Tennessee Titans Morning Links: Beautiful, I Love It Edition
Vincent Hill, the woefully under-qualified ex-Nashville police officer who is trying to cash in on Steve McNair's murder with a crap book, recently petitioned a grand jury to re-open the case. Unfortunately for Hill, the petition was denied due to 'insufficient evidence'. I guess the jury had a hard time believing the jealous ninjas theory.
I spent several days late last week hanging out with some very cool Brits in Mexico, and bless 'em for reminding me how good Oasis used to be. In their honor, this week's jam is [edited] In The Bushes (which is one of the all-time great first songs to play at a concert). This particular video is mixed from Snatch, where it's the soundtrack for the film's big fight seen.
Derrick Morgan was arrested because he didn't pay a traffic ticket and the courts mailed the notice of suspension to an outdated address, but at least he didn't shoot a couple of people. I mean, if he had we'd be complete lunatics and paranoid schizophrenics to attack the cops and defend such an obviously guilty football player who keeps looking more and more like a dirtbag with deep seeded-issues that make him a danger to society. Man, I'm glad you good folks aren't that stupid delusional.
Go through the jump to get some links on VY and Keith Bulluck...
The NFL is still gathering information on the Great Pushing Apocalypse of 2010. I'm still not seeing or hearing anything that should come close to warranting a suspension. If the incident had spilled outside and become more violent? Fine. If anyone had actual injuries caused by Vince? Suspend him. If there was more of a punishment than a $500 fine being sought after by the cops? I'd listen. But there's none of that in this case.
The suitors for Keith Bulluck are lining up, and the Giants are the latest name being thrown into the mix. He also threw the Lions out of said ring:
[Bulluck] called the Lions "up-and-coming" but added: "I want to play for a championship."
The NFL wants to add two more regular season games. This should make a good change of pace once the league returns from a lockout!
The Titans agreed to terms with QB Rusty Smith.
Gotta love that one of the prime candidates to replace former-Titan running back LenDale White on the Seahawks roster is former-Titan Quinton Ganther.
Have a great weekend!

Glad he cleared up that...
Morgan stuff before someone got too depressed over it! People should just face the fact that NFL players do still have to deal with the same everyday things that we do.
So you are driving around with a suspended license?

The only thing Pete Carroll...
Will (try to) do in the NFL is piss off our coach. Because the last thing he wants is Jeff to returning to USC in X amount of years.
You mean NFL Players are humans too?
WTF are you talking about?

How would you know your license is suspened...
if you never got the letter of suspention? People can’t say that they have never had a piece of mail go to the wrong address.
especially in college
Hell, between dorms, summers and apartments I had about 8 addresses in the 4 years I was in school.

I don't understand how he didn't know he got a ticket.
Was it some sort of camera ticket where they just mail it to you?

I would expect a leaning a little more toward the side of personal responsibility from someone in the military
So let’s examine why this was not Morgan’s fault:
1) He chose to break a posted law and got a citation for said choice.
2) He chose not to pay said citation, therefore he was issued a failure to appear summons
3) He failed to respond to said summons, because he had already moved to a different address than what was on his driver’s license and not change said address with the state, which is also against the law
4) Since he chose to not change his address with the state, he did not respond to his summons, therefore the state took the next action which is suspension of driving priveliges.
5) Now he goes out and breaks the law again by speeding, and when he is pulled over for speeding, he is arrested for not having a valid driver’s license.
So I agree. Totally not his fault.

It isn't a question of "fault."
It’s a matter of not being perfect (unlike a drill sergeant), learning from mistakes, forgiveness and getting over it.
So the rest of us (non-military types) need to step off our high horses.
Nope. I agree with you.
I was responding to this:
How would you know your license is suspened… if you never got the letter of suspention?
The whole “It’s not his fault” crowd is what baffles me.
I forgive him already. He will handle the consequences with the authorities. I do reserve the right to not understand how someone could be so unorganized and careless, but I will get over that.

I'm stating that if he didn't know about the ticket then...
It’s not his fault! It’s obvious that if he knew that he had a ticket and that his license was suspended that it’s his fault. BUT the info out atm states that he did not know about the suspended license. The speeding ticket is his fault but i’m pretty sure that at some point in ours lives we have went over the speed limit. And just because you update your mail doesn’t mean that it will get to the correct place, it happens to me all the time.

Just sayin'
I have no idea why or how Morgan didn’t pay that ticket…but similar thing happened to me last winter –
I got a SEATBELT violation ticket and mailed the check through my place of work to pay it (lesson #1 learned). I should pay more attention to my bank account, but I don’t, so I didn’t realize that my check was never cashed (lesson #2 learned). About 8 months later I get pulled over for a broken tail light on a car I had bought just that day…and that was the first time I ever realized that I was driving on a suspended liscense. I didn’t get arrested, but they took my liscense and I didn’t get it back for 6 months.
Just sayin’ you NEVER KNOW what might have happened…
They those electronic tickets...
I got a ticket once before for those cameras. They don’t tell you they just send it to whatever address you had on file.
Those "electronic tickets" are civil violations, not criminal
Therefore the state cannot put that violation on your driving record. The company that owns the camera will put that on your credit report if you don’t pay the fine.
Official MCM Hater!
"If anyone asks you, you fixed my television. Now go!"
But if the ticket is out long enough
You can still get arrested for it, believe me I know from experience. Electronic ticket work the same way as a regular when it come to following the law, it doesn’t go on your record if you pay before the date posted on the ticket. If you fail to pay then it’s turned over to the authorities.

And they send it to the address they have for your vehicle registration
Which if you move and do not change, is also against the law.
Official MCM Hater!
"If anyone asks you, you fixed my television. Now go!"
How many people go to the DMV to change their address...
…immediately after moving? Moving involves taking care of a lot of things. Sometimes the smaller ones fall through the cracks.
It was a speeding ticket. If you’ve never gone above the speed limit, EVER, in your entire life, then cast the first stone. Otherwise, get off your high horse already.

Actually I have gotten a speeding ticket
And you know what? I went to court on the day I was assigned. And you know what else? The judge determined I was guilty. And what else? I paid my fine.
What did I not do? Conveniently “forget” about it.
So yes, I will “cast the first stone” and stay on my “high horse.”

Good for you.
You deserve a medal for being such a good citizen. Really, you do. Please continue to go after those hardened criminals who speed and then forget to change their address when they move.

…oh wait, sorry. For a second there I thought I was on the tennessean website. My bad.
Maybe I was overreacting,
but I think you guys are underreacting.

It's not the "crime" that pisses me off so bad
It’s the out and out stupidity. That’s what worries me.

The law is the law
Nobody’s gonna cut him some slack cuz he was in college…or cuz he had a lot of different addresses….or cuz he just signed a contract with an NFL team worth MILLIONS OF DOLLARS!!!!
Adrian Peterson just
Got cited for a speeding ticket, do you see it all over the news?
I see no source where he "just" got a ticket
But I do recall back in November when he was caught going 109 in a 55 zone, which is very, very stupid. Though for the record he was NOT driving with a suspended license.

He plead Guilty
For going 99 instead of 109 so he got to keep his license.
I'm to the point were i'm like...
People need to worry about their own lives and stop trying to judge people all the time! People act like it’s okay to be jacked up as long as your don’t make a lot of money and mess, stuff makes me sick! I understand you want to see these guys on TV and all but dang. These players aren’t perfect and they have lives of their own too. I hate when they get in trouble but I’m not going to jump down their throats over small shit like speeding tickets and suspened license. It’s going to have to be something major like killing someone or dui’s.
Oh so as long as no one kills someone...
it doesn’t count. Glad you cleared that up.
