OT: Fantasy Football advice
The only thing I hate about Monday night games are that I have to wait an extra day to see the Titans play. At the very least, it'll be my fall break and I can start pre-gaming super early. To help pass some time, I'd figure I'd start a thread with questions about some fantasy football match ups. My big money league I am 2-3, and I am in need of some help, so maybe the good folks here at MCM will give me some good advice. I'll lay out my match ups first, and feel free to ask your own questions pertaining to your team.
Romo @ Vikings, or Eli @ Lions?
Addai @ Was, or Ronnie Brown @ GB? Addai has been a consistent #2 RB for me, but hes nicked up, and I'm afraid Peyton decides to go off this week and totally ignore the run.
For WR I have Nate Washington, Mike Sims-Walker, Jabar Gaffney against NYJ, Austin Collie @ Was. Have to pick just 2 of them. This league I can play 4 receivers and no TE if I want and I figured Donald Driver is a lock. I have Kellen Winslow also and he gets a lot of targets against NO. To round it out, I'm leaning towards Nate and Gaffney, as MSW has screwed me over too many times, and Collie was invisible last week with Garcon being back.
And finally the DEFENSE: Cowboys @ Vikings, or Chiefs @ Texans. I screwed the pooch on my D. They're both projected to put up little points. Guess I need to know who won't give me negative points instead.
I'm thinking this for the week:
Lesean McCoy
Donald Driver
Nate Washington
Jabar Gaffney
Kellen Winslow
Chiefs D/ST
Raiders kicker Janikowski
With Brown, MSW, Manning, McFadden, and Collie on the bench. Blah, thats such a mediocre squad.
I'd love to see your input, or at least tell me I'm terrible at fantasy football to reaffirm what I already know.
And feel free to ask your own questions about your lineup this week. I can give some terrible advice if you're willing to listen.

Romo, Mccoy, Ronnie, Driver, Nate, MSW, Chiefs
Ronnie > GB ..GB is severely banged up
Nate cause I have a feeling about him this week
MSW > Gaffney cause Jax is guna play from behind all game so lots of attempts/yardage..MJD is going NOWHERE all game!
and def chiefs for defense, they run the hell outta the ball n a better chance to keep the game lowish scoring.

Question 1
Where did you get Lesean McCoy? I thought your choices were Addai or Ronnie Brown?
Here goes.
Eli
Ronnie Brown
Nate Wash
Austin Collie
Winslow
Chiefs Defense.
You say that Donald Driver is a “lock”, however, if Aaron Rodgers sits out, do you really think he’s going to put up big points?
If I were you I would look at your waiver wire. Try Mike Williams out of TB for WR. he has caught tds in the past 3 weeks and was my personal sleeper pick of the year. He’s safe enough to be started as a high WR3 now. If that isn’t there look for Kenny Britt or (Lord Help me) Danny Amendola out of STL. Danny is Bradfords number 1 target now.
Also a question about your draft. Who was your first round choice? I don’t see one person worth hitting in the first round.
Also for maybe a RB filler. Try Michael Bush this week. It’s hard to trust a Raider, but he’s the healthy one out there now. He should get the starting job.

This is a keeper league that started 3 years ago.
3 keepers are selected and they are essentially your team’s top 3 picks. So the actual 1st pick in the draft would be in the 3rd round. I was picking 6th out 12th and had Romo, Addai, and Brown as my keepers. I was thinking about not selecting any, but the commish said if I hadn’t selected any keepers, the computer may have selected some for me by default.
My first pick essentially was McCoy, with a bunch of other players unavailable by being kept. In the listed match ups there I already had penciled him as one of my better options this week.
I was able to get Mike Williams and Britt in other leagues, but this 12 team league is leaving me scraping from the bottom of the barrel. Highest scoring receiver available now is Josh Cribbs.
Romo
Romo’s going up against a Vikigns secondary that’s missing a lot of players, and he put up monstrous numbers against our secondary last week (that I happen to think is better than the Vikings anyhow), so he seems like the clear choice. Eli vs. Detroit seems like a good matchup on its face, but keep in mind that the Giants will most likely try to run all over the Lions (Coughlinball?) and win that way. And, keep in mind that Dallas is going up against a Vikings defense that’s traditionally been able to stop the run (they’re fairly middle of the pack statistically thus far, but the talent is still there). Dallas is a passing team. Romo’s the right choice.
As far as RBs go, I would lean in the direction of Ronnie Brown. Both Brown and Addai are going up against similar defenses in terms of run-stoppery, but Washington is much worse than GB at stopping the pass, which makes the Indy-Washington game feel ominously like a Peyton Manning affair. That, and Addai is still questionable for the start anyhow (and Mike Hart ran well in his stead last week, so there may not be an urgency in bringing him back in). Brown hasn’t lit the world on fire yet, but surely Miami isn’t going to put the game on Chad Henne’s shoulders against a Green Bay team that’s pretty good at hassling a QB.
WRs? I’d probably go with Nate and Gaffney. Collie’s an interesting option, since, as I said before, I think that Indy’s going to throw early and often, but there’s just too much clutter there. Wayne and Garcon and Dallas Clark are going to get the lion’s share, and the Colts look to have Anthony Gonzalez back this week too. Too many mouths to feed for me. The Nate pick is probably wishful thinking, but still the Bedazzlers allowed 3 touchdown passes to Ryan Effing Fitzpatrick. So there’s a reason to be optimistic, and Nate’s looked good thus far. Gaffney is in a super-pass-happy system, and I’d think that the Jets would concentrate their resources on stopping Brandon Lloyd, the most prolific Bronco receiver thus far, leaving opportunities open for Gaffney. MSW is bound to break your heart. Thus, Nate and Gaffney.
Defenses? How can you bench a Chiefs defense that hasn’t allowed 20 points to anyone this season (despite playing both the Colts and the Chargers this season; they’re 3rd in scoring defense overall) and just held Peyton Manning without a TD pass? Plus, they’ve got a killer return game this year. All too easy.
Austin Collie's a top 10 FFL receiver. Why would you ever consider benching him against the 29th ranked pass defense?
Because I don't know what I'm doing
I tend to over analyze this stuff it it bothers me to no end when players I leave on the bench put up career days. Such as Week 2, Colts @ Broncos, Collie gets like 200+ yards receiving and 3 TDs while I started Mike Sims-Walker to get somewhere around 0 points.
In the end, I suppose I should stick to my stud players.
Isn't Collie currently
the #1 fantasy wide receiver, I know he was after week four. Also Sims Walker has had pretty good 2 games in his short career against the Titans so you may want to look at him, I think he had 2 TD’s in the home game against the Titans last year, and as some of the other guys posted, if they get down they have to throw to someone.
