Tennessee Titans Morning Links: Todd McShay Is Now Known As Mr. Mocky McMockington
Todd McShay is back in the mocking mood (Insider required $), and this time he has us taking Carlos Dunlap from Florida. I'm going to need some serious buy-in of scouts after Dunlap's interviews and background check before I get all the way behind this pick. McShay has us passing on Tennessee DT Dan Williams, Alabama CB Kareem Jackson and Boise State CB Kyle Wilson. Probably the biggest shocker is that Mr. Mocky McMockington jumped USF one-year wonder Jason Pierre-Paul all the way up to third in the draft. That's a huge investment for a kid who was playing Junior College ball 18 months ago.
This article seems pretty premature, in my experience following Jeff Fisher: Tennessean writer (and MCM fanposter) Gary Estwick says Boom King shouldn't be packing his bags just yet, but I'm not seeing much in Fisher's comments other than making nice with a veteran he deeply respects. It's been my position since about mid-season that Boom King is only brought back if he's willing to play at the veteran minimum and see reduced playing time. I'd be 100% for that outcome because you really want his work ethic and attitude to rub-off on some of the younger guys who are on the roster now, and will be there for the first time come training camp.

FootballOutsiders took another look at the worst CBs in the league, and not surprisingly Nick Harper makes every list except for YAC Allowed (see, he can tackle!!!!). That wasn't a surprise, but damn if it doesn't go even further in proving how stupid Fisher's loyalty to him was... man if I have to make that statement in the present tense next year I just might snap.
Speaking of FO, this wasn't a banner year for the DVOA in terms of correlating with late-season success. Both New Orleans and Indy ended the regular season out of the top 5, and most of the ones who were there didn't win a single post-season game.
The Nashville City Paper recaps Bud Adams' induction into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame. Not much new news here, but it's a link that's directly relative to the Titans, and those are tough to come by these days.

Todd McWho????
Get a grip , bud. Suh & Dunlap will be the first 2 DL’s taken…and that will happen waaaaay before our name is called. Side note: I read in the Shutdown Corner this am that Vick had some big confession he made about his days in ATL…so I pull it up & Vick says “I felt like I could have done better”….REALLY…I’ll never get those 2 minutes back again :-(
Suh & Dunlap first two taken???
Suh yes, Dunlap no way in hell too many question marks, I would think McCoy would be #2
it would be the shock of the century is Suh and Mccoy aren't the 1st two DL taken
Do you mind if we dance with your dates?
Not to take anything away from McCoy...
but I hope you’re right, cause I would take Dunlap in NY second…and every time he drives some QB into the ground, he just answered another question!!

dunlap
if his off-the-field stuff is over and done with….he could be good value when he falls in our lap. i seem to remember another gator that fell to us back in 99 and his 1st tenure here worked out pretty well.

anyone see the si.com article about offseason questions?
this was under indy:INDIANAPOLIS COLTS — Will the Colts re-sign middle linebacker Gary Brackett?
The short answer is yes. Brackett is a respected leader who made the climb from undrafted rookie to team captain. Don’t be shocked if Brackett gets some help at the linebacker position. Tennessee free agent Keith Bulluck would be a perfect fit in the Colts’ system, and the Titans have made no attempts to re-sign him at this point.
i would be so lost if that happened. id be in a glass cage of emotions
It would be hilarious how fast Bulluck would go from the most overrated player ever
To the greatest linebacker to ever lace up the cleats according to Big Blue Shoe.
That might be the only thing that could top the high comedy going on at Stampede Blue right now.

A couple things to ease your mind
First, as the Colts finished in the Final 8 this season, and assuming no CBA is signed in the next 3 weeks, the Colts won’t be able to sign a Free Agent without losing one of roughly equal value. The Colts Free Agents?
- Gary Brackett
- Matt Stover
This guy from SI gets paid to write worthless rumors that can be dispelled with about 2 minutes of research. If Brackett is signed (which he should be), Bulluck could only be signed by the Colts if he takes 42 year old kicker money. I would assume if it got that bad, the Titans could scrape together $1.5M to sign him for 2010.
Add to this the fact the Colts have signed 2 Free Agents during the offseason over the past 8 years, and I’d say it is highly unlikely that Bulluck becomes a Colts next season.
It also doesn’t include the fact Bulluck may not be healed by September, which makes him signing back on with the Titans, for a 1 year deal, that much more possible.

Re: Football Outsiders
Both New Orleans and Indy ended the regular season out of the top 5, and most of the ones who were there didn’t win a single post-season game.
Here’s the top 12 teams (playoff teams):
12. Cincinnati (10-6)
11. New England (10-6)
10. Green Bay (11-5)
9. Philadelphia (11-5)
8. Baltimore (9-7)
7. Arizona (10-6)
6. Dallas (11-5)
5. San Diego (13-3)
4. New York Jets (9-7)
3. Minnesota (12-4)
2. Indianapolis (14-2)
1. New Orleans (13-3)
Top Ten in Offensive DVOA:
1. NE
2. NO
3. DAL
4. GB
5. SD
6. IND
7. PIT
8. BAL
9. MIN
10. PHI
11. HOU
12. NYG
Those lists are only off by three teams. It’s also worth noting that two of those teams on the DVOA top 12 played in the Super Bowl.
Of the top 12 DVOA defensive teams, 6 played in the playoffs. 0 made it to the Super Bowl.
Offense wins championships. Fisherball is dead.

It's a college recruiting thing
SoCalTitan is fired up right now because they got a wide receiver (Markeith Ambles) that was committed to Tennessee who switched on signing day and just happened to spell their mascot “Trogans” on his twitter.
