My Draft Results. Needing MCM Imput.

Here's how I managed to do on my first FF draft...

QB - Philip Rivers
WR - Reggie Wayne
WR - Anquan Boldin
WR - Dez Bryant
RB - Ryan Mathews
RB - Pierre Thomas
TE - Owen Daniels
W/T - Pierre Garcon
W/R/T - Ronnie Brown
BN - Vince Young
BN - Kenny Britt
BN - LaDainian Tomlinson
BN - Devin Thomas
BN - LeGarrette Blount

DEF - Dallas

D - DeMarcus Ware
DB - Eric Berry
DB - Terrell Thomas
DL - William Hayes
DL - Trevor Scott
BN - Clay Matthews

I'm not 100% sold on some of these players, especially on offense, like LT and LGB. Mainly because I'm not sure yet if they'll see the field much. However, I thought Blount might see several goal line touches, and LT would be used more because of his pass catching abilities. Overall, considering this is a keeper league, I'm kind happy with my rookie choices in Mathews, Dez and Berry. Maybe even Blount? I've got to say the draft had my head swimming when I seen we were drafting defensive players. I hadn't mock drafted defensive players, and wasn't prepared for it. So my question is how does this team look, and does anyone have any suggestions in players that I might should drop in favor of?

Oh, and thanks to those of you here who helped me with advice. Much appreciated.

As dumb as I may sound here...

You’ve got too many Titans. It creates a problem with the byes, I’m assuming. At least three of your players will be on a bye at once. And if the Titans have a tough matchup, you’ve got to hope your starters have an easy one, or don’t have a bye. A last note about the Titan players is that they generally aren’t great fantasy players. VY should be a good NFL QB, but I don’t think it translates that well to fantasy. However, as a backup it should be fine. Same with Britt. Not sure how many carries or goal line touches Blount will get though.

Last season, VY was a top 10 fantasy qb, according to Yahoo.

However, drafting Blount who isnt even a lock to make the roster was prolly a wasted pick. Unless ur in a leauge of Titans fans, odds are he wasnt gona get picked. Then u coulda just scooped him up as free agent if he actually makes the team. (I assume/hope he makes the 53man roster)

That's what I read about VY, too.

And some sites this year have him listed as a good pick as a back up. At least one site said that about Blount, assuming he makes the roster like you said. I actually didn’t draft Blount. I dropped a player and picked him up after reading the article. In haste to better my roster while I could. I guess I didn’t put enough though into it. lol

He is right. Fantasy Rule #9

“Never have more than two players from the same team”

Here is my order of Titans I want in their respective Fantasy order. Gado has made Blount more of an oversight. Correct me if I’m wrong about Gado/ Blount….

CJ
Britt
VY
Ringer
Washington
Gado
Defense
Scaife
Cook
Gage
Blount

Ah. That is why I posted this here...

I did not think about the fact that I might have too many Titans, but that makes sense. All I really considered when I picked them up, was that all but one would be backups. It never occured to me that some of my other starters could share the same bye. This is the useful information that I was hoping to get. As for Titans not making great fantasy players, well according to some of the places I’ve researched, they have VY and Hayes as good bench pick-ups, but I don’t know. So which would you drop, Britt and Blount, or? Thanks for the response WTF13.

Definitely Blount.

You do not want a third string RB at all. Who did you pick first?

Definitely not Britt

I’d drop Blount for sure, and pick up any RB who is at least getting significant playing time. Either a first string on a bad team, or if your league is pretty deep, try and backup RB who’s maybe gonna get some time-share.

Hey man...

What was your draft position and I can help you out a bit more.

Running yards/point

I think that I drafted 6th out of 10.

Rush Yards – 2 points at 150 yards
Rec Yards – 2 points at 125 yards
Pass Yards – 2 points at 400 yards
TD points – 6

Alright man...

I assumed you picked Rivers first? In this league it’s about touchdowns and not yards. So that wasn’t a bad choice. Ryan Matthews was probably your second round pick, so You did pretty good picking him up but you have to worry about bye weeks.

I wouldn’t lean too hard on Anquan Boldin in Baltimore either.

I’ve never participated in a defensive draft, but I’m fairly sure the defense category is 1pt/tackle with 2 points per sack. Ware is a good choice in this, but I’m not sure if he can rack up all the tackles. It probably was safer to pick say Patrick Willis who is pretty much a lock for 100 tackles this year.

I think that I got Ryan Mathews first.

Then it was R. Wayne, followed by P. Rivers. I think. It’s kind of a blur. lol

Yeah, I didn’t study on any defensive players before the draft, because I didn’t know untill just before we started that we were drafting individual defensive players, so I was pretty much shooting from the hip with those picks. Though, I was seeing who was coming off the board, and Willis was already gone.

I think u have a decent squad

but I would start Britt over Bryant for now. Rookie WR is very unpredictable & Romo has some already established targets.
Ur starters are nice, but u have no depth. W/o it being a ppr leauge, Thomas dips a little in value, IMO. Still a decent RB2 though.
I think Matt Forte is gona have a big comeback year. Under Martz system Faulk set records. Now Forte is no Faulk. But he should get back to a top 10 FF RB.

I duno much about defensive players in FF. But I know that I would use established players like Ware. I would also find guys who lead their team in tackles per game.

Thanks.

I know Romo does in Miles Austin, but he was gone, and I was counting on how Jerry Jones loves to play his prized toys. And I don’t think Roy Williams will be any better, so someone has to step up. It looks like I need to do some adjusting on the roster.

Thanks for the info guys.

Your starters are good

but I would’ve tried to beef up the bench a little bit like I don’t know about Devin Thomas and Blount- but your starters right now are pretty good. And yeah, never take too many titans haha I did it last year, pretty much had the whole starting offense, (Collins, CJ, Nate, Gage, Lendale) and by the playoffs the only one i still had was obviously CJ

by trevor2013 on Aug 22, 2010 2:42 PM CDT reply actions

Thanks.

I dropped Blount today in favor of a TE. And I’m thinking heavily about dropping LT for someone, but I’ve not made up my mind. I picked up Devin Thomas as a bench hoping his return plus receiver abilities would make him valuable. Who knows though, right? lol

by J3G77 on Aug 22, 2010 7:04 PM CDT up reply actions

I'd definitely keep Thomas

I think he’s more of a sleeper, but really, apart from Moss, the Skins don’t have much receiving talent. Thomas should get plenty of opportunities to at least show if he can play, so I’d hold on to him until he’s proven that he can be a starter, or he proves that he can’t cut it.

Trade Mathews & Ronnie for a WR!

Of Course, Rivers, Wayne, & the PT Cruiser will get you there. Mathews, Ronnie Brown, & Garcon scare me. Ronnie can never do the job like he did 3 years ago before he decided to tackle a Patriot. Mathews is wayyyy over-rated. I would advise you trading which RBs you can for another good WR & pick up another RB in the waiver wire.
