That's actually not a bad bet.
I mean, you wouldn’t necessarily expect them to win, but those are really good paying odds for a team with a reasonable chance. Also: Those were the same odds the Titans had prioor to the 2008 season.

Put me down for 5
I don’t think the Titans have a chance without an Albert Haynesworth type player on defense.
Can we please put Albert in the past
There are plenty of very successful defensive strategies that don’t rely on building your entire game plan around a single dominant lineman. Albert is gone. Let’s move on.

That team
has a highly creative pass-oriented offense. That is not the Titans. Another stifling Lineman could not hurt our chances at all, particularly while we are still in the Fisher era…
Titans need an above average D to be in the superbowl anytime soon. With CJ and Vince 2.0, they don’t need a great defense, but they need a good one.
Give me some actual money-spending and improvement in the D category this offseason, and I like their odds.
I agree with you.
But, I also agree with JimR, that there are lots of teams with successful defensive strategies that doesn’t revolve around 1 dominant lineman.
oh ya
no doubt. To make up for that dominant DT though, they do need to change their strategy. I’m not sure if the coaching staff can do that in the offseason. Seens like easiest way back to a good D, without philosophy shift, would be to get some push back in the front 4, and improve the DE speed.
finnegan being able to switch around should help us some next year too, and hopefully whoever replaces harper will be an upgrade but pass pressure really needs to be ratcheted up.
fat al
we need a line of dominant players. up here in ny…osi uminnyora (sp?) is feuding with giants mgmt over direction of the team and his role. if healthy he’d add a nice pass rush dimension that was sorely lacking (and not just becuz fat al was missing). i think with a solid FA pickup combined with some smart draft choices (in a draft DEEP with DEs and DTs) + xpected improvement in cecil’s 2nd yr as D coord (history WILL repeat itself there like with williams and schwartz in the past) i think we have a good shot to do some damage this year. i think the psychological damage is done to the colts and while they will still be solid they’re beatable. they’re the atlanta braves of the nfl (sorry i know there’s a bunch of braves fans up in here…but you cant deny how eerily similar their “reigns” have been.

Yeah JK....you're right.
To my knowledge, we don’t have anyone on the team who will kick in someone’s head when he’s on the ground.

with a guy like Al
you can just play middle school defense every play and you will win through sheer dominance. Now that we don’t have that, we need to play defense like grownups and mix it up enough to create some kind of doubt as to what we are going to do.
I think the Williams defense in NO is a perfect example: they had the same offense every year, but until they got a defense that gave weird looks and blitzed unpredictably, they were never a real threat to win the Super Bowl. I mean, they beat prolly the 3 best QB’s in the league in the playoffs.
