2010 MCM Mock Draft - Pick #13

With the thirteenth pick in the 2010 MCM Mock Draft, the San Francisco 49ers (represented by jmztitans2) choose:

Trent Williams, OT, University Of Oklahoma

The first round sets up an interesting scenario for the 49ers. They have lots of options. Do they go 3-4 OLB and take Derrick Morgan out of Georgia Tech or Brandon Graham out of Michigan? Do they go BPA and a player that would fulfill a need of a KR/PR and 2nd RB and take C.J. Spiller? Or do they take a RT like Trent Williams? Or do they distrust Alex Smith enough to take Jimmy Clausen? In the end, their RT gave up 10 sacks last year, the tackles are flying off the board, and the Giants could take a RT with their pick before the 49ers get to pick again. Therefore, the San Francisco 49ers select Williams.

I feel like the 9ers probably have bigger holes to fill and with the depth of lineman in this draft could grab 1 or 2 later on.

But the 9ers spent so much money on Crabtree I feel like they’ll need to balance that with the protection needed to get him the ball. And protection needed for David Carr (hahahahaha) or Alex Smith to throw the ball is at least 30 seconds so they’ll probably be drafting first round Olineman for another four years.

I agree with the pick

How many times can you get a franchise left tackle at number 14? If you remember the Titans-49ers game last year it was one of the few games where the Titans spent a lot of time in the opponents backfield. That means their o-line needs some serious upgrade. The 49ers will probably still have their choice whether to go with a great CB, LB or RB three picks later.
