MOCK DRAFTERS! LOOK HERE FIRST! Titan fans want a...
Since we have had a recent rash of fanposts asking what us Titan fans would like the team to do in the draft, I thought it would be a good idea to do one big fanpost where we can let the world know what we want!
It seems that the majority of MCM would like the Titans to go one of three directions:
Defensive End: Derrick Morgan, Brandon Graham, Carlos Dunlap, Everson Griffen, Jason Pierre-Paul
Cornerback: Kyle Wilson, Joe Haden, Earl Thomas
Linebacker: Rolando McClain, Sergio Kindle, Sean Weatherspoon
Take them if they are there: Dez Bryant, CJ Spiller
These are obviously based on player availability and not in any order of want (I don't think.)
Titan fans! Rec this post so it sticks to the top and let's talk it up!! Who have I missed?? Is there another position group I need to put up?? How bad do you NOT want us to pick Pierre-Paul?? (even though you know that's what we will do!).
GO TITANS!

The Eagles WILL redeem themselves in the '10-'11 season, with a win at SuperBowl 45 in Dallas!
My apologies
if this seems California bias but I think Javhid Best will be a better back then CJ Spiller. They are both very similiar backs and I think the reason Spiller rates higher is because of Best’s injury last season and the lack of passing offense for Cal. Plus you can get better value out of Best because he will be in the 2nd rd but neither of these backs will likely be everydown backs.
Taylor Mays > Eric Berry
Yeah he does
He is actually pretty good at returning kicks but CJ is a bit better atleast stat wise he was like what 4 of 23 returns for TD I can’t say Best was that good but yardage wise he produces.
Taylor Mays > Eric Berry
Please not Pierre-Paul!
Haden, Morgan, Wilson, Graham in that order IMO. Though obviously we won’t have a chance for some of them.

Ya perhaps
But I think he’d be after Wilson and perhaps Graham.

Haha,
Nice one. Do Titans fans not like Fisher?

we've been having a civil war over Fisher for a little while now
It’s probably about a 65/35 split in favor of Fisher but the Anti-Fishers a very vocal about their opinion.
Do you mind if we dance with your dates?

Eric Berry!!!!!!!!!!!11

My Ultimate Titans Draft!
Here is what I think would be the best possible draft for the Titans, based on need and best available players. Some of these players might have to fall to us, but overall, this seems feasible.
RDE Derrick Morgan Georgia Tech or Brandon Graham Michigan 1
LDT Brian Price UCLA 3A
RCB Javier Aerenas Alabama 3B
WR Jordan Shipley Texas 4
RB Montario Hardesty Tennessee 5
SS Myron Rolle Florida State 6A
LB Roddrick Muckleroy Texas 6B
C/G Chris Scott Tennessee 7A
LDE D’Anthony Smith Louisiana Tech 7B
Hardesty is on here because I think he will be better than Lendale or Ringer. I also think we should try to sign safety Ken Hamlin, recently released by the Cowboys.
gramsey, my boy....
me thinks you’ve covered it well….question is…which one of these guys will be able to contribute, like yesterday?
my top 5 players i would realistically be happy with @ #16:
derick morgan
kyle wilson
dez bryant
sergio kindle
brandon graham

Kyle Wilson, Earl Thomas......Stop dreaming for Haden or Berry folks. 16
Secondary Switch is more of a long term need than DE. We have good depth at DE, we have horrible depth at CB (Hill is not a replacement). Yes this would be the 3rd First round CB since Kearse; take Earl Thomas then. KVB was drafted in the second round. Next year we will have a second round pick! hahah
Answer this DE supporters?
no more jokes, just truth….We drafted Britt when all of our receivers were flakes besides Brandon Jones & Bennett. Name me one talented player in our secondary who is not named Cortland or Chris? Someone on another fan post stated Tye Hill is no better than Harper was. We all know Pacman was a wasted pick due to his shortcomings. Griffin is still on the fence in my eyes. When this great DE rookie is playing the Ravens against Oher or Packers Clifton & he is getting pancaked like everyone else, there goes Boldin, there goes Jennings. What about the names we face twice such as Wayne, Clark, Andre J, MJD, Manning. When our CBs are getting beat and the opposing QB DOES get the pass off, the huge first down kills the defenses momentum and possession. I saw no arguments against my post regarding Ken Hamlin & Kyle Wilson. Ryan Mouton may show potential, he could be a great nickel corner, then add Earl Thomas & Griffin to force the three to fight for the first two slots!!! Remember this haters, that there is a few of us fans that want CB, S this year and we will be denied of course, but not forgotten. So next year, when we go 8-8; we will all know in the draft we do need some SECONDARY HELP!
We have responded to you multiple times about this
And you are either not going back to your comments to see the responses, or you are choosing to not read them.
IT DOESN’T MATTER WHO YOUR CORNERBACKS ARE WHEN YOU CANNOT GET PRESSURE ON THE QUARTERBACK.
Harken back, if you will, to the Year Of Our Lord Two Thousand And Eight. In that fine year, 3 of our 4 secondary members went to the Pro Bowl. 3 of 4! How many in 2009? How many? 0? That’s right. Now, I contend that Nick Harper was old in 2008, and was just exposed (byourlackofapassrush) in 2009. So that leaves Griffin, Hope and Finnegan. Did they just forget how to play? Decide they wanted the season to be over early? Were their feet still hurting from 2008 and they just didn’t feel like it? No. They sucked because we couldn’t pressure a quarterback to save our lives. I also submit Chris Carr. There have been many MCMers clamoring for the keeping of one Mr Carr. Why? BECAUSE HE WAS THE AWEZZOMEZZ!!!!!!!!!! So how did he do for the Ratbirds? Horrible. Horr-ible. If he had been in Nashville still, he would have been Nick Harper.
So why was he so good in 2008?
We have got to find a pass rush if we expect to be successful. There is not one cornerback in the National Football League who would be successful behind 2009’s defensive line. Not one. And Jason freakin’ Babin is not gonna cut it. We have got to give Washburn some talent. We can’t win with nothing but a bunch of role players.
Now, I would not be surprised if the Titans draft a corner first. But he is not gonna be the answer if the defensive line issues are not addressed.
Bottom Line: A good defensive line is going to cover a not so good secondary much more often than the other way around.
Please respond to this comment, titanwarrior1, so we know that you have read it, instead of calling out the “DE supporters” on every fanpost.
Thank you for your support.

his answer to our DE problems
is that we need to sign Julius Peppers. I don’t think he goes back to even read actual NFL news.

That was over 3 months ago before...
the news came out about Peppers motivation issues. I am happy the bears got em. The skins and bears continue to love the washed up talent! ERIC NORWOOD is that DE answer we all need Gramsey. He may be no draft star, but he has an extreme Motor! Here is a recent post of mine black belt, since I do not recall my own comments I write.
1st round – #16 – Kyle Wilson – CB, Boise State (or Earl Thomas)
3rd round – #77 – Eric Norwood – DE, South Carolina (2nd round – hurry up & end) -
3rd round – #97 – Dekoda Watson – OLB, Florida State
4th round – #111 – Jordan Shipley – WR, Texas
5th round – #148 – Myron Rolle – SS, Florida State
6th round #185 – Walter McFadden – CB, Auburn
6th round – #207 – Rico McCoy – ILB, Tennessee (he should be gone by now)
7th round – #222 – Joe Hawley – C, UNLV
7th round – #241 – Michael Hoomanawanui – TE, Illinois
I think that covers the most realistic draft wishlist. Keep the hope….

I thought Norwood played linebacker
But we don’t need anymore high motor guys. We need actual talent.
We have got to stop thinking that Jim Washburn is some kind of miracle worker. It ain’t working for us.
Official MCM Hater!
Fire Jeff Fisher.
Depends...
Actually he did play DE for three years at South Carolina then switched to linebacker his final year. He gets placed as OLB, rush DE, & ILB. We need depth at all 3. +
If coaches are not designed to be miracle workers to develop players, then why are they there to begin with…(rhetorical).
Washburn & Fisher are your issues. I only dislike our two coordinators & our FO. Mike R. still gets no credit, as in the end I blame him.

My mock
1st Round#16- Jason Pierre-Paul, DE, South Florida. I know, I know, no surprise here. It just makes sense. We might choose Morgan from Georgia Tech if he is available, but I see him being gone by #16. I see similarities between JPP and Kearse. We need an impact player at DE. Sue me for being practical.
3rd Round#77-Chris Cook, CB, Virginia. He is a big athlete and is supposed to be good in run support. Fisher has a hard-on for that kind of thing.
3rd Round#97(comp)- Jamar Chaney, LB, Mississippi State. Supposedly good in space, and seems like a good 4-3 LB. Good athlete could play special teams in early stages of career.
4th Round#111- Chad Jones, S, LSU – Good size and speed. He is listed as a FS but reading his tangibles he seems like he would be more of a SS in our system. Possible apprentice to Chris Hope.
5th Round#148- Brandon Banks, WR/KR, Kansas State. Supposedly the best returner in the draft according to ProFootballWeekly. http://www.profootballweekly.com/2010/04/01/top-10-draft-prospects-by-position
6th Round#185- Colin Peek, TE, Alabama. Career backup tight end with limited speed whose forte is blocking. Sound like a match for us? It does to me. Pencil him in as the 4th TE. We usually keep 4 TE’s so this isn’t a big surprise.
6th Round#207(Comp)- Pat Angerer, LB, Iowa. Slower and smaller than usual, but one of those "high motor" or "blue collar" guys that can excel at special teams. I could see him backing up at the MLB or OLB spot.
7th Round #222– Jevan Snead, QB, Ole Miss. Doesn’t look like Mr. Snead is being touted as an NFL QB, but he should get drafted late. Could be groomed for the 3rd QB spot/practice squad this year, and a future backup to Vince.
7th Round#241(Comp) – Chris Brown, RB, Oklahoma. A running back named Chris Brown? Déjà vu. One of those backs that can do everything well but nothing great. At best, he could maybe push Ringer for the 3rd RB, or provide more depth if Lendale doesn’t sign his tender.
NOT JPP!!!
we don’t need a workout wonder, we need a football player. any true first round DE should have dominated such a weak excuse for a conference like the big east. he didn’t. i will be more than pissed if they fall for gaudy numbers on a sheet of paper and ignore what he actually does (or really, what he doesn’t do) on the football field.
let this sink in folks: JPP only started 7 games in his only season in college football (he had to do community college first). that’s right, he only has a single season of college experience, AND he was only good enough to start HALF of the games in that season for a tiny school in a nothing conference. what’s more, he rushed off the left side of the d-line, meaning he was matched up against the RT! he couldn’t even dominate against the lesser of the opponents 2 tackles. if you want a 2-3 year project, at best, for your #16 pick, JPP is your guy.
Kearse put up similar sack totals AS A LINEBACKER!!!! JPP rushed the QB on every passing down, yet couldn’t surpass the season sack totals of someone who rushed the QB only a fraction of that often? please, this is just ridiculous. Kearse was a 3 year starter in the SEC, an impact player for a national champion, and won DPOY in the most NFL talent-heavy conference in all of NCAA football. JPP can’t even sniff what kind of player kearse was in college. JPP’s college career is closer to MY college career than to Kearse’s.
repeat after me: chris henry, chris henry, chris henry. outrageous athlete, not a football player.

I agree
after watching some film and interviews I feel like JPP will most likely be a bust or just take too long to develop into an NFL player. My current DE endorsement goes to someone who I wasn’t that fond of before the combine because of his size… Brandon Graham. But this guy just seems like the quintessential football player. You can tell he spends most his time thinking about football which, IMO, is probably the biggest contributing factor to the success and longevity of an NFL career. Anyone else feel me on Brandon Graham?
by I'm a black belt in karate, HI HI! on Apr 6, 2010 12:28 PM CDT up reply actions
you are beginning to sell me on Graham
im just concerned that he is more of a 3-4 olb than a 4-3 de. but you are right, in that video i posted below JPP comes across as an idiot. graham attended a better school, seemed to explode at the combine.
....
Maybe you’re right, maybe you aren’t.
But watch this: http://espn.go.com/ncf/clubhouse?teamId=58
its just a few backflips....is that equal to 12+ sacks for 6 years?
I can understand an athlete like S Troy P. or HOF WR Lynn Swan taking ballet/ swim training to improve their game. But a DE performing gymnastics is not as appealing. JPP might be better suited for 3-4 teams!?!

Thanks for this post.
I represented the Titans in Cincy Jungle’s mock, and chose Brandon Graham for you guys. He was the best DE on the board at pick 16, and while I understand the size concerns I really think his positives outweigh that.
It was a tough choice between Graham and Kyle Wilson. Overall though, I think your secondary had some solid production last year and I think depth at corner and safety can be found in later rounds. Graham is more likely to make an immediate impact on your defense.
If you’re interested, the link is here: ( http://www.cincyjungle.com/2010/4/7/1408586/2010-cincy-jungle-mock-draft-the ). I’d really appreciate any votes and especially comments.
do you really think the Titans would draft Dez Bryant?
This guy just seems like a general dumbass. His grammar and mental capacity makes VY sound like college professor. He hasn’t played football in a very long time. He’s talented no doubt but I peg him as the Jamarcus Russell of wideouts.
