Tennessee Titans Daily Links: Last Edition Of The 2010 Season Edition
Michael Griffin got a rare public swirly from Fisher on Monday over the Dwayne Bowe touchdown, but the next day Griffin made sure to voice his support for Fisher as head coach next year. Griffin said he believes that Vince Young and Fisher can fix their relations ship in the 7 months before training camp. At this point I havev to believe that's giving both parties a bit more credit than they deserve. Is it possible that the two honestly make-up and come to an understanding? Sure. Is it far more likely that any such tête à tête would probably fail to solve any of the root issues between the two and, at best, lead to another blow-up at the first sign of trouble? Yup.
Paul Kuharsky looks at the job security and possible futures of Gary Kubiak, Jack Del Rio and Jeff Fisher.
None of the Titans starters have fallen harder or with less fanfare than Vincent Fuller. The 6th year vet looked to have the nickel back spot on lockdown again headed into the season, but the arrival of Alterraun Verner and improved play of Jason McCourty pushed him from starter to the end of the bench. Now, he can't even stay active on gameday over Pete Ittersagen.
Jump!
David Boclair looks at the increasingly common occurrence (it's the 3rd time in 4 years) of the Titans and Colts meeting in Week 17 with at least one team needing a win to make the playoffs.
After publicly declaring their efforts to get younger against the Colts, the Titans may play... David Thronton?
Chris Johnson is already talking about the contract negotiations that will take place this off-season with the Titans. There are a lot of years where this would bother me, but honestly CJ is one of a very small handful of players who busted their ass on the field trying to keep this team alive. If he wants to talk about his money headed into the last game of the season, I say he's earned it.
For those of you who are more ardently anti-Jeff Fisher, and especially non-sentimental towards the coach, you'll love this piece from Mike Freeman: "Fisher's reputation doesn't match Titans' results".
Bob Kravitz is a homer and an idiot. They'd be better to vote Peyton Manning coach of the year than Jim effin' Caldwell. I mean Jim Caldwell's greatest accomplishment this season was once again being coach of team featuring Peyton Manning. That is all.
Michael Roos is planning to build a condo/shopping development in the Germantown district of Nashville where he and his wife already run a coffee shop. Lets hope he gets it off the ground, and that this isn't just another false start.
And now it's time to wash-down the stinging disappointment of this season with the possibility that there could be no football next year. Hey, our QB can't quit on the team and our coach can't run us into the ground again if we don't get to take the field! Success!

I am desperate enough to be excited about ANY coach that we hire and ANY qb that we draft this year.
And while i agree that CJ has busted it for most of this year, the trend of me first is growing longer every day. Not sure how to feel about it
Ain't no time for hesitatin'
All you got to do is groove

Spot on as usual, A-Dub!!
Only thing I disagree on is the comment about CJ. With all the crap that has gone on this year with this FU team…for ANYBODY to even mention $$$ right now…would cause me to ram my fist into their F’n grill….and then tell them to GTFO and pronto before I do something worse to them!!

I wouldn't normally like CJ takling about money already.
But in his defense, it looks like he was asked about it, talked about it for a few minutes, then said, "But I’ll leave that to my agent, and we’ll check that out whenever that comes,‘’ he said. "I am just worrying right now about beating the Colts.’’
I’m okay with that, I guess, but I wish the money talks could be left alone for one more week.

Gonna be fielded by Lorenzo Neal at the 25; he dishes it back to Wycheck; he throws it across the field to Dyson. 30, 40, 50, 40, 30, 20, 10, 5, endzone...touchdown, Titans! There are no flags on the field! It's a miracle! Tennessee has pulled a miracle! A miracle for the Titans!"

Paul K's "case against him" piece was a direct hit.
And the “case for him” wasn’t much of an endorsement. It read like he’s better suited for the political field.
CJ asking for money is cool by me
Better to get it done sooner rather than later so that he can get into training camp on time this year. When you think about he really does deserve it. If we’re gonna ruin his career before he’s 30 we should at least get him set for life.
Get 'em.

Wonder if we could trade him for a quarterback.
Official MCM Hater!
Gerald McRath should get back on the steroids.
doubt it
nobody wants a RB even as good as he is if they have to give up a QB worth his spit.

^ This.
Not to mention the lifespan of a running back is much shorter than a QB. Why trade for what will be a fourth-year RB who’s gotten hit a lot this year and last?
I have many leather-bound books, and my apartment smells of rich mahogany. And there's this awesome Chris Johnson Fathead over the wood paneling. Seriously, it's kind of a big deal...

Trading CJ would be an incredibly stupid move.

if it were for the right pieces it wouldn't be.
draft a stud RB with the top 10 pick we’ll get, acquire another high draft pick to get a QB.
I might spring for something like that, I love the guy but if he can guarantee that we can get a future franchise QB…
Get 'em.

Trading the all-time leader in yards for a season for an unproven rookie...
Stupid move.

by the way, that stud RB we draft would have to be Ingram for me to be all for it.

Happy New Year to everyone!!
I’m gonna pull a Lavelle Hawkins and be inactive this week.
Goin to Vegas for a week starting tomorrow.
If I'm not back in 5 minutes...just wait longer.
Have fun!
You may see some Titans out there next week trying to forget about this season.
CJ
How does everyone feel about CJ?
CJ has been the most talented back in the NFL the past 2 years, but it takes so much more to win in this league. All he talks about is statistics, and how he thinks hes had a good year. He is seemingly quite selfish, and while I do not dispute how hard he plays, I do not neccesarily think he is THAT valuable. I assume most think I am crazy, but does anyone fell me on this one?
I would trade him. If we could get a great quarterback.
But nobody is gonna give up a great quarterback for a great running back.

Gerald McRath should get back on the steroids.
I agree, but only a great one.
A Peyton Manning, Tom Brady type.

I would say your only possibility
Would be a scenario like Drew Brees and Phillip Rivers both being on the Chargers. Since the only thing that comes close to this is Vick/Kolb in Philadelphia and miles down the list Orton/Tebow in Denver it doesn’t seem worth it to give up the player who will make a young QB better by default (excluding Rusty Smith).
i'm not drinking your coolaid
i don’t think you could ever get value for CJ in a trade. Proper value is in the Hershel Walker stratosphere right now and no one is that stupid except the Redskins. But minimum value is 2 number 1 picks plus more picks or players.
He's done his job
what else could you ask from a RB? Wild!
by datboybevans on Jan 1, 2011 11:34 PM CST up reply actions
Yall are most definitely tripping about trading Cj. He is the best player the titans have had in several years, and his potential makes watching the games exciting. If the titans could draft well there wouldn’t be a problem. He also draws a lot of the opposing defenses attention, having him in the backfield is more beneficial to any qb than Javon ringer.
maybe is blount hadn’t been cut in favor of hawkins it would be conceivable
by CarlosLehder on Dec 31, 2010 7:26 PM CST via mobile reply actions
well that's a largely debatable group of statements
Nobody’s saying he isn’t the best player on this team. Maybe they are, but they shouldn’t be. We recognize his talent. The Titans generally draft well. Last year’s class was great for example. We’ve got at least two long term starters on the D, our future SS, a wild card in Curran, a decent receiver with big upside in Williams, and a rookie who made the Pro Bowl. Pretty succesful right? Also, Blount wasn’t cut in favor of Hawkins (who needs to be on the field by the way…) he was cut in favor of a linebacker whose name escapes me or Donnie Nickey, one of the to to my knowledge. You may be right but that’s what I recall.
Get 'em.

He’s become stale, and he overrated his roster and the team’s leadership in a big way this season. He’s overly loyal to veterans and staff members when change may be necessary. He leans toward conservative game-planning and play calls. He and his staff seem intent on sticking with the game plan, and can be stubbornly unwilling or unable to adjust as a game unfolds. He’s got an explanation for everything and never allows for making a bad call, having a bad plan or overseeing a bad practice.

I was with the Freeman dude
Until he took a meaningless shot a Cortland Finnegan, which made me realize that he was a douche and after that I pretty much had to ignore his entire douchie argument.
