Adding a LB to let go a DB doesn't make much sense.

that the anti-Nickie crowd will kill me for saying this – hasn’t Mouton been a solid contributor on special teams? He makes a lot of tackles on returns and we don’t need to weaken our coverage. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to see him matching up on Randy Moss ever again.

No, he hasn’t. Remember the opening kickoff return for a TD by the Steelers? That was right up Mouton’s lane, and he wasn’t there because he got suckered by the reverse.
He makes that tackle and we just might have won that game.
