Tennessee Titans Workout Two Defensive Backs

Terry McCormick is reporting that veteran cornerback Ken Lucas and safety Aaron Rouse. Lucas was a Seattle Seahawks last year after four years for the Carolina Panthers and the four years before that also with the Seahawks. He has 25 interceptions in 138 career games.

Aaron Rouse is a 26 year old safety who played for the Giants last year after playing three seasons for the Green Bay Packers. The only thing interesting about him is that he had a 99 yard interception returned for a touchdown in the 2008 season.

Ken Lucas is not a bad workout/option.

Not really sold on Rouse though.

Hey

At least his 99 yard pick-6 came against on the Great One

Rouse is huge

for a safety. He looks like a linebacker, and a big one at that. There was also mention of Gibril Wilson coming in too.

I saw that at PFT,

but I went to their link and saw nothing about him. I’m thinking it’s a typo by them.

I could've sworn

it was in the City Paper report too, but I see it’s not there now, so either I’m going loony (entirely possible) or it was indeed a typo/misreport (also very possible). Anyway, why would we need any more safety depth after resigning Nickey for the seventh time?….

i think we should sign ken lucas to make compitition for hood, mcourty, and mouton and ken is not that bad he could get better in camp with our cooches or learn from finnegan

I like Lucas..

but I don’t think there is much improvement left for a guy going into year 10 of his career and he is like 5 or 6 years older than Finnegan I don’t believe there is much he can learn from a guy(Finnegan) who can really play one side of the field(although I remember hearing that he is working on that).

i think ken lucas can at least help…when harper was starting he needed safaties help to cover id luva can cover well chris and micheal can play zone and titans can go back to 08 form

Hell yea he can help, He can be a solid short term answer in case the team wants to wait til next year to draft a CB high or maybe even a SS this year because Chris Hope is gettin old and I’m sure Nickey the next SS.

by Charlie38104 on Mar 25, 2010 6:07 PM CDT up reply actions

Yup.

Lucas can be a decent short-term answer. Remember, we’re looking for a #2 CB, not a #1. He can fit that bill quite well for one, maybe two years. If some young talent from the Draft takes the #2 role, then we have quality depth and a better passing-down defensive package. Unless he’s looking for largesse, not much downside here.

I’d take a pass on Rouse.

Still, I’d love to get our hands on a quality WR opposite Britt and just light-up the scoreboard while a young defense develops. That one is probably unlikely, though.

Wonder who we’ll sign.

Oh, I'm sorry; did I poke a hole in the echo chamber?

i think we should trade for a closer draft pick and get jpe haden because if we do sign lucas he is getting old and so is cheis hope and nickey is terrible

by carlostable on Mar 25, 2010 7:14 PM CDT reply actions

Im not a white guy..

But Nickey should be playing both sides of the ball, and calling the plays on offense. Better yet Bud Adams should just him run the team, I GUARANTEE Super Bowls. We would have beat the Rams a few years ago if that was Nickey instead of Dyson on that Goal line play.
