the 1st round

he was a first rounder to begin with

I still prefer him being drafted by New England, that way he can become an even better passer under Brady

I like this, NJD28.

I really helps us to sort have a better feeling for what we might be in for. Denver is not really one of those teams that I’m very familiar with, so this is very helpful. I especially like the part about our D-Line getting to Orton, as I feel THIS will be the key to a Titan victory.

Knowshon Moreno

Sounds like he won’t be playing this Sunday. If he was playing, it’s questionable the impact he’d have as the run blocking has been horrible so far.

If VY is concerned with the corners we already lost. All he has to do is trust his reads and his playcalling. The only player on the field with more talent is on our team- Mr. CJ2.We absolutely must open up the offense against an overrated Broncos team. With the pressure Orton will be facing combined with our run stopping this should be a good margin of victory for the home team.

23rd

Broncos are ranked 23rd out of 32. Not very high for an overrated team.

Opportunities, and concerns vs Broncos

Thomas doesn’t really scare me as much as Royal, we seem to get burnt by the secondary smaller receivers.
Moreno seems to really be pleased with the thought of splitting carries, or so he said when they got Maroney, so I don’t think he’s in any hurry to get back from his Hammy.
Orton is accurate but he’s not throwing for 400 yards two weeks in a row.
CJ should be able to run pretty well, traditionally AFC west teams have a tough team stopping the run, and I don’t see them being as good on D as the Steelers.
Vince should be able to move the ball through the air, as needed. Yeah Bailey and Dawkins are back there, but he already went up and performed well against a tough pass D in the Raiders.

If they can play the type of tough, mistake free football they did against the Giants, then this should be a win. I find it very hard to believe that they would lose back to back home games.

Rec!

Being a Broncos fan I think this is a very good overview. Way better than the MSM.

All the Titans need to do is run the ball. Denver should not be able to stop it. The Denver Defense is very old in key positions and they will wear down as the game goes on. The left side of our defense is our weakest link. Mainly due to our CB Goodman’s poor run defense.

Clady is coming off a major Knee surgery that happened while he was playing Basketball. He continues to improve.
Our running game sucks, mainly due to the O-line. They are very very good against pass protection. Our RT Ryan Harris who has been hurt all year is starting on Sunday and should help the running game. This should be a major improvement as our Rookie Gaurd Z. Beadles was filling in at RT and struggled in the running game.

I think you will be impressed with our passing game. Very spread out. We have struggled big time scoring, but I think that will change as we fix a few things.
