Let me just say

that I’m glad Chris Henry didn’t get cut. Sure, he doesn’t have the vision to get a large number of carries, but he could still be a useful guy on special teams or in certain plays (see: his rookie season). People backlash against where he was drafted, but don’t take it out on the player. If he was drafted later, I bet the discussion would be different. He’s the 4th string RB, no big deal.

If he was drafted later.........

the conversation would be very different. He would have been cut a year or two ago. He should have been cut today.

Sorry to see Ganther go.

I hope to Hell he can learn the position.

Sarge hasn’t ever played a full season, and Ganther used to spell him pretty often.

Let's hope he can..

He don’t have the vision to see the hole, maybe he can see the man to block to make one.

Don't get me wrong. I could see him succeeding as a FB.

The guy can lay the wood, and he’s durable as Hell. He just doesn’t see holes very well, it seems.

It's only because ganther was injured

If Q doesn’t get hurt thursday night, Henry gets cut today.

You're not wrong walter, you're just an asshole.

Q got hurt

Regardless, he should have made it over Henry

by zackmann on Sep 5, 2009 5:42 PM CDT via mobile reply actions

couldn't we have PUP'ed Q

why dump him, when from most perspectives he is more useful as the 4th rb backup fb than Henry

Fowler

Anybody else suprised besides me?

by asbestos_man on Sep 5, 2009 5:53 PM CDT up reply actions

I was.

He played well as a starter, and from everything I’ve read, Tullie just narrowly beat him out. I guess they thought his salary was too high for a backup?

by DoofusOfErasmus on Sep 6, 2009 12:41 AM CDT up reply actions

I don't think so

To go on active regular season pup i think you have to have been on preseason pup first (whatever they call that), and to go on the preseason pup you can’t have practiced in an organized practice at all. that seems like what i read awhile ago, but someone correct me if i’ve got it wrong.

Where's Ringer?

Where Javon Ringer I don’t see him on either list. Is this a mistake?

For some reason he wasn't included in the roster

I added him

Ganther

was “waived injured”. I hadn’t heard of that one before, but if google is not lying to me it means he’s released but getting an injury settlement. If he’s not picked up by another team, he can be put on our injured reserve list.

Return Men

What do you all think of the following available Return Men?

Skyler Green

Yamon Figurs

I think the Titans would love to pick up somebody because they wanted more durability out of Mark Jones

by TitanRob on Sep 5, 2009 8:02 PM CDT reply actions

In 2007

Figurs had a punt and a kick returned for a touchdown. That’s more than Chris Carr has ever had. Let’s pick him up.

so he’s definately got some wheels

Roderick Hood out of those 3, he would be a good nickel guy or a good fill in if Harper or Finnegan goes down

the NFL doesn’t use the fullback position like it used to, its all about single back sets and passing now a days.

CB/KR Justin Miller was cut by the Raiders

Didn’t we sign him months ago as a restricted free agent but then he went back to the Raiders, or is that my imagination?
Anyway, he solves our KR/PR issue, and maybe helps with the CB situation.

I hope they have...

….a return man on the radar. I’d hate to have to re-learn lessons from past seasons on minimizing the importance of the return games.

Ganther, Fowler, Jones……….I gotta admit, I’m a bit concerned about Special Teams right now. I’ve seen this before with the Titans/Oilers – getting spoiled by a good returner and then pretending there’ll be no drop-off when he’s gone (“we’ve got player X who can step right in and we’ll be fine”).

Maybe they already have something in mind. I hope so. I’m a little jittery right now with some of the holes on the team………….

I know Justin Miller personally

and he is an absolute beast in the return game as well as a slot reciever. The Raiders were dumb for releasing him and we would be making a good move to pick him up

You know me Pinoy......

I’m one to allow a player a little room to develop, but this dude has sucked from day one. He still sucks. Why he wasn’t cut, I can only guess. Maybe the Titans are looking for some value for him. That’s the only thing I can come up with.

#2 Pick.

That’s a lot of pride to swallow. I suspect they’ll just let the contract expire and then let him go.

It's mind boggling...

since we need a returner (Mark Jones) more than a fourth string RB.

I loved Figurs

at K state… I even drafted him to my madden league team. But he went from workin his way into some playin time with the Ravens receivers and full time kr to being in the doghouse real fast. Last yr they took the returning away from em for a while, and he saw no WR time at all after that. That scares me about him, cuz Harbaugh seems to be on his job.

Still would take him over Chris Henry all day.

I'd take.....

you’re son in Pop Warner over Henry.

maybe at first glance

but fisher stated in the preseason that he has never had a better group of db’s. so that would mean our subs are better this year than they were last year, at least in his eyes. i think mouton and mccourty were good picks, and cary williams looked decent in preseason.

by tdtommyd on Sep 6, 2009 7:04 AM CDT up reply actions

cary williams is no way decent

once we find a good backup db free agent, he will be the first one to go.
