Tennessee Titans Morning Links: ? Is Never A Good Sign Edition
Kenny Britt started the OTAs poorly, as he was held out of practice as punishment for coming in out of shape. Since then he's earned the nickname 'Question Mark' for his unexplainable drops, lingering minor injuries and mental lapses. Well that's just awesome. Britt's trying to turn his performance around, but apparently didn't show much improvement as OTA's wrapped up last week. Britt would be wise to spend the next month working with a Jugs machine unless he wants to make a home with the second and third WR units.
PFT cobbles together reports and conversations to determine what we've always known would happen: Vince Young will almost certainly not be suspended by Roger Goodell. VY and Goodell will be meeting in a few weeks, but prior precedents, as well as basic logic, dictate that the worst VY should get is a fine the equivalent of one game check. Personally, even that seems steep for a crime whose maximum legal punishment is $500 with no probation, jail time or community service.
David Boclair profiles Chris Johnson's love of tweeting, facebook, U-Stream and all things technological to get his thoughts out and connects with friends and fans. It's generally a pretty good write-up, save for 'I'm old and social technology seems evil' parts. Boclair details CJ2K's travels, opposition to alcohol and smoking, and his dedication to put football before groupies. Check it out, for sure.

Paul K reminds us that, despite the bad mojo from the Dallas incident, there are a ton of indications that VY has had a good offseason. Given how critical Paul K has been of the QB in the past, I'd say that's a pretty good sign that the Titans coaches and players are pleased as well.
The Titans cut loose on the last day of OTAs and held an offense vs. defense relay race involving a Slip n' Slide. For those of you who don't know what a Slip n' Slide is, it's time to trade your Noam Chomsky and pinot for some brisket and sweet tea, son!
In what's become the most common refrain for each Titans offseason, Jim Washburn has a new reclamation project. This year the spotlight is on former first round pick Jason Babin (interesting note: we traded back with the Texans so that they could jump up and get Babin in the draft), who is ready to jump start his languishing career under the tutelage of the master. Babin is correct when he says his career got off to a rocky start because the Texans wanted him to be a 3-4 pass rushing LB, but now that he's back with his hand on the ground full time, he's ready to prove wrong those who have written him off.
Look for CJ2K to be featured on Shaquille O'Neal's Shaq VS.. reality show. Johnson will compete in a relay that features Shaq, Dwight Howard, Desean Jackson, Maurice Green and Tyson Gay.
Have love, send some Titans links to mcmaugustwest@gmail.com!

If anyone wants a bit of a laugh, read the Guest column for Peter King today.
It’s the Texans RT, and he advocates not having divisions in the NFL anymore…. wonder why?

This is the best paragraph I have ever read on MCM:

Do we still think Kenny Britt is better than Percy Harvin?
We need to sign TO before somebody else does. To many “question marks” with this kid…

Yes.
So much speculation in the offseason, but until I see a drop off in performance ON THE FIELD, I’m holding off judgment.
I think Allen Iverson put it best (0:48 mark).
I’m supposed to be the franchise player, and we’re in here talking about practice. We talking about practice…not a game…practice. Not a game. Not a game. Not a game. We talking about practice.
Fair enough
Are harvin has migrane issues which might mean a soft head.

dont know if we ever believed that....
it’s all a moot point as percy wasnt avail when we drafted. nor was hakeem nicks who’s gonna have a breakout year for g-men and was the guy i wanted. however…i predict cook breaks out and sheds all Troupe references.

So do people still want to criticize Fisher for not starting Britt last season?
Everyone thought it was because Fish has an unreasonable hate for rookies, but maybe Britt just wasn’t ready. Reading everything I have this offseason I’n gonna have to go with the latter.
Yo, I'm smokin herbals till it hurts you
I keep your daughter way out past her curfew
Even if that is the case, I still can't see how that is unilaterally Britt's fault.
Of course there is going to be a learning curve. And, it’d be unreasonable to expect Kenny to learn the entire thing in one offseason. Certainly, he could learn some of it though.
That said, it’s Fisher’s responsibility to find a way to get the best 11 on the field as much as possible. Cut the playbook in half for Kenny, and just put him on the field for those sets of plays as he learns the rest of the playbook over the course of the season. It’s not rocket science. When the disparity in talent is as large as it is between Britt and the rest of the receiving core, you have to find a way to get him on the field.
There’s blame to go around. But, make no mistake, Fisher should shoulder some of it…
I think Fisher did
find ways to get him on the field. He had him returning kickoffs!! Thats finding ways to get him out there…..
coming through in the clutch is something Britt flashed last year
give it time we still have 75 days till a game so until then all we can do is wait

Even if Britt wasn't "ready"
he was better on the field than anything else the Titans were running out there.

I would start Britt!
I guess everyone just forgot what he did for us last season with the little play time he did recieve! People get a little negative news and take it to heart. I’m not worried about anything until I see some real onfield action.
