2009 Tennessee Titans Roster Review: Tight Ends

The tight ends on the 2009 roster were mostly a non-factor.  The Titans made the decision to give Bo Scaife top 5 tight end money when they slapped the franchise tag on him last season, and he re-payed them with this stat line:

Receiving
G Rec Yds Y/G AVG Lng TD
12 45 440 36.7 9.8 27 1

Scaife is a fine, serviceable tight end, but he is not even close to being one of the best in the league.  I would say the odds of Scaife being back here next year are pretty good because he will be a restricted free agent with no CBA.  I am not opposed to that, but they better not give him insane money again.

Danno is pumped right now because he knows that it is time to talk about Alge Crumpler.  Check out these eye popping numbers:

Receiving
G Rec Yds Y/G AVG Lng TD
12 27 222 18.5 8.2 27 1

How did he not make the Pro Bowl?  I expect we have seen the last of him in the two-toned blue.

The real disappointment of this group was Jared Cook.  You remember Cook, right?  The guy that was going to create match-up problems like no one else in this generation....Well he caught passes in 5 games for a total of 7 catches for 74 yards.  When will the league catch up?

Craig Stevens can block, allegedly.

Crumpler was a blocker. We all knew this coming into the year.

Anyone that thought he’d have stats was a fool.

He's like having an extra lineman

I would love to see if we could get a one year deal done. Love the crump

Craig Stevens was a very good special teams player.

I fail to see what Alge can do that Stevens cannot. On the other side, until Cooke proves he can stay healthy, you HAVE to keep Scaife.

Alge can be an O lineman with his weight!

Stevens can’t. Also Stevens can’t crump Polamalu.

And that's a good thing?

I fail to see why fat is good.

It was a joke.

But in all honesty, Alge is probably a better blocker than Stevens, although i haven’t seen Stevens blocking much so what do i know?
