and i meant to add...

why? i don’t think this guy has played in 2 years.

although, he did play QB in college. maybe somebody wants to get creative and run some weird offensive plays with VY, CJ, and this guy.

Creative?

We’re talking about Jeff Fisher.

ah

The beginning of a series of brilliant, unexpected offseason moves that will lift us back into the playoffs.

Wow, February finds me particularly caustic.

Why? so we can cut him during camp?

I like the guys we’ve got (Britt, Gage, Trex, Hawkins, Edison)

by danomite on Feb 11, 2010 10:38 PM CST via mobile reply actions

He played well in 2008

He was just dumb. I don’T know how good shape he has; but if he is around the same level as he was n 2008-It is a good pick. And most likely he was on the workout so he is I guess in good shape.

Michael C Wright (best Jaguars source) share this tweet in an hour ago:

Just got a text from former #Jaguars receiver Matt Jones. He seems to be excited and appreciative of getting a second chance.

So you might found a decent player at the junkyard

Love it

Matt’s paid his dues for the trouble he got in, is crazy physically gifted and really started to produce his last year in Jacksonville. This is a no lose situation, IMO.

If he gets back to where he was in 2008, he’s much better than Gage on most Sundays.

Eh. I'm not convinced.

The link indicates that his DYAR and DVOA are worse that Gage’s.

Matt Jones is talented. I just think he’s only a very good #2 AT BEST.

by SuperHorn on Feb 12, 2010 8:21 AM CST up reply actions

Agreed.

He’s a physical freak and gives Vince another big strong target.

by CanuckTitan27 on Feb 12, 2010 8:39 AM CST up reply actions

True.

But, if I’m signing someone with a shaky past, I’d rather see them go after someone like Brandon Marshall, Braylon Edwards, or Dante Stallworth.

by SuperHorn on Feb 12, 2010 9:07 AM CST up reply actions

Marshall would have to come over in a trade, most likely for draft picks that we can’t afford to give away. Braylon Edwards is Braylon Edwards. We’ve all crushed Hands Washington, I cant imagine what we’d do to this guy. They should use the Benny Hill theme for his highlight reels. And I don’t think Stallworth is any better than Jones. This is the least risky move.

I think he is kind of a roll of the dice as to what we are getting

If and that may be a big if he returns to 2008 form than this would be a solid pickup, regardless he is huge, a physical freak, and he is still pretty young with quite a bit of treead left, so this may be a good pick up.

by bullrider73 on Feb 12, 2010 9:19 AM CST reply actions

Matt Jones would be awesome.

Say what you will about him not playing for past 2 seasons, the guy is beastly. Even if he only plays as good as 2008, i’d be happy.

His size opposite Britt would be great, especially if Cook comes along next season, that’d be some tandem.

Britt 6’3", Jones 6’6", Gage 6’4", Cook 6’5", Washington 6’1" as #3

And still having the CJ/VY threat. I’d love those options.
