Would you trade T.Brown for 1st?

The three decisions that I think should happen soon

1. Someone should go after Tennessee RFA defensive tackle Tony Brown. He's good, 29 and has only a first-round tender. If I'm at the bottom of the first round with a DT need (Indianapolis, San Diego), I'd think seriously about stealing Brown.

Let's say money is not an issue (matchable offer by Titan's front office)

Would you trade him for 1st in 2010?

How high does the pick have to be for you to trade him?

I would trade if the pick is higher than ours (<16)

If pick is later is 16~25 depends on the offer we have to match

If later than 25 than no

idk tony brown is good all we need is a other good dt wich i think we have. We should try to start marks or tell jason jones to stop getting hurt, aslo if we sign this babon guy we should try to train him or give jacob ford a chance to start but teach him how to run tackle

Tony Brown is a role player.

A very good one, but he’s not going to be excellent without talent around him. He’ll be 30 this season. You absolutely take a first rounder for him. Maybe even less.

I think Brown had 24 QB pressures last season.

Who gets that much pressure fighting through double teams all the time? Simple answer I wouldn’t

Any pick in the first round and I believe the Titans let him go.

That would leave us with two young, high upside guys and Haye. However, with the additional 1st rounder, we could get a potential “stud” dt and de.

I don’t think any team will go after him or give us a 1st round pick if they do.

The real question is would you/me/we/them trade him for a 2nd and 3rd or a 2nd and a swap of 1st round picks ( assuming it’s a team with a better pick)?

this is a no brainer

I’d trade him for a 1st rounder…

… if it was a late 1st round pick then I’d trade that for additional picks. If it was a middle 1st, I’d package it with ours and try to trade up. If it was a high 1st rounder, I’d get drunk for joy, since that means we suckered some other team real bad.

Brown isn’t worth a 1st round pick (IMO) but hey, if somebody wants to give them a 1st rounder for him, I’d say “yippee”…

I had to stop arguing with drunks, Steeler fans, and all other fools.

If I'm the Titans...

…then probably not, although perhaps their best-case scenario would be something along the lines of what the scenario stated, i.e. T. Brown for a LATE 1st Rnd pick. That might work well.

Oddly, getting a HIGHER pick for him would be a difficult proposition. Because so much money gets tied up in early 1st round contracts that you’re losing a talented, affordable starter for an expensive unknown quantity. Typically, I’d personally avoid the risk there.

If I’m the counter-swap party, i.e. the other team, then almost certainly the answer is no, unless I have a SB-caliber team that just needs a single piece, a single run-stopping DT. The Colts are the only team in the League that might fit that profile. The Chargers definitely DO NOT because they play a 3-4 and Brown is definitely NOT a Nose Tackle.

Hell no...

why in the world would we give T. Brown for a 1st round pick… more than likely to a 20-32 overall pick team… that is simply stupid.

There is no talent in this year’s draft to match him or even get near him

Suh and McCoy are the only ones near T. Brown’s talent… I can’t believe some of you are even thinking about this.

If we could get a top ten pick for him… then that is a no brainer.

but that simply WILL NOT happen.

he is our best defensive lineman by far… why would we want to give him up for such a longshot bottom 10 pick????

Suh and McCoy have much greater talent

Whether or not they are more successful remains to be seen. Tony Brown is/was an excellent find and has been a solid contributor both in stopping the run, pressuring the QB, getting personal fouls, and jumping off-sides (OK the last 2 arent good). But he is not elite. McCoy and Suh both have the talent to be elite players. Dan Williams and Brian Price are more on the level of Brown in terms of talent IMHO. However, Brown at 2.5 million (there is no way that is right) is worth more than any of those guys. It’s never as simple as talent alone in the business of the NFL.

the defense is going to suck next year

so if we can get a 1st rounder for tony, who is good but nowhere near a 1st round talent, then we should take it happily and get younger. a 29 year old, very solid role player isn’t terribly valuable to a team/unit in rebuilding mode.

Did we not agree to a deal??

Media - "How does it feel to be that fast?"
CJ - "It feels real good."

Tony Brown for a late first round pick?

Of course I would trade Brown.
Think of who we’ve drafted with mid to late first round picks since 1999:
1. Bulluck
2. Haynesworth
3. CJ
4. Kearse
5. Britt
6. Griffin

I know, I know, Woolfolk too (just to think if we grabbed Asamuahaha instead)….but late first round picks are so good to have. Great talent without paying top 10 pick money.
