Pull up a chair gentlemen...
How do you like your words? Medium well?(I hear the VY Steakhouse is taking orders) First off I just want to send a big thank you to Vince Young, while I was busy fighting off everyone who doubted you and questioned your maturity..... you turn around kick me in the balls!
I fought like a freaking Spartan against the Persian hordes only to get shot up with arrows in the end #spoilers. I understand that you were angry and that its hard to lose... but, what you did was inexcusable not only did you give Fisher an excuse to bench you but you may have just lost your career as a Titan. You have embarrassed this team, two states and all the fans that stuck up for you. Great job Vince!
Signed,
SouthTexasTitan

MESSAGE TO VY:
Dude, what you did was unacceptable, man!! Many of us on this site, including the author of this post, have backed you all the way. And even during times, which I won’t mention here, that alot of people were calling for your head…we were still supporting you, telling people, “He’ll be OK, just give him a chance to mature a little”. But this last incident was the last straw, man…:-(….I don’t care if you disagree with the head coach…..I don’t care if you disagree with the OC…..I don’t care if you think the fans are booing you….I don’t care if you like Randy Moss or not….I don’t care if your dog died….or your girlfriend left you….or you spilled coffee on your favorite shirt!!!! DUDE…..DUDE….there were alot of people counting on you to handle ALL of this adversity in a controlled manner. You are not Michael Douglas…and this is not the movie “Falling Down”. You cannot, and I repeat, CANNOT allow yourself to meltdown like that, man…really dude..I love you man, but I can’t continue to make excuses for you anymore. But…I am still going to pray for you and hope that someday you get to experience the success that your mentor did.
This is exactly how I felt... At times I found myself still excusing him on Sunday... which was unfair.
At this point, I have had enough of them both.

Thank you so much for writing this
first i loved him, then i was against him, then I loved him again and argued anyone who ever said even 1 small negative thing about him, and now i hate him. Can’t wait till he’s gone.
Got rid of all 3 of his jerseys and took down the fathead
Patrick Peterson= Next Deion Sanders. Julio Jones sucks.
I think a ton of blame goes to VY.
But a ton of blame should fall on Bud Adams. If he goes through with keeping VY on this team next year, its going to be a mess. Complete and utter humiliation.

fisher will leave before he gives VY another shot, i believe
lots of high-profile franchises will be needing a new HC this offseason. i think at the end of the season he will give Bud an ultimatum about VY, and then it will be up to Bud to determine the longterm fate of the franchise.
that’s right, our batty 87 year old owner will make the most important decision in Titans history at the end of the season. i just puked.

I'm truly an idiot and immature
below my years… I’m 33 years old, been a Oiler/Titan fan since I can remember… I hate immature football players that run around pouting and crying and making a big deal and fools of themselves i.e. Pacman, TO amongst numerous others. Even got to the point where I no longer love Kenny Britt like I did for a year cuz of his stupidity. I love hardnosed football players such as Eddie George, Steve McNair and Keith Bulluck.
So back to the immature idiot I am, why is it I find myself still wanting Vince Young? Why is it I would rather keep him around than Fisher? Someone please help me, I know I shouldn’t feel this way. Why do I?

The problem with VY is
There isn’t a better option on the radar right now. We defended him because his talents gave us hope, way more then KC, Rusty or Simms. We were all willing to forgive the little incidents, the strip club cat fight, pulling himself two years ago against the Jags, and looking like an idiot throwing cash around the club with his shirt off. We forgot about the horrible interceptions, bad fumbles and terrible reads and remembered the Rose Bowl, the 24 point 4th quarther against the Giants, and the 99 yrd drive. The potential was always there to amaze us and thats why quietly we’ll cheer for him next year where ever he plays.
But while we were blinded by the potential, we didn’t see what everyone else was telling us, VY is not great, go back and try and remember all the times when VY was great, was it really VY or was it a great defense and a great run game.
Like you I am still sorting through my emotions on this, this is the first post I’ve made since ‘V-Day’. I’m a 32 year old diehard titan fan from back in the Air McNair Oiler days. And I feel so betrayed, it’s kind of embarassing that I could take this whole thing personally. The only thing I know is that the only constant thing from all those years as a titans fan is Jeff Fisher. I’ve never cheered for another coach, we’ve given him a hard time over the last couple of years and maybe we were not right in doing so, maybe we took the wrong side, I know KC is not the best QB but it’s starting to look like Fisher might have been right that he is consistant and with a good running game and defence that is all you need.
Sorry for the rambling but I know how you feel, I’m still confused and coming to grips with this as well
I'm no super-genius... or are I?

I love this post.
Perhaps we all wanted to believe in the Texas Vince Young and weren’t truly examining the Tennessee Vince Young.
Your point on Jeff Fisher is interesting. For the past few years, we felt that only true Titan fans had seen the growth in VY, and that the media was simply ignorant when they reported on him. We kept thinking we were smarter than them. I wonder if the same thing has happened with Fisher.
For the past few years many on here have felt that Jeff Fisher is an average coach and that only true Titan fans recognized that he wasn’t all that good. We kept believing that the media was ignorant in feeding us the “Jeff Fisher is a good coach” line. We keep thinking we’re smarter than all the reporters out there saying how the players respond to him and how well respected he is. And you know what? Perhaps we were wrong on this one too. I did the same thing you did. I’ve gone over the past 4 years and looked back on, and thought “Hmm maybe Fisher was right when he pulled Vince here” or “Maybe it was the better decision to go with Kerry if the locker room trusted him more”.

But don't you feel like fuck!
We waited all this time for VY to finally become a good QB, here it is and now we are going to have to start all over by going in another direction. Sit here and wait for the next guy to progress. Obviously Vince isn’t right mentally, obviously he’s not very mature. Just really seemed like he was at a point where he could finally read a defense, go through progressions and make good decisions on the field. Seemed like whenever healthy this season he helped us win games. At this point I just wanna win so bad, just seems like it keeps getting further away.

I feel awful.
I really and truly believe in the power of Vince Young. No longer. He may be the most talented QB on the roster (and he is, by far) but he is not going to win games by running away from his problems.

But honestly,
I never thought VY was all that great of a quarterback. And the media is ignorant, they prefer to make Tenn a small team. And we’ve seen the idiotic comments they make. Jeff Fisher has made some great decision, and he’s a great locker room coach. But his style of play will not win big games anymore, like against really good or great teams such as the Saints, Colts, Chargers (to us), Steelers, etc. We have the talent to beat those teams, it’s just that Fisher’s philosophy doesn’t work in games.
I'll ask an honest question here:
If Alge doesn’t fumble the ball in the 2008 playoff game, and we win, let’s say, does that change how you would feel about his approach?
I thought his scheme worked pretty well in that game, considering we overcame 2 (?) fumbles and a CJ injury. Clearly we didn’t win, but he did seem to put us in good position.

I feel your pain.
I have two football jerseys: 10 and 28. I remember looking forward to preseason games— PRESEASON games just so I could see VY play. I know he screwed himself in Jacksonville, but thought that maybe he deserved a 2nd chance.
I felt so happy for him when it appeared that he turned his life and attitude around and perhaps lead this team in a great turnaround story.
My previous favorite players were Javon Kearse and Steve McNair. I love Javon’s story growing up in the hood and turning his life around. It was inspirational. Again, perhaps some ghosts never leave you. And for Steve, I just shook my head at another athelete paying the price (far too high) for stupid behavior. My other favorite non-Titan was Chris Benoit.
Maybe I should just stick with politics. At least there are no illusions that they’re all scumbags.
because Titans fan have and always will compare
Vince Young to Steve McNair. We all wanted him to finish off the superbowl run that “Pops” started in 1999. It’s not going to happen. VY will never have the mental fortitude that McNair showed.

Is there any possibility
that this dude is just fed up? Any possibility he felt once again betrayed when Fisher pulled em verse the Steelers? Any possibility he was healthy enough to start last week verse the Phins and once again was told Kerry was the starter? Any possibility he was really fed up when not allowed back in this week and lost his cool cuz that was the last straw as far as he was concerned? Any chance anyone can look at this a say he’s finally fighting for this job as the starting QB
by Big Bad Bulluck on Nov 23, 2010 7:26 PM CST reply actions 2 recs
wouldn't you be fed up?
i sure as fuck would..but then again im not an NFL quarterback
all i want is a god damn superbowl..is it that much to ask for?
the more i think of it
the more i think the media have a lot to do with the melt down too. constantly and repeatedly asking if he was healthy enough to start, is he tough, basically questioning his manhood right to his face and his teammates’. then he gets his thumb hurt and that becomes a chance to prove that he is tough enough and he isn’t allowed to. that’s what it seems like from the outside, to me at any rate.
i’m not saying that makes what he did ok, just that it might have been what was going through his mind. it expect it would have been in my mind in that situation.
It's not either/or
Yes, Vince may have been fed up with Fisher. Yes, Vince may have been frustrated with not being able to play. But he already went through this in 2008. You can’t show weakness when fans are booing, you can’t throw your pads in the stands, and you can’t quit on your team!
SouthTexasTitan, I’m a central Texas Titan and a Longhorn alum, and I agree with you 100 percent. I spent the last three seasons defending Young and suggesting the media had it out for him. Now I feel like an idiot. I do not like the taste of crow, but I’ll be eating it for a while.
You know what’s even more frustrating? Because of Mr. Adams’ loyalty, Vince is going to start next year. Everything hinges on whether he’s going to mature, and I no longer have confidence that he will.
I wouldn't say throwing your shit
into the stands is quitting, I wouldn’t say wanting to go back in the game after getting hurt to the point of going nuts is quitting. Wouldn’t say walking out during a post game talk with the man you despise is quitting

My Vince Young Jersey
Finally made the pile of Thanksgiving day bowls with friends and family. I was hesitating, because your only supposed to dust off Old, obsolete, you can’t wear this any other time jerseys. Well congrats Vince you made it to a Thanksgiving day Jersey.
Not to make excuses on this situation, but it may have been bungled from the get go. Wasn’t he drafted presumably by Bud Adams, to be mentored by Steve McNair? Then they nickel and dime McNair(RIP) out of town. So from the very begining things with Vince have been messy. He just put the final straw on the hay ride.
Other than that I’m nodding in agreement with every post on this page. Unless you don’t like Fisher’s Flavor Saver.
