Tennessee Titans Morning Links: We Gots Value Edition
Kevin Mawae still thinks that his lack of employment has more to do with his position as president of the NFLPA than it does his very advanced age, and I'm still not sure I'm buying that.
Jeff Chadiha at ESPN ranks our Damian Williams pick as the 6th best value pick in the draft. This kid just keeps looking like a better and better pick.
Alterraun Verner talks with a California paper about being drafted, and they ask the best question I've heard posed to the UCLA grad yet:
What was it like being traded for a Trojan?
"It was kind of ironic because Jeff Fisher is a Trojan. He got rid of a Trojan to get a Bruin. That’s what we were making jokes about in the car. And they trade him to a Trojan. And then (Tennessee) picked a Trojan in Damian Williams. It’s like Trojans and Bruins were just getting shuffled around. It was funny."
Follow us through the jump for Kerry Collins speculation...
Jim Wyatt says Kerry Collins made it to the OTAs, though his future with the team could be in jeopardy for all of the previously-documented reasons.
Mark J. Miller at Yahoo! believes it's likely that we try to trade either Kerry Collins or Chris Simms. Of course, that would assume there's a market for their skills, which is the part I'm not seeing.
Always ahead of the latest trends, the Tennessean's Joe Biddle is just now getting around to a cataloguing of the Titans' biggest draft busts.
PFW looks at the high-risk pick of Jason Pierre-Paul... side note: raise your hand if you're like me and cheered louder at the Giants pick right before us than our own pick (no offense to Morgan).
7th round pick David Howard talks to his university's newspaper.
Jamelle Hill writes her version of the 'shame on the NFL for dissing Myron Rolle' article.
The Tennessean has some questions for the rest of the Titans offseason, and they want answers, damn it!
The Titans cheerleaders will host a charity event to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society tonight at Miro District. Several Titans players are scheduled to attend, so be sure to make it out and support a great cause.

It seems like the good-old-boy system run wild.
Those guys are too “old school” to take the sports section of a middling-sized newspaper seriously, but they then get upset when no one outside their internal organization takes them seriously. As if we’re gonna be overwhelmed by their professionalism or whatever when they themselves can’t even be bothered to show it in the first place. Ugh.

I don't get how LDW is a bust
He is a good RB and in another team he may be a starter. It not his fault that in this team plays the best RB in the league and his opportunity to get in the field and slim to none.
I'm not a VY fanboy, I'm a VY supporter
I'm with you on that
That is not a very good list

I've got to agree too
Lendale wasn’t a bust. He produced very well in 2008, then CJ2K hit in 2009.

If he wants to include 3rd round draft picks
I have no idea how he can leave Byron Frisch off the list, aside from perhaps Frisch being so unmemorable his name has been lost to memory even among people who really should know better.
He was my next door neighbor in my first house in America.

Adrian Peterson just fumbled again.
In my opinion
A “bust” should be a player drafted high that couldn’t play, like Henry and Williams. Not the injury-prone (you can only do so much) or someone who suffered a near-catastrophic injury, like Calico, and certainly not LenDale.
I remember Tyrone....
He was my favorite target on Madden….til they fixed the glitch….
"He is fast, but what I like about him is he looks like one of those track guys that actually knows how to run the ball and has good vision and patience. He is not just running at top speed. He knows when to use his speed, and he has some power and toughness, too.'' Barry Sanders about CJ2K

Any opinions on the trading Simms or Collins?
Simms would seem to have little trade value, considering he played horrible in Denver and was already a free agent. Collins may have some, albeit little, trade value I think. I could see another team thinking he could possibly start for a year and trading for him, but then because of his age, the compensation would be very little anyways.

Even worse:
They signed him to a one-year deal. So, bottom line, he either produces, or he’s out of the League.
Personally, I doubt either one of them have any trade value. I mean, trade for what? Reserve CB who can’t cover? Reserve WR who can’t catch? It just doesn’t make any sense. Plus, at this point even the Raiders have addressed their QB situation. Who’s gonna be lookin’ for a guy like Kerry Collins? Maybe the Cardinals, I suppose, but even them… I mean, that’s quite a step back from the elite.

Really? Did we have to photoshop a picture of Fisher yelling at someone on top of a picture of Adam Jones looking dejected to drive the point home?

The Jemele Hill article
Raises a really good point. When Tebow spends his summers doing missionary work rather than working out and repeatedly stating that it’s more important to him than football, no one questions that he’s still committed to the game. I realize that this is in part because Tebow can do no wrong in the eyes of the media, but it’s completely unfair to question either he or Rolle on that point.
