MCM Play of the Week (Week 1)

Potw_medium_medium_medium_medium_medium_medium_medium_medium_medium_medium_medium_medium_medium_medium_medium_medium_medium

1-0 baby! Yes, it was the Raiders. But how can you not be excited about this team right now. I love when this team provides me with tons of choices for PoTW. Hopefully, they'll do the same for me next week against the Steelers (and maybe a highlight involving Albert Haynesworth!)

Videos after the jump

Star-divide

A. Vince Young to Nate Washington 56-yard TD pass.

Wow. That safety bit harder than Tyson! This is what the threat of CJ does for us, though. Oh, and Nate Washington DIDN'T drop the ball!!!111!!!1!!1! I'd rather VY stop and plant his feet before he throws this ball to ensure it's accuracy, but I guess if he can be accurate like that I don't mind.

B. Jacob Ford sacks Jason Campbell and forces fumble.

He timed this rush perfect. Not only did the D-line do a good job getting pressure yesterday, but when they got to the QB they did a good job getting the ball out. This play would have had a better chance at winning PoTW if Michael Griffin wouldn't have layed on the guy's foot.

C. Javon Ringer 15-yard TD run.

Congrats to Ringer on his first NFL touchdown! I said it last week and I'll say it again: We will be lucky to keep Ringer as our #2 RB next year. However, in the time being, we need to come up with a nickname for the duo. I don't have one for the duo, but I do have good one for Ringer (that Mike Keith gave unintentionally). Fresh Legs!

D. Chris Johnson 76-yard TD run.

Isn't it nice to have a player, that when he gets a little space, it's an automatic touchdown. What makes this play even better is the fact that the Raiders had 8-9 guys in the box all day. I also love Frank Wycheck's "See ya!" comment in the middle of the play.

E. Chris Johnson 4-yard TD run.

If his other run didn't put the game away, this one surely did. The O-line opened a nice hole for our goal-line RB.

F. Chris Hope intercepts Jason Campbell.

This wasn't a very good pass by Campbell, but also doesn't hurt that Hope was where he was supposed to be. It was really good to see our safeties return to their dominant form.

G. Vince Young to Bo Scaife 1-yard TD pass.

Vince Young has seemed to learn how to throw a touch pass accurately this offseason. This play will we open every play this year with a dominant running game.

Don't forget to vote!

Nice job, Michael

Fresh Legs is great.

I voted for the TD pass to Washington. Seeing what the threat of CJ does to teams is awesome. Along that line, I would have liked to see the opening play as an option. That’s more impressive to me than the short TDs. While nice, they are fairly routine unlike running the option for 20 yards.

gotta go with VY's 56 yd bomb to Washington.

142.8 passer rating is damn good.

AND VINCE YOUNG HAS DONE IT AGAIN!!!!

I have to go with the pass, simply because we expect the big run from CJ.

But if we add deep passing threats we are scary good.

VY-Nate

only because we’ve barely seen a play like that by the Titans in a while

That deep pass was excellent

But I gotta vote for CJ’s home run. I know these plays are starting to become routine (aren’t we spoiled?), but I literally cannot get enough of watching this guy do his thing. I must’ve watched that highlight about 20 or 30 times since yesterday, because everything happened so perfectly. The misdirection got everyone going right, Roos and Scaife opened a massive hole, CJ made a very subtle move to the right then back left to embarrass the hell out of the Oakland safety – the only guy who had a shot at tackling him – and from there it was off to the races. I’m pretty only CJ could have made that play work the way it did.

you know things are good

when 1) that play action pass to nate was so nice that it can compete with one of cj’s home runs, 2) that cj is so damn good that were not even that impressed with a 76 yard run.

i feel like when i was in high school and all of Vince Carters dunks were just another night as a raptors fan. hopefully this ends better

If CJ's run is under 80 yards...

…then I consider it routine!! And, yes, we are spoiled!!

by shawneriksmith on Sep 14, 2010 9:32 AM CDT up reply actions

I voted CJ 76 yards.

Everybody in the preseason (who weren’t following the titans) were like OMG he hasn’t ran for more than 30 yards this preaseason in a single run!!! WTF IS HAPPENING!!! AAHHHH

So my vote goes to CJ, who proves to the people that the apocalypse is far away.

I gave it to VY an NW

That play opened things up in the run game and allowed the 76 yarder to happen.

Has to be CJ's big run.

I voted for the Chris Hope interception.

As much as anything, the Safety play last year doomed this team. But those guys seem to have their acts together now, and that’s a good thing.

Go Titans!

I feel ya DannoE...

I almost voted on that play for the reasons you stated (Griff & Hope looking like they have put last year behind them & are ready to kick some a$$ this year!!) But…I voted for Nate because he has some demons from last year, too, that he needs to shake off…and so far…it looks like he’s done that. Jimmy’s right though about us being spoiled. Any other team would ALL vote for a 76 yd scamper, but we’ve really come to expect that from C..ya..J….But Capt Morgan said it best, “It’s just week one”. But, if there’s any justice in this world at all, we will do the same thing to the Steelers.

It is absolutely hilarious to me

that we are just dismissing a 76 yard TD run because he does it all the time. Man we are spoiled.

Voted for VY-NW for that same reason, I admit it, I’m spoiled.

Psh, it's routine.

yeah, just a little bit spoiled. ;)

I voted for the VY to Washington pass

Normally Cj gets the vote, however in this case VY did a great job at selling the play-fake, and finding the open reciver and making a perfect throw. Hands Washington ran a great route and is slowly turning the nickname Hands into a positive one.

It has to be VY TD pass to Hands

Has to! Remember the same play against the Colts? REMEMBER? Remember what happened then?

Anyone know where

to find Tony Brown vs Kyle DeVan last Colts game where we were @ Colts, and Tony and him got into it where Tony tried to gauge his eye out?

Wasn’t funny then, but I think it would be funny now to watch the whole play and see what happened.

I went with VY's TD pass

The way he sold that was remarkable. He did fantastic and put the ball on the money!!!
