Titans Looking To Retain SS Donnie Nickey, CB Rod Hood

With Craig Hentrich retired and Keith Bulluck prepared to exit via free agency, the new longest-tenured Tennessee Titan might just become backup safety and special teams captain Donnie Nickey, whose agent is in negotiation talks with the team. "We've been talking, and I think there's a good chance," agent Jeffrey Chilcoat said. "We're still working through it, but we're making good progress." A league source also informed The City Paper that midseason pickup Rod Hood is also a player the Titans have made overtures toward retaining. Hood said at the end of the season that he would like to stay in Tennessee. "It's a good team, a good coaching staff and good players. If the opportunity presented itself, I would [come back]. I would like to be here," Hood said at season's end.

He's not gone yet

If KB’s not lowering his asking price because of his knee then the Titans might be letting him see his value on the Free Agent market first.

Yea I know

It’s just, Im afraid he will jump on the first offer and get out of town.

Too Many Old Guys

My heart says the FO is finally waking up of some degree. Keith was a star at his position. But is an injury prone Keith Bullock worth the price? Theologic is right, as most teams are going to keep waiting on these old players; as budgets are very tight right now. I used to think DE Julius Peppers was our answer until now its rumored he has no consistent heart to be a monster every game. With OLB McRath, CB #2 Hood, 1st pick Rookie OLB, DE Jacob Ford, DE Hayes all could be new starters next year. That is a total of five new positional starters all on D! It is disgruntling to say the least. But atleast we are going in a new direction. We have been too loyal of fans to KVB, Bullock, Crumpler, Harper, Thorton. Maybe there is someone else that likes Harper out there besides GM Mike, but I doubt it. Still all those 5 players mentioned above are over 30 & are free agents. I say let them walk/ test that market. I’m sure some of you want Bullock/ KVB Back desperately. But when a team loses 0-59; all Titan Fans lost a piece of their hearts. It wasn’t just the bad roster we had, bad coaching decisions (Collins), but it’s becoming more common around the league that younger players put their helmet out there more instead of waiting for the week to be over to get paid!

I am sure this was an oversight

But I wouldn’t call Keith Bulluck injury prone. This is his first major injury. He’s been solid and consistent.

Still a bad knee is a bad knee...

As much as we all have loved #53; a 35 year old OLB Veteran with a torn ACL that is now a free agent as about as appetizing (From a FO standpoint) as Torry Holt & Algae Crumpler right now in the free market. Even IF every Titan fan threatened Mike to resign Keith; I still see him getting signed by another team. & I Pray he doesn’t join the White & Ugly Plain Blue!!! NFL stands for NOT FOR LONG…

You should really

work on learning to spell our players’ names. I don’t care about grammar but it really makes your posts look that much more stupid when you misspell names of players that have played multiple years for the Titans. The roster is at the top of the screen for reference. And please don’t compare Keith Bulluck to Torry Holt or Crumpler. 127 consecutive starts my friend. If he was a running back then I would agree but he played almost 8 straight years without missing a game at linebacker and he takes good care of his body.

im with titanwarrior

although i hate to see guys like kvb and bullock go. it is it time to get this team a bit younger. and that includes harper as well. in my opinion, unless you are a top 5 in your position, then you really shouldnt be playing above the age of 30.

by tnfan1987 on Feb 23, 2010 11:35 AM CST reply actions

so then there are 55 players above the age of 30

that should be playing in the NFL? I’ll just let you read that a few times.

madden 10

DE Jacob Ford i set a single game sack record (12) on madden with ford .. in my 1st franshice year .. i know its just a game but hey 1st thing i did was cut harper on the spot and he was still on the market in week 6 .. anyways thats beside the point.. i love teh old guys but yeah unless they take a paycut we gotta get these young mosters we got in there and start making a name for them selves LETS go our SB window is open and we need to take a shoot at it before it closes again on us .

Ford & 1st pick Rookie at DE! It will bring a pass rush!

That would mean McRath is destined as well to take one spot at OLB; although this still leaves holes for the third round at the other OLB spot & #2 CB Slot! I would have traded my second round pick & Hood for CB Antonio Cromartie but we don’t have a second round. I hope we get some veteran CB to help out Hood & McCourty

It don't matter

KB is old anyway. so even if he stays, it wont be for much longer, so either way we will have to look for someone to replace him soon
