PrintAt this point, while the Titans may not mathematically out of the playoffs, barring a miracle it is pretty evident they have both quit on the season and are not going to make it.
With that said, now is the time to see what the young players have. Really, can it get any worse at this point? The veterans and starters are obviously either not trying and/or not getting the job done, so let's put in those young guys who may have a desire to prove themselves and also are the future of the organization, see what sort of effort they give.
Some positional changes I'd like to see:
QB - Rusty Smith may have looked terrible against the Texans, but go ahead and give him a few more games of experience to really see what he's got. He's got the first start out of the way, now let's see if he can show progress from week to week.
WR - The entire starting group needs to be yanked. Have Britt, Williams, Mariani and Hawkins as your starters...maybe they'll actually catch the balls.
TE - Bo Scaife has been a serviceable TE, but nothing special. Have Stephens and Cook as your starters and 1-2 combo.
OL - The interior could use a boost, put Velasco in at G, maybe even Kropog. Someone on the interior is not getting the job done.
LB - Sub Rennie Curran in inside or out.
CB - I love Finnegan, but something has been missing from his game this year, let's see what the duo of Verner and McCourty would look like.
S - Chris Hope needs to be replaced, either see what Nick Schommer has to offer or put in Robert Johnson.
Fisher's loyalty to veterans probably prevents most of this (if any) from ever happening, and doing those moves would probably mean admitting the season is a bust. But hey, at least we'd get to see what the young guys have and get a glimmer of hope for the future...right? Or aim for the #1 pick in hopes of getting Andrew Luck, one of those two...

Scaife hasn’t been serviceable, he’s been bad, and Moss needs to be on the field. other than that I agree with you.

I have to agree with rothbard, the last two weeks while they have been even MORE mathematically alive and really have had golden chances to not only jump back in the race, but take control, I just haven’t seen it and don’t see how in three days time they’ll change that.

when i sa our PS Lb Pat Trahan if he could play safety.
He’s about the same size as Hope.
He’s kinda too small to play LB, you could say he’s like Ernie Sims of the Eagles.
But How about we try to play him at safety after he learns the system from Griffin.
He should transition, and from his college stats he’s a sure tackler

Fisher loves Collins. First part of the plan is foiled
Can’t wait for Kerry Collins to be an ex-titan. And all the old guys to go with him. Time for a youth movement on this team. Including for Head Coach.
I noted that.
At the bottom, I’m pretty sure this is all just wishful thinking due to Fisher’s veteran loyalty (for the most part). It’s just stuff I would like to see considering where the season appears to be heading, why not get those young guys out there and get them the experience and maybe a glimmer of hope for the future?

At least Nickey provides ST value.
Collins is done, had one good year in 2008 but simply just doesn’t have anything left in the tank.
Scaife has been serviceable through his career, how much of that is because he was Young’s first/only target, I don’t know. But he’s gotten worse and is not worth keeping around. If Cook can reach his potential, he could be the stud TE this offense has never had (Wycheck was great at making the clutch catches and knowing where the first down was, I’ll even take Cook turning into that, but that might be more Stephen’s role) and maybe, MAYBE a game-changer in the mold of Antonio Gates.
