Why the Rams are Nuts to Consider Anyone but Suh
SCIENCE!
In summary:
Suh, at 310 pounds, accelerates faster than Tony Romo over 20 yards.
He reacts off the line like an Olympic sprinter, faster than any RBs or WRs and only .1 second slower than Usain Bolt!
He also hits harder than Ray Lewis or Kris Jenkins (or anyone else they have ever measured).
But sure, go ahead and take a chance on a big fat "maybe" at QB (and pay him more!), because that's what crummy franchises like St. Louis do.

... and more importantly
HIS NAME MEANS HOUSE OF SPEARS!
Christie kicks it high and short...Gonna be fielded by Lorenzo Neal at the 25...He dishes it back to Wycheck...He throws it across the field to Dyson...

I agree 100% with everything that has been stated about Suh. I love him. He’s a lock to be a starter/star in the NFL. Whatever team drafts him will have a first day starter in their hands.
That being said, how many games will he win a team?
I have heard arguments both for and against drafting Suh number 1, and I find it hard not to lean in favour of a franchise quarterback. Yes, Suh is a force. Yes, he is a player to be gameplanned around. Yes, he has potential to make Albert H money, but does he make the rams anything more than a 4 win team? I don’t think so.
1st round picks make ridiculous money these days. We all know it, and we all hate it. Teams just don’t spend that kind of money on an interior lineman. Players that touch the ball 20+ times a game, on the other hand, do.
What would I do if I’m the Rams? I don’t know. I really don’t. Personally, I think Clausen is the real deal, but that is just personal opinion based statistics and the limited amount of playttime i’ve seen first hand. The Rams have far more than single difficulties surrounding the organization, with needs on both sides of the ball. Those in the front office need to spend some long nights at the compound reviewing tape and discussing what they see as the primary needs of the team before agreeing on a consensus pick. Anything less would be an insult to the fans.
football starts in the trenches
if you can disrupt the opposing QB and keep your own QB clean, that’s gonna win you a lot of ball games. no d-line pressure cost us 5 games last year compared to 08.

Suh is a beast
But I get why teams flinch at paying #1 money for the position. I’d rather have Suh and Colt McCoy than Bradford and Brian Price, though.

it's going to be a ton of money regardless of who they pick
but overpaying for a great player at DT is much better than overpaying for a QB who might never be any good.

Plus, what does a QB need to be successful?
O-line, Running game (which the rams atleast have that threat), Recievers
What does a DT need?
Himself, maybe one other not worthless player on the line. Much easier for the DT.

I'd trade half of our draft for the chance to pick this man.

At this point i'd pretty much be all for it.
Instead of arguing over JPP and Graham we can just say we got the best player in the entire draft.

I'd prefer the Lions get him...
so that they have a better chance of not sucking anymore. Y’know, it’s just sad watching them be pathetic year in and year out. It was awesome when the Bucs finally got good 12 or so years ago… and when Cinci gets its act together it’s great (especially when they beat the Steelers and Ravens!).
Plus I want Schwartz to be successful – and a good DL will go a long way with him.
If the Rams do take Suh, though, it won’t be too bad, IMO. They already have invested some high picks on their DL, so this could create an epic force. And the Titans won’t have to face ’em!
I really think Suh is the Rams' best pick
Not just the best player available, but also the Rams’ best option.
Not only are the QB’s in this draft far from a sure thing (which is NOT what you want from the #1 overall pick), but with Suh on the interior and Chris Long (#2 overall pick 2 years ago) and Leonard Little at DE, they would actually have a decently formidable D-line.
I'm in St. Louis now
(I go to school here) and listening to the local media and fans, they really want a quarterback. I think they’re insane. The Rams need a QB, yes—but they need help EVERYWHERE. They need to use that #1 pick on someone who doesn’t need a rookie learning curve, someone who can go in and make plays on Day 1. You get that with Suh, whereas none of the quarterbacks will be ready right away. Why risk that?
