VY replaces Philip Rivers. This will be his second career Pro Bowl, his other being his rookie season. Vince joins Chris Johnson and Kevin Mawae for the AFC team. After Matt Schaub being added to the roster earlier today, if the Colts lose to the Jets, the three quarterbacks for the AFC in the Pro Bowl are all AFC South QBs.

woohoo!!

I’m even MORE excited that Big Ben Rapethisburger didn’t make it! (yet – if the colts go super, then he’ll probably be the next replacement)

Even if Peyton wins there will be 3 AFC South QBs

David Garrard is the next one in line for the Pro Bowl.

He doesn’t deserve to be there

by Texan Youngster on Jan 20, 2010 7:32 PM CST reply actions

F that crap

Vince deserves to be there. If anything this is a show that some awards aren’t based purely on stats, but what someone did for a team. I’m actually really happy he made the pro bowl, I think he deserved the come back player of the year award as well he changed that team when given the chance again, but naturally Tom Brady had to win an award for at least something this year (no doubt he has a contract clause stating he’ll at least win one award for something in the NFL each year)

by StPrattrick on Jan 20, 2010 7:42 PM CST up reply actions   1 recs

Okay, then which other QB deserves to be there?

Peyton Manning, Phillip Rivers, Tom Brady, Matt Schaub, Ben Roethlisberger, and Carson Palmer were voted higher than Vince.

Ryan Fitzpatrick, Brady Quinn, Kyle Orton, David Garrard, Matt Cassel, Chad Henne, Mark Sanchez and Jamarcus Russell were the quarterbacks voted lower than Vince.

Which one of those QBs should have made it over Vince then?

honestly for being his first year starting chad henne really impressed me

by Texan Youngster on Jan 20, 2010 7:49 PM CST up reply actions

why isnt carson palmer playing

by Texan Youngster on Jan 20, 2010 7:49 PM CST up reply actions

Because none of his numbers are particularly impressive?

I like Carson, but the Bengals really had a limited passing game in 2009. Ocho had over a thousand yards, only one other player had over 500, and that was Coles.

Housh would’ve really helped.

by FloridaownsFSU on Jan 20, 2010 8:30 PM CST up reply actions

well even if his numbers werent impressive smashville says that he was voted higher than vince so why isnt he an alternate

by Texan Youngster on Jan 20, 2010 9:20 PM CST up reply actions

Agreed and rec'd FSU

The Bengals coaching staff was NOT paticularly imaginitive when it came to scheme and play calling. The do so little from a personnel and formation standpoint that a GOOD college coach could easily prepare for their offense.

by Cardsfan81 on Jan 25, 2010 9:20 AM CST up reply actions

The guys who were voted higher were, I think, at least as good and mostly better than VY.

Don’t get me wrong: VY played very well for the most part. But he was pedestrian—at best—against the Colts, and when the Titans really needed a game against San Diego, he dropped his only real BOMB of the season.

That said, he definitely played better than the other guys on that list, and more to the point, he’s a good draw for the Pro-Bowl because he’s such an interesting and exciting player. Who knows? Maybe it’ll be a good game.

these are all legitimate questions im not trying to be a troll i have not bad mouthed no one or even judged anyone for there opinion. I read an article bout it and came to the blog to ask questions and state my opinion isnt that what this blog is for

by Texan Youngster on Jan 20, 2010 9:23 PM CST reply actions

You said Vince doesn’t deserve to be there… sounds like bad mouthing to me, granted it my be your opinion, but you came to a Titans blog to say negative things about one of the only reasons the Titans ended 8-8. Like it or not he’s our future qb, don’t get mad when you post something negative about him and then you get backlash for it.

by StPrattrick on Jan 20, 2010 9:39 PM CST up reply actions

no the real reason was because chris jonhson ran like crazy against the whole league

they don't have to be mutually exclusive.

make a venn diagram if you’d like. your opinion on this subject could very well overlap with that of “badmouthing.”

can anyone really say he had a pro bowl season though thats the basis of my argument

by Texan Youngster on Jan 20, 2010 9:50 PM CST reply actions

I think obviously he did :o)

by StPrattrick on Jan 20, 2010 9:57 PM CST up reply actions

can anyone say that T-Mac or AI deserve to be going to an all star game?

sure it’s a different sport, but you, im assuming, being from houston and, presumably being a rockets fan should know that tracy mcgrady is going to an all-star game despite the fact that he’s played only a few more minutes in the NBA than i have this year.
the voting system is ridiculously flawed for every sport, this we know that, but people voted for vince because they wanted to see him succeed and this season was the perfect excuse to finally vote him in after leaving him for dead two years ago. as we know, it’s all about the fans because that’s where the money is. so in those terms, the terms that if he got in, more people would watch, yes, he had a pro bowl season.
plus, all the dude does is win! that’s gotta count for something.

VY may not have...

posted the numbers on his stat line that some others did, bu I will tell you what he DID do.

VY tunred this team around from a 0 win team to an 8 win team.

VY added a dynamic to our O that helped CJ get his 2k yards.

VY gave hope to a fan base that didn’t have any reason to cheer in the early season.

VY united the haters and fanbois under one flag again (for the most part).

VY gave us a reason to look forward to next season.

VY proved a lot of people wrong and salvaged what I hope will be a long glorious career.

VY became OUR QB of the future damnit and I am glad to see him there. Sometimes pure stats aren’t the only reason a player gets recognized. If it was all based on stats Manning would be home making his horrible whiney face wondering why CJ or Drew Brees had the MVP instead of him.

amen brother amen…. finally somone acknowledged the reason why he was put on the roster.. .. i missed out on geting his rookie year pro bowl jersey so im gonna jump on it and get me one this year.. TITANS2010 were coming for that ass

by TattedTI on Jan 21, 2010 6:41 AM CST reply actions

It's amusing how insecure some people are

They act like VY going to the Pro Bowl means that everyone is biased for him. He had a good year, but he’s going because so many QB’s pulled out. I’m happy for him, but I don’t have this fantasy that he should go to the Pro Bowl under normal circumstances. Yet, it’s “OMG VY TO THE PRO BOWL HE DIDN’T DESERVE IT THE WORLD IS ENDING!!”

by TheElusiveShadow on Jan 21, 2010 6:58 AM CST reply actions

How bout these numbers...

QB’s this year with a better winning % than Vince: Manning, Brees, Rivers. That’s it.

by ctex80 on Jan 21, 2010 9:17 AM CST reply actions

And?

That shouldnt matter with pro bowl elections

Vince Young doesnt deserve to go

by T--Rac's Posse on Jan 21, 2010 9:21 AM CST reply actions

I'm happy for VY.

It’s always good to have more Titans in the pro bowl.

I am curious why so many are bowing out though. Is it because it’s not in Hawaii?

by J3G77 on Jan 21, 2010 9:27 AM CST reply actions

They are bowing out

because of injuries. Although Brady seems to cancel any time he doesn’t win the Super Bowl. But Rivers, Palmer, Roethlisberger are injury related I believe. If Peyton goes to Super Bowl I guess they’ll stick Flacco in there. God who would have thought Matt Schaub would be in the Pro Bowl because HE’S healthy. He must have been on HGH all year.

you guys are out if control

we all know he is in there cause other qbs dont wanna go or are injured we get it .. dont hate VY cause he taking the offer to play with some of the best players in the NFL just let it be.. he our qb of the future lets hope he learns something that"ll help his game out by playing with some of those guys out there.. or hope he gets something out of it… for stepping in after our bye and helping us back in the hunt after a 0-6 start i think he deserves it from a titan fan point of view.

by TattedTI on Jan 21, 2010 12:06 PM CST reply actions

Missing from all this

VY comments that he was working out with CJ when he got the news. I’m happy for him that he’s going to the Pro Bow, regardless of how he got there, I think this is the icing on the cake of coming out from the ashes. Years from now nobody will remember how he got to there, but that he was part of the 2010 Pro Bowl.

But reading that he’s been true to his word of keep working is giving me hope for good things this next season.

I'm not a VY fanboy, I'm a VY supporter

by Lord_Drist on Jan 21, 2010 8:22 PM CST reply actions

I don't feel he deserved to go. IT is only by default that it is happening. I know he made

some progress this past season, but overall I feel he will be a bust. I did not see the Colts game, but I did see the Chargers game, and that combined with the Seahawks game does not give me confidence that he is going to beanything more than average.
