The end is near...
I hate to be a pessimist because I'm usually the ever optimist when it comes to this team. I say I bleed Titan blue, but I was reminded that I do bleed red yesterday after biting my lip during the last half of that game. (thanks Mouton) As I said in my headline, the end is near for our playoff hopes, if they're not already. I won't put yesterdays loss totally on KC though. Yes, he didn't have a good 2nd half, but Gage and Nate also dropped some catch-able balls. In the 2nd quarter he was making great throws, and our receivers were making good catches too. The defense looked much much better. We got pressure, sacks, and an INT. Our secondary was further exploited though when Vinny and Finny were out, but that's to be expected. I put this loss directly on Mouton and Fisher. Mainly Mouton for coughing up the ball *twice* within easy scoring range, and Fisher for repeatedly putting him back in. Lendale ran the ball well yesterday. Though I question why we haven't been splitting the carries better between Lendale and CJ. At least 60/40. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love CJ, but Lendale is a good back who needs more touches. It seems we're constantly hoping for the home-run with CJ so we keep him in, instead of softening up defenders some with Smash, then change up the pace with Dash.
Not only that, but looking at a bigger picture, with all of our key FAs, our playoff caliber team could be in real jeopardy at the end of the season. Which scares the hell out of me with our new GM. Sure, he's helped to make some good choices, but he's made some bad ones too. (exp. Chris Carr) He's already stated he doesn't really buy into FA being the best choice. He feels the draft is the way to go. It'll be at that time that I'll miss Floyd Reese. Yes, he always kept us at cap level, or usually over it. But he seemed to have the philosophy that you need to keep as many of your best players around as you can. And with Mike, his checkbook screeches when he tries to open it. When this season ends, I'm afraid there will be many Titans fans like me, who'll be disgusted, in tears, pissed off, etc. at our FO. I could be wrong, but he could be the reason we've not already brought in a returner. I've seen on here we must resign KVB and Keith. They're both great players and great leaders, but out of the two, it's Keith that has to be signed IMO. He's the guy we'd miss most between the two. Anyway, I'm just venting a little frustration.

I am not a member of the front office...
but the subject you bring up about Mikey not wanting free agents versus the draft are a bit off point. When he says this I beleive he is simply saying that he would rather build this team through the draft and not by acquiring a bunch of free agents. Which as most will tell you this is the correct mentality to have. It is better to draft your players than pay ungodly sums of money for another teams player

Oh, I agree..
the best way to build “up” a team is through the draft. But, I don’t agree that you let go of all your best players and fill their spots with rookies, or mediocre FA that you can get on the cheap. That’s partly why we’re 0-3 right now. Counting on rookies instead of getting someone proven. Besides, I really wasn’t meaning aquiring FA. I meant opening that checkbook to the FA we’ll soon have on our own team.

I agree that we need to retain some of our players.
Rumor has it that they are in talks with KVB and I really hope that they get Bulluck locked up. I would not mind seeing them get a new deal for Lendale if it is not way to expensive. Hey maybe thats why he is not getting that many touches they want to drive his price down. (just kidding)
As for the other things you say about counting on rookies and mediocore free agents who else is out there that we can get. We both agreed that we should not overpay to get free agents right, and that is what the Titans do. They have never been a team that makes a huge splash in free agency yet they do bring in a few players to help out. look at a few from this year.
Jovan Haye – not him or anyone else in the NFL is going to produce the numbers Big Al did last year for us, but he is a nice peice to fill into our rotation.
Nate Washington – I like his speed and attitude, but he drops too many catchable balls. I would say the verdict is still out.
As for the rookies you have to give them some time to develope. K—Britt has been great, Cook needs to emerge, Mouton though he scares the shit out of me when he is a returner shows promise as a CB and so does McCourty. I think this is a good group.
So again who else is out there that you would rather have? Yea it would be nice to see maybe Justin Miller come in and be our returner, other than that there is just not a lot of help out there. I sometimes wish that the Titans would make a big splash and sign a huge weapon as a free agent during the offseason, and even get mad when they dont. Then I tell myself it is for the better, most of the time they dont work out as hoped for (see Fat Al in Washington) and even when they do they put the team back in the Flloyd Reese era of salary cap hell! I would rather take this approach and keep some of our key players that wont cost us a fortune. At least we will not have to purge the entire roster and spend 3-4 years of rebulding, with this logic we should be competivie for years to come

By the way
Losing Chris Carr was a really big blow, a lot bigger than most of could have ever thought.

I believe I said at the time that it was an idiotic move to let him go.

We also...
Need to keep scaife around…our passing game looks lost without him. Crumpler looks good but Cook is almost non-existant.

Chris Carr sends his best. He says the weather is great and the record couldn’t be better. Write soon.
Not sure why your so high on Bullock. He’s good but pathetic in zone pass defence. Pitt. smoked him and he looked like a scare grow inviting birds.

hey gramsey. sorry about the record. no sarcasm intended but it has to suck to be 3 under this early. the bright side is you have the talent to still make the playoffs. i think you can have 4 more loses (if you have them) and make it this year. so 9-4 here on out?
