Colts QB Peyton Manning Wins AP NFL MVP
To the shock of pretty much no one, Colts QB Peyton Manning has been named the AP's 2009 NFL MVP.
The surprising story to me here is how the vote went. There are 50 votes- Peyton got 39 1/2, Drew Brees 7 1/2, Philip Rivers 2 and Brett Favre 1. Seems to me that there is an obvious name missing from that list. I never thought Chris Johnson would actually win the award, but the fact that he didn't receive one single vote blows my mind.
I guess there is always the Offensive Player of the Year which is named next week.

do you think....
fisher has called him to congratulate him yet? “I love you Peyton, I wear your jersey to bed every night”
No surprsies there...
and I’m not too surprised that Johnson didn’t receive a single vote. (although why Brett Favre got one is beyond me). The most valuable player in the NFL should be a consistent game changer. While CJ has been stellar, the fact that CJ Success =/= Wins, means he is not as valuable as Payton Manning. 90% Payton Success or Failure =/= Indy Win/Loss respectively
which is also why only QB were voted for, and why 8/11 MVPs this decade have been QBs. The three running backs (LT, Alexander, and Faulk) were on teams that combined went 37-9

I don't know what to think about this
Being a Texans fan, I do have an extremely healthy hatred for the Titans… and I get that Manning was on a winning team and could have probably gone undefeated had the coach not been a huge puss…
As much as it pains me to say it – my vote would have gone to CJ. I mean, yeah okay the Titans weren’t winners this year, but for the love of GOD – 2000 yards. It’s only happened what, five other times? I dunno… the MVP thing has so many assumed meanings.
Anyway – it was fun watching CJ this year… uh, except for that one game where CJ had his invisible cloak and had like four 50+ yard runs.

What's hilarious about this award
is that if they included the entire annual body of work (reg season + postseason), Peyton would probably have to give all of his previous MVP awards back.
Greatest “regular season” quarterback of all time. Can’t wait to see him shit the bed next week.
I know we were only 8-8
but how many games would we have won without cj? and he doesn’t play defense. Oh, and his numbers are insane.
BBS is getting a little worked up
with people that think CJ should have had a shot of winning (in the comments).

BBS can stuff his opinions in a sock
…and load them into a shotgun shell, and… you know the rest.
One thing Texans and Titans fans can agree on, I know.

Also did you notice further up the thread the guy saying AP is better than CJ simply because he had more TD’s??? Absolute bullshit.
i answerd the call too
i left some bad remarks and i was kicked off.. and i aagreed to the the rules again and i left some more bad remarks basically saying i didnt care if they banned me i wasnt gonna be civil with colt fans

CJ's comment was funny. I can't imagine anyone being upset by it.
And the guy will definitely be ORY. What a year!
Thank you!

Oops.
I knew that, really. It was a fast typo. I meant OPY. Offensive Player of the Year.
ORY has already been given to Harvin, I believe. Sorry for the wrong initials.

I get why Manning won.
If you’re gonna vote for a QB, then personally I would have voted for Brees, but I totally get why Manning won. As BBS pointed out, he’s in all those TV commercials.
What I truly DO NOT understand is how the Hell Brett Favre got a vote. I mean, c’mon, Favre’s not even the most important player on his own team! Plus, Favre only has those Wrangler commercials, and they suck. And on top of that, AP’s commercials are WAY cooler than Favre’s, and he’s on the same team.
Can someone explain this to me?
