Tennessee Titans Sign Mark Jones and Kevin Kaesviharn
The Titans agreed to terms today with returner Mark Jones and cornerback Rod Hood safety Kevin Kaesviharn. Both guys have experience in the return game and Hood can step in and help at corner.
To make room on the roster the Titans released running back Chris Henry and placed punter Craig Hentrich on IR, probably ending his career. Still no word on what practice squad move has been made to make room for Cary Williams.
It is good to have a couple of issues addressed with these moves, but it really makes me angry thinking about what would be different had they never cut Jones in the first place.
[UPDATE]- The Hood signing isn't confirmed yet. Sorry for the error.
[UPDATE #2]- Apparently there is no Hood signing. My bad guys.

Shouldn't have had to wait 3 weeks for this move.
This should’ve been done before the season started.
Also so much for that amazing diet for Hentrich. Love the guy, wish he got one more good season and that it didnt end like this.

It doesn't hurt.
But it does absolutely EXPOSE the arrogance that this staff showed in the pre-season. I hope Jones GOUGED them with the signing, because they had to have come hat-in-hand.

i bet you $3,000 T-Rac could cover better than Nick Harper
Also, he prefers using the word muff in the context of cheerleaders not punts. That’s how badass he is.

You would rather see the Titans lose so T-Rac would be gone
then see the Titans succeed and keep T-Rac.

I agree with you (for once)!
Great speed, no ball carrier vision. Reinfeldt has to do a better job scouting potential draft picks. He’s been……TURIBLE….TU-RI-BLE!
MrDeeboi33
That's not at all fair.
Rheiny had been in the job for, what, two days when they picked C. Henry? That pick was CLEARLY on the coaching staff. Since that draft, RHEINY has been very good with high draft picks. See also: M. Griffin, C. Johnson, K. Britt.

That's too bad for Hentrich.
I’m glad they didn’t cut him.
I am not, however, at all sad about Chris Henry.
Hallelujah!
Henry gone! Disappointed about Hentrich though. Hopefully Jones will have a vengeance due to us cutting him.

Kaesviharn has been a career backup for most of the eight seasons he has played in the NFL, six with Cincinnati and the past two in New Orleans.

Still curious to know what was up with Jones...
…when he flunked Carolina’s physical. Evidently, he’s over it now.
That’s just so weird.
Well, we cut Jones for not making enough of an impression in the offseason, hopefully he’s over the issue she had in camp.
different teams have different standards on physicals...
that is definitely something to keep an eye on.

Its too good to be true
Finally got rid of Henery. I am sad to see Hentrich go also. Does anyone recall seeing Kaesviharn play before?
I remember seeing him with the Bengals and the Saints
kind of defined good but not great… not a bad option to pull of the street though.

No.
Re-signing a guy that couldn’t make the team in the first place, and couldn’t find a home with another team doesn’t give me the warm fuzzies. But, then again, someone who can just catch a punt is an upgrade at this point.

Can I get a hell ya for our great drafting ways!!!
Chris Henry
Pacman Jones
Vince Young
Paul Williams
2 top 5 picks…..a 2nd and a 3rd rounder….wasted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PLEASE LETS NOT MAKE THIS A VY DISCUSSION
but it is waaaay too early to call Vince wasted.
by Aditya T (smashville) on Sep 29, 2009 6:06 PM CDT up reply actions
i agree
i’m a big VY fan and think he should be our QB this week against Jags…..
but with the way the coaching staff trusts vince and his impending release next Feb….he’ll be a wasted pick…….
heck, i love lendale, but we are not getting much bang for our buck out of him considering he is a 2nd round pick playing like 10 plays a game…….
but the main point is that many of us knew chris henry and paul williams were bad picks……i think some on here should admit they were wrong when they kept telling us we were irrational and stupid fans the day after the draft when we thought they were bad picks……“trust the coach”….“give them time”……“quit being negative fans”………no…….saying the chris henry and paul williams picks were wasted wasn’t being a bad fan….it was being realistic……and correct…..
Seriously, how did this just devolve into a VY argument?

There was nothing in this post to spur talk about VY. And yet it still happens.
At least keep it to relevant posts. That way some of us who are tired of the argument (irrespective to which side you fall on) can avoid that post.

bs
(besides the fact that the conditional you suggest has zero logical connection to the corresponding assertion you make)
some of us get sick and tired of not being able to go 30 seconds with out someone talking about how much they like vince young and why that means he should play over kerry because if a team isn’t winning it has to be the qb’s fault regardless of what actually happens on the field. “some of us” also tends to be the people who have invested a lot of time, whether through formal or informal participation, trying to make this place the best source for titans related content on the web.
we strive to keep things at least moderately intelligent around here and avoid repeating the same mindless argument over and over and over again. i’m sorry if that seems like such an overly ambitious goal to you. perhaps you might be interested in the comments section at the tennessean.com? espn has some great boards too.

Really....
He did win games for us. Vince did bring a little life and attention to the franchise. After McNair was traded to the Ravens, he came when the Titans needed him. Rookie of the Year Honors, Rookie Pro Bowl selection, and the cover of Madden 10, doesn’t that count for anything? How soon we forget! He did TRY to recruit the wideouts to come to Texas to work out with him. The trait is there. It’s the last year of his contract, what does the Titans have to lose? Playmakers and Caretakers don’t mix, no matter how you look at it.

because nobody....
wants to hear the truth. vy was the starter lost his job when he got hurt (some say b/c he gave up, ppl will believe what they want to), and kc is given the job as long as he produces, and then we start to win. it was great, but if he continues to play bad shouldnt the team be given back to the starter he received it from in the first place. ill give kerry collins a few more starts maybe even the next 5 or 6 games, but i wonder, will it be too late? vy is the guy that can create, all his problem was was adjusting to the speed of the nfl, as soon as that happens the game will come to him. im just waiting for his chance to come in and answer those questions, with the 1st team offense, in a complete game, and in the regular season.

Mark Jones wasn't all that impressive pre-season
However, catching the ball and not giving it to the other team will be enough for me to shout whoo hoo anymore. Bring him on.
Joy Kat
Kerry Collins is my evil twin.
Yeah, well, not impressive compared to what?
If he can reliably field punts and get even 5 yards as an average return, that will be a quantum leap forward. We could be, at least, 2-1 right now if we’d been able to field punts reliably.
DannoE
"You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one."
he only played in what 1 or 2
preseason games. he was hurt the rest of the time. Give a chance, at this point anything is an upgrade from what Mouton was doing. And we should cut Nick Harper and sign Roderick Hood immediately, I’ve been saying we should sign Hood since beginning of preseason.
