Tennessee Titans Morning Links: It'd Be Tragic If Those Evil Robots Win Edition
It certainly doesn't sound like the Titans are going to do much to accommodate CJ2K's request for a new contract, as they plan on sticking by their precedent of not addressing contracts until the final year. CJ's salary next year is definitely not commiserate with his production, but in my opinion, CJ's beef should probably be focused on the agent who got him such an undervalued contract lacking in performance bonuses. If the Titans move to renegotiate CJ2K's contract, they'd be opening a Pandora's box down the road. Lets just all hope CJ doesn't hold out...
Carrying the load he did last year means CJ's going to have to disciple his body... just like Yoshimi as she battles the pink robots! Man I love me some Flaming Lips.
The slow creep towards a labor lock-out is gaining steam, especially since this late in the game the owners are still sticking by their demand for an 18% pay cut from the players. That would drop the salary cap from 59% of all revenues to 41%. I don't think anyone can be too upset with the players for scoffing at that huge of a pay cut.
Follow us through the jump for more tasty links...
The Titans are 'working with' Kenny Britt after his minor dust-ups last month. It's just part of learning the ropes for Kenny, and I'm sure the it probably involves some mentoring from a veteran or former player.
Jeff Fisher joined the officiating crew for the Super Bowl in an annual dinner the NFL holds leading up to the big game. The occasion also provided a chance for the participants to honor Mike Pereira, who is retiring as the head of officials.
Paul K took a spin in the hyperbaric chamber Dwight Freeney is using to rehab his ankle. Doesn't sound too exciting, but it's interesting to see what lengths guys are going to in an effort to rehab quicker.
Colts tight-end Tom Santi won't be able to play in the Super Bowl thanks to an injury, but Jim Wyatt took the time to catch-up with the Nashville native, MBA graduate and childhood Titans fan. Oddly enough, Santi was even in the stadium for the Music City Miracle.
Wyatt also caught-up with former UT Vol receiver Robert Meacham, who was a first round pick by the Saints a few years ago.
Have a great weekend everybody! Geaux Saints!

The link to the Freeney article
is the same as the link of CJ’s contract extension.

The tail wagging the dog.
Now guys, c’mon, you know I’m not a Tebow fan. We all like to kid about him on here (I don’t think he’s as bad as August thinks he is). But it really bothered me when I read the story about what Nwaneri of the Jags had to say about him. FIRST: Hey Nwaneri, you’re a friggin o-linemen, your job is to block for the QB & create holes for your RB…and KEEP YOUR DAMN MOUTH SHUT!!!! If the F.O. needs your friggin advice about who to draft, then they’ll bring you into the war room and let you decide who to draft…until then…don’t open your big mouth & make a complete fool of yourself. I know, I know…o-linemen never get any pub, yeah I get that…but this is not how you want to do it, trust me…you made yourself look like a HUGE moron. (yeah, a little pun intended)

Tebow
could be great QB in Canada, or a very good H-Back in the NFL. He just has 0.01% chance of leading an NFL team to success from under center unless he gets paired with a mad genius coach/o-coordinator the likes of which aren’t in the league right now.
I don’t see how anyone who watched him play can disagree. The super-slow release, long wind-up, inconsistent motion, uneven balance in his base, lack of having to throw into small windows, lack of having to throw most professional routes repeatedly (deep outs, regular post-routes, square-ins, etc.).
I get and respect the fact that that he’s inspiring to a lot of people, but intangibles aren’t enough to win games in the NFL.

Bingo
He also isn’t fast enough to get by on his feet until his arm arrives a la Vince Young. Plus Vince is a much better passer, in college and obviously now, than Tebow will ever be.

I think you've gone out on a pretty long limb...
You’re predicting that a 1st round (projected) “star” college QB is going to have a 0.01% of being successful in the NFL…REALLY? Not sayin you’ll be wrong…just sayin.
by titansfan4ever on Feb 5, 2010 11:50 AM CST up reply actions 0 recs
I've seen him projected no higher than the 4th round.

The article I read said...
the Jags wanted to take him in the 1st?
by titansfan4ever on Feb 5, 2010 11:58 AM CST up reply actions 0 recs
and that would be a gimmick to get people in the area to actually buy tickets
but then again, it only takes one team to make a guy an early pick… I seriously doubt any legitimate scouts would sign off on taking him in the first two rounds.

that was way earlier in the season
before they realized he sucks.
seriously though, he’ll be out of the league in 5 years. QB is out of the question and I still don’t buy into this whole H-Back thing either. He isn’t fast or shifty and he’s not gonna be playing against kids in college so he’s not going to be run over people like he did. Can he even catch? Has anyone ever seen him catch? There’s just too many questions around him.
Do you mind if we dance with your dates?

Hey, I know...
let’s ask Michael Roos for permission before we draft anyone, and then whatever QB he feels comfortable with, that’ll be our guy!!

good stuff
I agree with you that players should keep their mouth shut when it comes to draft advice. I never liked it when Albert would chime in around this time of year either.

tebow in 1st?
was that article before the senior bowl? cuz he stunk up the joint during senior bowl week. if the jags take him and we take brandon graham maybe we can replay their senior bowl on the field “meeting” over and over and over again.

And, for the last 2 years...
he’s been “the guy” to beat in the SEC. If I’m wrong, somebody fill me in, please?
by titansfan4ever on Feb 5, 2010 12:03 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Yes he was in some respects
though I’d say the truckload of guys they put in the 1st and 2nd round the past few years have helped as well. Lets not discount that defense, especially.
Tebow was a great college player, but he just isn’t an NFL QB by a long shot. I mean Eric Crouch lit the college world on fire but couldn’t hack it in the pros. The concept isn’t earth shattering or without precedent.
Hell, Ken Dorsey only lost like 2 games at Miami, but was a 7th round wash-out.

All I’m sayin is how do you know which ones will or won’t make it? Can you imagine what they must have said about Fran Tarkington?

Does anybody use Firefox for their web browser?
I mainly use Opera because it has the email client built in. But I use Firefox too because websites are built more to recognize it than Opera. IE is like having a big hole in your system for any hack out there to exploit. But I digress.
The reason I bring this up is I just upgraded to the latest version and learned about this thing they have called personas. A cute little theme area to dress up the browser. I poked around a bit yesterday and found out I could build and submit them for downloading. So I slapped one together and uploaded and am waiting for approval from the powers that be at Firefox. It’s a little tribute to Steve McNair. If this works out and I don’t get sued by the Titans I could make up a few themes with some of the photos I have. However, if the Titans come calling I’ll have to call on the MCM legal department to bail me out.
How does that sound? Kind of juvenile I suppose, but with all the snow and rain I’m getting bored over here.

I can do better
but here it is: http://www.getpersonas.com/en-US/persona/96144
The problem I have with it is it’s a bit busy behind the menus but when you roll over them they highlight. So it’s not real critical. You have to have Firefox ver. 3.6 for it to work.

they ruined the draft this year
anyone else hate the new thurs/fri/sat format? i love the way draft weekend has always been with the first 2 (even better when it was 1st 3) rounds on sat and the next 4 or 5 on sun. nfl draft weekend was an event. its not as fun when it’s during work week.
