2010 MCM Mock Draft - Pick #11

With the eleventh pick of the 2010 MCM Mock Draft, the Denver Broncos (represented by SoCalTitan) choose: (think you can guess??)

Star-divide

Rolando McClain, LB, University of Alabama

Rolandomcclain_medium

From SoCalTitan:

Where to start with Rolando...Entering the draft after his junior season, Rolando really didn't have much more to gain in his collegiate career garnering SEC defensive player of the year, Jack Lambert Award (Best Collegiate Linebacker), Dick Butkus Award (2nd Crimson Tide to be awarded this award after some dude named Derrick Thomas) and not to mention he helped lead his team to the National Championship. His junior season stats include 105 tackles, 14.5 tackles for a loss, 4 sacks, 2 interceptions and a forced fumble.

Rolando can have an immediate impact on the Broncos defense both on and off the field as he is known for his great leadership abilities and is a film room junkie. He is also known to not only be a defensive coordinator on the field but knows every single players job on every play call. It is really hard to nit pick on such a talented player but some analyst believe he lacks elite speed although I beg to differ since he recently ran a 4.6 at his pro day and has rather stiff hips when having to change direction in man coverage. Others believe he excelled so well because of Mount Cody the 350+lb nose tackle who just ate up an incredible amount of space in front of him but I believe for any "Mike" linebacker to perform at their greatest they need a good NT. Health wise McClain has never missed a game for the Tide even though recently it became public that he suffers from Crohn's disease (Inflammation of the intestines) which is treated with medication.

Rolando would be a great pick for Denver because they need to have an impact defensive player. Last season Denver's defense started out great but as the season wore on the defense fell apart and a lot had to do with some of the aging players. Don't be surprised if you don't hear his name being called for Defensive Rookie of the Year (Not just because he's a linebacker) and have an impact on this game for years to come.

Other players that should be on Denver's radar:
Dez Bryant - WR
Sergio Kindle - LB
Taylor Mays - S
Kyle Wilson - DB

Now on the clock: AGRIFF and the Miami Dolphins

  1. St Louis Rams - Sam Bradford, QB
  2. Detroit Lions - Ndamukong Suh, DT
  3. Tampa Bay Bucs - Gerald McCoy, DT
  4. Washington Redskins - Russell Okung, OT
  5. Kansas City Chiefs - Eric Berry, S
  6. Seattle Seahawks - Anthony Davis, OT
  7. Cleveland Browns - Joe Haden, CB
  8. Oakland Raiders - Bruce Campbell, OT
  9. Buffalo Bills - Bryan Bulaga, OT
  10. Jacksonville Jaguars - Earl Thomas, DB
  11. Denver Broncos - Rolando McClain, LB
  12. Miami Dolphins -

GO TITANS!

He looks like a RB or Safety in that pic

Remember when all linebackers wore linebacker facemasks (like the one Bulluck wears), and all WR’s wore numbers in the 80s?
It seems like more and more players are wearing different looking numbers (i.e. Wide Receivers now wear #10-19 regularly) and have a wider range of facemasks (i.e. Jason Jones has a running back facemask).
I’m off on a tangent, I know.

p.s.

I know college football is more liberal with numbers and facemasks.

those numbers a lot of the time

tell you where a guy started out when he first got to camp, before they changed positions.

Yes me too

I knew he was a stellar athlete but after reading a bunch of reports and articles this guy is a guarentee lock to be a great player in the NFL in my mind. Regardless of a persons athletic ability this guy is so mature and dedicated to his work. I read about how in practices when they would pull him to rest a few reps and let some of the younger players get some work he would go to mid field and stand next to Nick Saban and observe the players instead of going to the bench, resting and mingeling with fellow players.

Titans wouldn't draft an LB early, would they?

Call me biased for living near Tuscaloosa, but this guy is a potential franchise player. And yes, crimson does make for an ugly jersey.

Do you all think Clausen last this long?

Well

I think a trade or two will happen because someone will get desperate for him.
