Sprint's Game Changing Player: Lavelle Hawkins

Lavelle Hawkins is a guy that many of us were excited about when the Titans took him with the "Pacman pick" two years ago. We were all captivated by highlights of him in college catching the ball and returning kicks. Then he came to the Titans and fell into the black hole that is Titans late round receiver draft picks.
We have all heard about how The Hawk doesn't know the plays and doesn't know where to lineup, but the funny thing is that every time the ball is thrown to him he catches it and makes a play. He also hasn't been given the chance to return a kick since his rookie year. That is what happens when you get in Jeff Fisher's doghouse.
I think Hawkins could make an impact for this team as a slot receiver. What say ye?

agreed
let williams play outside opposite Britt (if he picks up the offense) and have hawk compete with nate for slot.
I like Gage…let him rotate in with britt / williams
Gage broke his back and hung on to the ball…I’ll keep that guy around.

seriously?
The name of this column needs to be “Sprint’s Really Wishes He was a Game Changing Player Because he was Essentially Traded for our 2005 1st round Pick.” I hope the next one is better because there isn’t even anything to talk about with Lavelle Hawkins. No one is replacing him because there is literally nothing to replace. This guy is so bad in practices that he can’t even get a chance to make a bad play in a game.

guess you didnt see that game where we beat arizona
thats ok, no one said you needed to watch any games to post your opinion here — just to have them taken seriously

Hawkins has lost his chance. He’s too small physically, the only catches he’s made are when he’s wide open because no one on the other team thinks we’ll actually throw to the guy.
He may make the team, but he’s gonna be way down on the depth chart. i bet he’ll be an inactive player on the roster more than anything.

I think the one he let get away...
…in his rookie season really set him back, if only in the eyes of the coaches. That was a big play if he holds on.
But, then I remember Paul Williams is still a Titan…

I wanna see this guy get more PT
because we’ve seen flashes of brilliance on his limited time on the field (see Cardinals game 2009). Never have I seen this guy drop a pass. Most of the time, he gets blamed for running the wrong route instead of Vince’s inaccuracy. Yeah, I said it.
Ultimately, I think the reasons he struggles to get on the field is one, he too short to play in the slot (Britt is a much better fit), two, he is not fast enough to be a deep threat, three, he doesn’t impress in practice.
But I think, Hawk will excel if given the chance. I think he has good awareness on the field and would be very good on option plays. But we know this will not happen and the only chance he’ll get on the field are on 4 WR sets which the Titans hardly run.
My prediction is if he doesn’t play well on preseason games, D Williams will probably bump him down on the depth chart, some other team will pick him up, and he will excel there. Bleeeh.
I'm pretty sure he's figured it out
and it through the whole doghouse thing. Would rather see Damian in the slot or on the outside and Nate in the slot.

I can't see that....
…But I can see Damian on the other side of Kenny Britt! I’d put Nate in the slot (that’s what he did @ Pittsburgh)

Hawk is a great player!
He needs the chance to be on the field with VY throwing him the ball! VY has been getting production out of all his recievers! This year will be an exciting one seeing VY finally in control of the team! Keep Hawk and use him in certain cituations, and allow him to return kicks also! Look at all the other recievers we let go and they became great players. I personally liked Courtney Roby now he has a Super Bowl Ring and was the Saints #1 Kick Returner!
he'll be fine even i'm givin him a pass so far
I love watching the clips of CJ bounce off Brian Cushing....

i think it's too little too late
he was a great prospect when drafted but they haven’t let him on the field since. i feel like sen’derrick might be headed for the same fate.
