Tennessee Titans Morning Links: Evisceration Edition
Congrats to Matt Bowen for penning the first 'VY isn't a leader' piece in the wake of the QB's strip club shoving match. It's not what I want VY to be making news for at all, but I' m also not going to hammer him for it. VY needs to be making better decisions, but if this is the worst he gets into I'll take it for sure. Plus, this was a pretty tough weekend for the Big 12, as they saw their league eviscerated.
Note to the NY Daily News: calling a glorified shoving match that was less violent than the average school yard game of Red Rover a 'melee' is best left to bird cage liners like the NY Post.
David Boclair wrote a feature piece on Keith Bulluck's place in the long line of Titans greats who left the team without the send-off they really deserved. Bruce Matthews was really the only one who got that chance, but he only played a year in Nashville. Maybe this article is jumping the gun, because I sure hope Bulluck isn't worried about his send-off just yet.
Peter King wrote this week's MMQB about the World Cup, and judging by the results, he may have actually watched a few of the matches all the way through... if only he displayed that kind of discipline when covering the NFL.

I hope he listen to his own message
Learn from your mistake, hope the next time someone comes up with the idea of going to a strip club his answer is NO!. But let keep in perspective this isn’t such a mayor thing, anyone can get into a fight. He just need to use better judgment realize that he is a high profile individual and being in a place like this is a recipe for disaster.

Think about it this way
They probably average 4-5 scuffles like that per week at the Onyx Club. The ONLY reason the police got called is because Vince Young was involved. If it had been Joe-Average customer, they would have told the guy not to come back, and that would have been the end of it.

Think about it this way
He is an NFL quarterback. He has to know that is the case and be smart enough not to do anything that will result in the police getting called.
Think about it this way- His lack of maturity has been one of the things his critics have pointed too ever since he came to the NFL. Why would he give them more fuel for their fire by fighting a guy because he insulted Texas?
In the grand scheme of things this isn’t that big of a deal, but it makes his words from earlier about maturing a little hollow to me.

Call me crazy but I refuse to see a Class C misdemeanor with a $500 fine as newsworthy.

Or, to put it another way...
…compared to Albert Haynesworth’s average speeding ticket, this is a WAY smaller deal.

That's fine
but I still think Vince needs to prove his maturity, and this isn’t helping that case.

No argument. It's just a little silly is all.

BTW...
…I think a mature man in his shoes would order out for strippers, no? He ought to do like Pacman and just get a pole installed in his basement if that’s what he really needs.

If they're in a cage, how do you get the $1's into the garters?
That’s too much dexterity for 3 in the morning.

I'm with Jimmy on this one.
It’s the context that’s worrisome. I don’t think this necessarily says anything about work ethic, focus, or aptitude as an NFL quarterback. But, when you have so much to lose and you’re already under the microscope, it’s just a lapse in judgment to even be in a situation where this could come up. It may not be “fair”, but Vince made a decision when he decided to make a career out of football at the quarterback position. He now represents not only the face of an organization, but a community as well and a role model to kids. As such, it’s irresponsible to even be in a strip club at 3 AM.
VY Support
I can’t tell if the support for VY is genuine or we’re actually scared the guy will kill himself if we turn on him again. Let’s just put this in perspective, there are major character concerns for our QB, RB, WR, and we’re praying our star CB can handle his temper on the field. Shaping up to be an awesome guys, can’t wait.
Anyway, there’s a Vince Young lookalike that once fooled TMZ so there’s hope Vince comes out today and denies all charges, right?? http://titansized.com/2010/06/13/vince-young-hours-away-from-another-midnight-joyride/

WTF is he doing in the OFFICE of a strip club at 3am?
This is not exactly heavy criminal activity but it is a seriously stupid thing to do.
Why wasn’t he at Jeff Fisher’s charity softball game that day instead? That would be a good decision.

Oh good. I heard on the radio that he did not attend but the host must have been uninformed.
That game is a great charity event.

Looks like Vince and Gerald will be keeping each other company...
for a few games, if Fish does the right thing and suspends Vince too. I’m really getting tired of seeing Titans’ names in the press for stupid decision-making. It makes the team, city, state, and fans look bad. We don’t need people who are constantly bringing us bad press. We need people with more integrity. Stay away from strip clubs, Vince! Has Pacman’s saga taught you nothing?!?!?!
This is a day that will live in Titans infamy. Between Vince’s idiot behavior, McRath’s alleged selfishness, and poor Rod Hood being out. I almost want to give up on the season already.

Hey, nobody talks bad about Texas and gets away with it...
Right Vince? But….DUDE….a “strip club”…..REALLY DUDE???? Listen to me….and if Steve were here….he would tell you the same thing….YOU’RE QBing The TITANS….NOT The steelers!!! C’MON MAN!!
Uh, dude...
Bruce Matthews played 4 seasons in Nashville… 5 in TN.
At least I think 1998, 1999, 2000, & 2001 adds up to 4…1, 2, 3, yep… 4.
The Big 12 is still here.
We’re still standing, we’re still strong.
