im liking this
there’s a whole post on www.totaltitans.com today about how he’d be a good fit. i’d also like to see greg ellis stop by since he’s looking for work after being cut by the raiders today. (source-espn)

Thank you......
I like this move. Titans are finally doin something constructive this off season.
Titan 4 Life
Ya
I definitely think it fills a need considering our two OLB spots are up in the air right now, and if nothing else he can provide some insurance and teaching for the younger guys

I think we should try to dive in on some RFAs like Elvis Dumerville and Fabian Washington.
Media - "How does it feel to be that fast?"
CJ - "It feels real good."

He is a decent linebacker that can fill a need for us.
Ain't no time for hesitatin'
All you got to do is groove
A move that makes sense?
that doesn’t make any sense!
Im not reading too much into anyone visiting Baptist Sports Park.
Other than it could be a tell-tale of what the FO is looking for early in the draft. Remember back to last year when they brought Torry Holt in and worked him out around this time? They never offered him anything obviously, but it gave our coaches a good chance to compare his skills to the rookies they just scouted at the combine while everything was still fresh on their mind.
If OLB is something they are looking for early in the draft, then its a good move to bring some FAs in and see if they have anything left, while weighing their impact to the roster vs a rookie draft pick. Obviously if you think they would have the same impact you go with the FA. And look to improve elsewhere with the pick.
If we do sign Witherspoon(and its near starter $) then I think its a sign that we are definately going DE in the 1st, barring someone falling to us that we didnt think we could get and cant pass up. (cough) Joe Hayden (cough).
just my .02
'spoon's tank
is much more full than holt’s was when they brought him in. he’s still under 30. i love it and hope they sign him regardless of the impact on KBull. would love 53 to come back, but he won’t be 100% early in the season, and their stats last yr are relatively comparable. he’ll akso be a good mentor for mcrath should KBull not come and the inevitable release of thornton comes to pass.

But they have A LOT of holes to fill, and only a very few of them can be filled via the Draft.
Especially without a 2nd, you’re looking at getting at most ONE starter out of the Draft, and even that is pushing it. So at a minimum, they need at least one Vet, either DE or OLB, to replace either Bulluck or KVB. They might possibly replace the other guy in the draft.

What a the odds Kbull walks if we do sign this guy?
It would be awesome to have bulluck, tully, spoon.
by danomite on Mar 9, 2010 5:16 AM CST via mobile reply actions
Bulluck is gone if we sign Witherspoon
McGrath and Tulloch are definitely starting. Who knows if Thornton will be back. I don’t think Witherspoon is signing as a backup.
HE IS 31 YEARS OLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THAT'S TOO OLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HE ONLY HAD 1 SACK LAST YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 HE IS 31 YEARS OLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would love to hear the reason
from Carlos that Brock is ok to sign, but the suggestion of Kampman was nothing short of appalling to him.

"What if I was Peyton Manning?"- CJ to the ref after they picked up a personal foul flag for a late hit on him.
yall are both idiots
Raheem Brock had 3.5 sacks last year not one, glad you wrote 1 sack in caps
Hes a defensive tackle, not a defensive end. The most sacks by a d tackle last year was 7, most sacks by a DE was 17.
Do i think its ok for a player of the position to have only 3.5 sacks when the most was 7, yes.
Do i think its ok for you clowns to want to sign a DE who had 3.5 sacks when the most sacks recorded by a DE was 17? no.
Even in his old position when he recorded 9.5 sacks, that was less than half the sacks demarcus ware had.
Add in his 3.5 sacks, knee surgery, another season of wear, approaching 31 years old.
Again
PLAYING OUT OF POSITION.

I dont know why you put so much weight on how well kampman played in 2008. He wasnt good in 2009, is recovering from knee surgery and is old. Why on earth would you ever think hes going to come back better than he was at his old age, and have any more sacks than he did last year?
You seem to just be clinging to the fact hes a white player who was good at one time, and being successful and white makes you feel proud or something. Y’all rode vanden bosch really hard also and he hasnt been good in 2 years
he was either missing games
or playing hurt 2 seasons ago. this past season he clearly couldn’t deal with being the other team’s #1 focus in blocking. am i sorry he’s gone? not really. do i admire his attitude and work ethic. hell yes.
people love vanden bosch because no matter what he gives eleventyhundred percent. sure he isn’t the most talented or gifted athlete, but if you had seen him at practice up close, you would understand. every single snap, he is the hardest worker on the field, and that type of thing is contagious.
being naturally gifted is easy.
playing your ass off to the whistle and beyond on every single snap, in games, practices, or even no pad walk throughs isn’t.
if you ever want to be taken seriously, drop the race bullshit. people worship #9 around here for the exact same qualities they see in KVB.
The Dual Threat, Official Enforcer/Stat Geek of MCM.
steve mcnair was a much better player at his position than kyle vanden bosch, and he brought much more success to the titans than vandne bosch ever has.
you applaud success not effort. Maybe you worship steve because he worked hard in practice, but it has more to do with points scored and games won.
thats great vanden bosch hustled hard in practice, but if you are no longer effective on sundays and being paid loads of money, you still like him because of his effort?
Im not racist. there are very few good white defensive ends, let alone white defensive ends over 30. The fact that one leaves and the replacement you want is similar, its obvious what you like.
my cousin is the same way as many of you. Loves white players, thinks they are better than they are, and its not intentional its all he knows.

jacob ford, and tony brown have been more effective(In Games) than vanden bosch the past two seasons, and you dont see half the love yall show for vanden bosch on this website
by CarlosLehder on Mar 9, 2010 10:49 AM CST up reply actions
try reading
i already said that im not sad he’s gone, because his tank is clearly on E.
what i was explaining is why people had a special attachment to him as a player: because exceptionally hard work is respected and admired in this country.
go back and look at mcnair’s career stats. he has plenty of shoddy play on his resume. hell, when he got injured during the 1999 bengals game, he was booed off the field as he limped to the sideline and neil odonnell got a standing ovation.
what finally won the fans over was not simply winning, but proving that he would leave every ounce of himself on the field, no matter how hurt he was. it’s that kind of extra dedication and, for lack of a better term, huge manly nuts, that made him the legend he is today. like i said, anyone can be born with freakish talent, just like anyone can be born into extreme wealth. but it takes a special breed to play with the relentless passion and drive that people like mcnair and KVB exhibit every single snap.

Excellent point
You have succeeded at bringing us down to your level. Except for the racism.
Does that make you happy?

bringing you down to my level?
you post links from the internet that people send you on a website about the titans.
Ive listened to your podcast and you sound like a couple of high school kids that do the show out of your parents house and like to think you know what your talking about.
what level are you exactly on?
and a racist because I was pointing out a fact about the success of white DE’s over 30, and disagreeing with you about bringing in a washed player to replace another washed up player?

Gramsey has nothing to do with the podcast
That is August and I. There you go again not doing your research.

"What if I was Peyton Manning?"- CJ to the ref after they picked up a personal foul flag for a late hit on him.
ok you and august sound like highschool students, and gramsey behaves the same way you do, so I assume you are all the same.
why would I research who does the podcast? i was half wrong, and I dont care, im not as concerned with upholding a high level as you are on, and a reputable internet reputation
by CarlosLehder on Mar 9, 2010 12:47 PM CST up reply actions
since you dont understand, despite them being high school students, they have nothing to do with the news articles about the titans they post, thats the reason I visit this site, and it will remain the only reason I do so.

Why are you a racist?
I don’t know
But what tells me that is comments like this:
You seem to just be clinging to the fact hes a white player who was good at one time, and being successful and white makes you feel proud or something
You still have failed to show where all this “Vanden Bosch love” is. Because I am glad the Titans did not pay him.
Official MCM Hater!
Fire Jeff Fisher.
That was just the latest. I guess you are really gonna make me do this
But here goes:
hes a 30 going on 31 year old white dude, they dont last at defensive end position
hes white, but it doesnt help his athleticism
not clinging to them cause they are white players
Still waiting on the proof of the Vanden Bosch love.
Official MCM Hater!
Fire Jeff Fisher.
that may seem racist, but its true so its not an issue.
Your infatuation with vanden bosch is evident in the time Ive spent reading articles on here, Im not going to spend a minute of my time re reading every story to give you a particular incidence.
If you think your right and im wrong because of that, thats fine, doesnt affect my life whatsoever, but im sure it iwll be a huge victory in the internet war you wage
So we only like Vanden Bosch because he is white
You seem to just be clinging to the fact hes a white player who was good at one time, and being successful and white makes you feel proud or something
And you are sure that is the only reason we ever liked Vanden Bosch
You seem to just be clinging to the fact hes a white player who was good at one time, and being successful and white makes you feel proud or something
And you really don’t think that is a racist statement?
Brilliant.
Official MCM Hater!
Fire Jeff Fisher.
I never said the ONLY reason you like KVB is that hes white. I remember a time when he was a good player.
and what is your point with all these quotes? all of them are true, I dont see what you are trying to prove, except that your blinded by your love affair with anything white, over 30, and plays DE, and that you think Im a racist. Im white, being racist against white people.
Racism
From here:
Racism is the belief that race is a primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race.
See how it doesn’t matter if you’re blue or yellow or pink or green? If you think someone is better or worse at something because of their race, then you are, by definition, a racist.
are you also a colombian drug dealer?

Then why are you here?

I listed to your podcast for a couple minutes. I dont think anyone comes here for your podcast, if they do, they are probably lost.
I come here to read collected news related to the titans, not for your commentary that comes before or after a link your post. But you do deserve congratulations for being able to look up stuff on the internet, and having people do the same and submit their findings.
by CarlosLehder on Mar 9, 2010 12:51 PM CST up reply actions
ok
1) MCM radio is great i rarely get to hear people talk about the titans or about what just happened in the game. so when Jimmy and August take time out of their day to do this I am very appreciative
2) No other site will have the collective news so fast, not the Tennessean, Titansonline, or Yahoo.
so if you have that much of a problem don’t comment, read you link and move on

Anybody remember the circumstances of Witherspoon leaving StL?
He apparently got traded at the trade deadline (?) last season to Philly after 3.5 seasons in StL. Any speculation as to why?
It may be something else, but somebody has to ask: if the Rams don’t want you ………….
Should I be Happy or - ?
On the bright side; if he does get signed this makes it clear that we will draft a DE, CB, or S.
On the downside, we will lose Bulluck. Why can not he just be a rotational LB with his injury. We all know he is still the man, everyone needs a break now and then. I kinda feel we are getting the short end of the stick because the eagles are probably going after Sean Weatherspoon & leaving Witherspoon for us just like Kearse. If we could sign Bulluck, Witherspoon, Greg Ellis & draft a secondary guy like Earl Thomas, Kyle Wilson, OR Myron Rolle. I will be a HAPPY TITAN!!!!
Not worried about free agency.
I’m really not too worried about free agency. I don’t see anything enticing enough other than throwing a few smokescreens about working guys out. I would dangle someone like Scaife to trade and work a Brandon Marshall or Top Tier linebacker for Scaife and a draft pick.
I also think we have a lot of young guys ready to step up. Fisher’s big flaw is loyalty to starters (see Nick Harper) and now some have been released these young guys may be foaming at the mouth to bust people up.
