Comparison of Titans' Performance against Indy

For the first time in a long time, the Titans finally performed decently.  It wasn't a blow out but I always like to compare how our team does to how other teams have done against that same opponent (the Colts this time).

Kerry Collins had 72% completion percentage, 244 yards, 6.3 YPA, 3 TD, 0 INT, 113.6 rating.

Prior to this game, Colts pass defense averaged 66% completion percentage, 203 yards, 6.7 YPA, 1.4 TD, 0.75 INT, 89.8 rating per game.

If you remove the end of half and end of game drives by Kerry when the Colts were playing prevent, Kerry Collins had 71% completion percentage, 121 yards, 5.8 YPA, 2 TD, 0 INT, 117 rating.

So, Kerry played well...the only knock on Kerry's performance was that he didn't get the ball down the field (6.3 YPA overall vs Colts 6.7 YPA).  But, he was highly efficient.

Chris Johnson had 22 rushes, 111 yards, 5.0 yards per carry, 1 TD.

Prior to this game, Colts run defense averaged 141 yards per game, 4.8 yards per carry, 1.2 TDs per game.

So, Chris Johnson played about as expected, which is a lot better than the last two games when he only got 20 total carries and almost no yards in both games combined.

Titans pass defense gave up 71% completion percentage, 319 yards, 9.1 YPA, 2 TD, 0 INT, 118 rating.

Prior to this game, Colts pass offense averaged 66% completion percentage, 7.1 YPA, 2.2 TD, 1.25 INT, 91.2 rating.

So, Titans pass defense was pretty bad giving up 5% completion percentage more, 2 YPA more, and not getting a single interception.

Titans run defense gave up 32 carries, 87 yards, 2.7 yards per carry, 1 TD.

Prior to this game, Colts rush offense averaged 79.7 yards per game, 3.4 yards per carry, 1 TD per game.

So, Titans run defense played about as expected.  They did give up 0.7 yards per carry less but overall more yards (3rd down defense!!!).

Overall, the Titans played about as one would expect...the pass offense was efficient but not explosive, the run offense played as expected, the pass defense was the weakest link, and the run defense played as expected.  Of course, this is light years better than the last two weeks...but still not good enough.
