Around SBN: Jon Jones Arrested on Suspicion of DUI

Proof that the media hates the Titans

Why is it that  teams that have a worse or equal record than the Titansare more recognized and talked about. And when we are talked about we're usually a second tier team with good not great players.(not including CJ2K). Because nothing bothers me more then when the analyst act like its a huge surprise when we when against a good team.

Star-divide

So according to this theory we have good players with great stats. i did a little research and compared some of the stats the great teams have and their "great" players. Of course we all know that Vince Younghas the second best passer rating in the league with 103.1. So why do the reporters and analyst say that he's not accurate on the deep ball when "great" players like Drew Breesand Brett Farve sport 92.6 and 69.8 respectively. Now since we already know we have the best running back in the league CJ2K will not be mentioned so I'll move on to WRs. Kenny Britt arguably has some of the better stats(434 yrds and 7TDs) and the the best game for a WR this season. But yet DeSean Jackson another "great" player has 395 yrds and 3 TDs but yet Kenny is still emerging as a Star.?On to the Defense. Stephen Tulloch is the leagues third leading tackler but when have you ever heard his name mentioned on EAPN ESPN or NFL Network. But you hear "great" guys like James Harrison who has 49 tackles this year so far. You cant forget Jason Jones either. he may not have impressive stats (21 tackles 2 sacks) but he has been a disruptive force in our line this year. In my opinoin he has Albert Haynesworth potential. Proof of his disruption is the amount of sacks two of our "good" players Jason Babin and Dave Ball have (7 and 6 respectively). So when will the Titans finally get the attention we deserve. Maybe we will now that we have Randy Moss. But of course thats a huge maybe

If we do get the attention we rightfully deserve becaus Moss is now on the team...

… It’s a bit frustrating. Nonetheless I want our players to get recognized but on the offensive side the credit may end up going to Moss.

I hate the bye week haha I can’t wait to see how Moss will do in our team!

Not until a ring is won, maybe.....

Hey all I have to say is let them underestimate us because then that is more to talk about when we are sitting in Dallas wait to play for a ring.

It's not that the media hates the Titans

it’s that the media doesn’t care about the Titans

by rothbard on Nov 8, 2010 8:57 AM CST reply actions

This.

We are a small market. If Moss had gone to New York or Pittsburgh or Dallas they would be talking about it ad nauseum. Instead he went to Tennessee so everyone forgot about the story.

Funny how they generally fail to notice...

that this “Small market” team has a much bigger broadcast footprint than any other team… with large numbers of fans in a region covering all or part of 8 states, plus fans in Texas that didn’t switch allegiance to the Texans, plus the normal distribution of fans in other areas.

I’d be willing to bet the Titans have as many (or more) fans as any other team not named Steelers, Packers, or Cowboys.

I dont know if the titans have travelling fans

but i was pretty amazed by the amount of Titans fans at the Chargers game. So I’m guessing we got a pretty decent sized fan base throughout the country.

At least we can sell out our stadium

Unlike some ~.500 west-coast teams that the sports media is loving right now

young is not as good as brees

tulloch is not as good as harrison

jones has been on some mid-season all pro teams

i am tired of this argument. Who cares? This isnt like college with the BCS where perception matters. If the Titans win, they’ll get theirs.

that doesnt mean he is better. marino had more yards and TDs than elway…who would have wanted?

sorry my example i thought of did not fit you needs. I guess next time I will try to really do my research

all i was showing was that marino had some better stats than elway, but I would still want Elway over Marino every day of the week. Similarly, tulloch’s stats may be better than harrison, but I would still take Harrison every day of the week.

Please forgive me though holiest of example gods

When comparing a 3-4 outside linebacker and one of our linebackers, yes

It’s like comparing the spitter that is listed as a fullback in Baltimore to Ahmard Hall. You can’t do it.

I mean yeah

it’s like comparing Aaron Hernandez to Craig Stevens, they’re two totally different players who just so happen to play the same position.

yeah so it's already been said

they don’t hate the Titans, they just don’t care about them. tackles are kind of a stat based on opportunity rather than skill, so it would be natural that a MLB like Tully would have more tackles than an OLB like Harrison who has a better supporting cast around him anyway in the LB corp. Who lead the league in tackles 4 out of the last 5 years? if you guessed anyone other than London Fletcher-Baker (he of 0 Pro Bowls), then you’re wrong. why did he make all those tackles? the Skins weren’t winning games, other teams ran on them a lot, he’s a MLB with no supporting cast or a half- decent D-lineman other than Al. Britt really had done nothing special until that game against the Eagles. he’d been an ok receiver with some nice upside down the road but nothing close to the likes of Jackson who was the league’s best home run hitter last year other than CJ. Young is not a better QB than Brees. Favre? maybe, but they’re going to keep talking up Favre because there’s a controversy in Minnesota and that team is terrible this year after being great last year with no explanation other than Favre sucking.
last point, Jones isn’t as good as Al was, they play different positions too; Al was a nose tackle.
none of this is to call you out, I just thought I’d address some of the points you made.

moss & titans

For some reason when it comes to the titans the media and other teams think we play dirty ball, we all know FISHER is all about safety of the players. Tennessee is a hard nosed, die hard, and never give up state that loves our football and will stand behind our players. I for one can’t wait to see how Moss plays on Sunday, he has had a rocky road the last month, but here again we are rocky top. He just needs to find a home and a coach that will stand beside him and have the patience to handle his personality. Saying that Mr Moss needs to put his feet on the ground and understand that he is not mister perfect and the football world does not revolve around him, and just because a ball is not passed to him is no reason to give up on the play, He has been placed on a pedistool and needs his ego dropped a few inches. If it doesn’t work out these next 8 games then he can find another new home. Reality check 32 teams only the TITANS took the chance.

by titanjunkie on Nov 11, 2010 7:16 PM CST reply actions

i'm confused

1) fisher is concerned for player safety
2) Moss needs a team and coach that will stand by him and have patience
3) moss needs to get his shit together and realize not everything is about him
4) we can just cut him because no one else wanted him

was this just a brain dump post?? 1 has nothing to do with anything else, and 2 seems to directly contradict 3,4….
