Jets 24 Titans 17 Quick Recap

I have to run out right now, but the blame for this loss is squarely on the shoulders of Jeff Fisher.  His refusal to get someone in a Titans uniform that can at least field a punt cost us this game.

Also, Kerry Collins was terrible today.  MCM Radio tonight.  Feel free to call in and let it fly.

no point winning games now

even if we go to playoff there is no way we can win SB with this team.

we should start VY not because he is going to be better than collins but he has potential so why not see what he can do for rest of the season.

i’m excited for april draft :) we might have top 5 pick

VY can't play any worse than Collins

There’s no point in playing the veteran if he’s gonna throw picks and fumble away games.

by theologic on Sep 27, 2009 3:20 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

He also can't play any better with receiver play like that.

Changing the quarterback does not fix this team right now.

I agree

I don’t think VY comes in and turns everything around. I think he’d come in and probably play about the same, but at least our “QB of the future” could get some reps and some game experience. Collins is as good as he’s every gonna get, which isn’t very good.

by theologic on Sep 27, 2009 3:31 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

i have to disagree....

with only the playing about the same, yes VY has shown us some of same play in the past, but i want to see the play in the present and future. and to tell you the truth the WR’s had to bail out KC’s passes today that were completed, but i will say there were drops…and INT’s also for that matter. wish we had only had KC sign a one year trial.

heres hoping that collins can turn it around….AND SOON!

You Can't Put This On Collins

How many times in the second half did he put the ball right on the hands of a receiver and it wasn’t cought? Dropped passes, through the hands, off the fingertips lost this game.

But he did throw 2 picks. I’m just saying you might as well play VY.

You can't expect...

13 for 13. There were at least 7 flat out drops or catches that pro receivers have to make. The int’s were bad but not the whole story.

I was at the game. I agree that our special teams was abysmal. The coaching staff is to ble as well as the players. You cannot put players out there that don’t know how to catch a punt. That is inexcusable.
The defense actually stiffened after the first drive. I still think Cecil is an idiot. I saw no variety in terms of blitzes.
Finally nat Washington is the biggest pussy in the NFL. You get paid what to drop balls?

refuse to blame the receivers

anytime the ball came close to the wr, which was rare in the 2nd half, the receiver had to be fully extended falling down to get a hand on it. plus stand in and take a hit collins. any pressure he throws it away why can’t he stand and deliver a throwable ball??

the defense looked reasonably better, but they still gave up some big plays, v.full was a big loss…nate washington started good, but did have 3 or 4 key drops, and that’s 3 0r 4 too many…although those dropped passes dont really have a chance of happening if KC DOES’T THROW TWO DUMB*SS INT"S earlier in the game and kill drives (in double and triple coverages!!)…ok, im not saying VY goes in and automatically wins this game, but he does have ALOT of chances in this game to use his athletic ability to create for himself or his receivers to get open and doesnt just throw it away after his first option…LENDALE is our power runner that will match power for power (first player to put up a TD on the jets) why go away from that?

With a franchise QB....

…you can reload instead of rebuild.

With a “game manager” QB, you either dominate from start-to-finish, or you lose; and because of that you can spend a lot of time rebuilding.

Start VY, see what we’ve got.. If he proves to be a QB of the future (again), then great! If not, well keep losing and be in position to let him go and draft a QB of the future, who can learn under Collins in Kerry’s last year of his contract.

demands that we learn THIS year whether or not he’s “our guy.” Otherwise he will be “our guy” for years to come even if he sucks.

We have to find out now, THIS year, whether Vince should be under center next year, or KC as we groom a blue-chip rookie.

Bad Breaks

This one is definitely on Fisher. This season we’re a good team that has had break takes and poorly timed mistakes. We’re losing to good teams by very slim margins. Not sure why people are saying we suck, or were never this good last year. In a span on three games a good team can lose all three in any sport.

I wouldn’t mind seeing VY get some snaps, but I don’t think he’s the answer to anything

Way To Go Titans!!! You don’t want to run the Wildcat despite the fact that if Vince Young runs it AS the STARTER, most defenses won’t pick up on it. You rather let Kerry Collins play the captain on the Titanic. Giving CJ most of the touches won’t work either. Not lettin’ LenDale see the field until you are lucky enough to get in the redzone. Jeff Fisher knows he has a mutiny on his hands. Pride before the fall. Kerry play with Randy Moss and couldn’t get the ball to him in Oakland (Brady’s not havin’ a problem!) Hmmmmmm..........

You got a point they never Vince the center of the offense anyway. The only reason Vince played his rookie season is because he was tryin’ to save his job. Do you realize the only weapons they had that year was VY, Keith Bullock, and……(Drum Roll, Please)………ADAM "PACMAN’ JONES Now that you gotta halfback that can run a 4.2, and a receiver in the 1st Round, you don’t need him. He showed you in the preseason, makin’ plays when KC choked. It’ll be funny if Vince pulls a Randall Cunningham and wins with another team and puts up monster numbers. Collins sucked today, no doubt. I am not wanting to see VY yet, but

I would like to watch Patrick Ramsey or some other QB come in and give it a shot. Ultimately, Kerry will have to be replaced. Bradford would be a great choice Sanchez had a fumble actually two fumbles, but he recovered his 2nd. The Titans killed themselves AGAIN and I am so sick of it.

I really really hate to get into the VY ramble, but...

If you’re against putting VY in now that we’re 0-3, give me a good reason why.

Now is the perfect time to find out if he needs to stay with the team. Kerry was good last year when we had our defense and run game going, but that’s just not happening this year. We all pretty much agree that he isn’t built to come back in games. What’s to say that hels built to help a team come back in the season. We’re just looking at more of the same if he stays in. Blame it on the recievers or whatever, but it still doesn’t explain his turnovers. He was our QB last year because he didn’t turn the ball over.

We’re paying Vince more so why not at least get some entertainment out of it and see some ridiculously stupid turnovers. And if a miracle happens maybe he’ll decide to revert back to his 05 form when he came in to a 1-4 team.

Vince carried a much lesser team...

…to a nice winning streak.

I’d like to see IF he can do it again. One thing is for certain: Collins can not.

I think he can.......

He got benched when he was at Texas and came back and won a National Championship It’s in him. I seen it in the preseason. He did have the most TD passes in the preseason. It doesn’t mean much to some people, but he does have somethin’ Kerry lacks.

Since you wanna go there......

1. He can extend plays 2. You make the Defensive Ends to contain, thus softening the pass rush. 3. He finally will have a receiver who has the instincts to try to keep a play going 4. He has a sense of the moment 5. It is his destiny

not having the sense of the moment...

is where you see KC get sacked alot/ throw it away as his first option most of the time, and NOT making plays with his feet, that VY can. and destiny….remains to be seen b/c VY remains on the bench, helpless to do anything for his team.

it should be win-win situation for us

Fisher has to blame this lose to someone (because we all know he won’t blame himself or his coaching stuff)

either Mouton or Collins

if he replaces at least one of them than i’m glad.

by LastSd on Sep 27, 2009 4:43 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

My thoughts exactly, Jimmy.

Defense played well. Running game was VERY good.

Passing offense was good early, bad late—again. Collins has been bad in the second half ALL SEASON.

Mouton looks like a good CB. Defense was much better today than it has been so far all season. But he’s a TERRIBLE returner. Special teams killed the Titans today, and has now—arguably—cost them all three games.

Arguably?

I don’t think anybody with one eye and half a brain cell could say anything BUT shitty special teams play cost us all three games so far.

Mouton indeed looks like a decent CB, but is clearly a terrible returner. It’s almost as if Fisher stubbornly refuses to be wrong- almost like he put so much stock in this guy already he won’t change.

SOMETHING needs to change, and fast. If you hadn’t panicked before today’s game, you’ve got to be hard-pressed to be optimistic at this point.

by TNTitans on Sep 27, 2009 6:26 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I panicked last week and feel vindicated.

And yeah, I’m not gonna torch these guys for picking Mouton because the guy can absolutely cover. And so can freakin’ McCourty. Solid CBs. Maybe not Finnegan solid, but they can obviously play.

Special Teams is awful.

BTW, since it looks like we might hve a high draft pick this year...

… can we PLEASE draft an actual franchise QB. Id’ kill to have Chris Sims and Chris Carr on the roster right now.

And did someone say Carr couldn’t start on this D? With Fuller’s injury, he’d now be the #2 CB.

fisher needs to get mouton out of the retrun game

i kind of like him as a db today filling in for fuller. i thought he was going to have a chance to come in and play and show what hes got. but being the sole reason we lost i really dought it did much for his confidence in the db game. fisher needs to get him out to salvage moutons confidence and not ruin him for good.
it feels like we all know more then our coachs when it comes to a returner. everybody on here was right and fisher was wrong. sorry to say iam not going to put much creed into the next laod of shit proclamation our coach trys to get us to belive.

Insult to injury

Two of the teams we’ve now lost to are now 1-2.

I didn’t think I’d call for it yet, but it’s time. Bring in Vince. He can’t be worse than Collins. Get him in now while people are pissed and there is a quasi easy game on the horizon. A win next week followed by two more losses will only muddy the waters and prolong the inevitable QB change.

by SuperHorn on Sep 27, 2009 6:27 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Agreed, SH. Hate to say it, but my prediction for Collins this game was dead on.

If you bring in Vince now, and he gets the win next week, then the parallels to 2006 will be apparent to everyone. Even if you’re a Collins fan, what would be the point in continuing to play him? At least see what you have in Vince, so that you can cut him loose after the season if it doesn’t work out.

Just like to point out

that the defending champion Steelers are 1-2. And they always find a way to win close games it seems right? Everybody loses close games every now and then. Yes the secondary needs serious work, yes Kerry has played aweful. But we’ve been in every single game this season, and lost them close. There are many changes that are needed, but absolute panic is not going to solve anything. This teams post season is not over yet, and yes i do believe that. If the cards win tonight we’re right in the same boat we were when we started this morning. Yes it will be hard, but the Dolphins went toe-to-toe with Indy and blew it. The Pats do not look all that impressive although they are a very good football team. Before I get everybody saying oh were 0-3 and its over and all this, I DO believe things to need to be changed, such as the amount of time Ryan Mouton practices catching punts and kicks. Where’s Javon Ringer? Where’s Jared Cook? Things need to change, but giving up hope and already calling an early draft pick is rediculous. And guys, we need to slow the hate on KC train just a tad. He’s been in this league for so long for a reason. He CAN PLAY. Everybody has bad games and its unfortunate that he chose his worst so far when we’re already 0-2. Rant Finished.

by jacobb23 on Sep 27, 2009 6:36 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

No.

No. No.

Not this time. Not again. Kerry doesn’t continue to get a pass. He cannot play well from behind. EVER. And, I’ve got news for you. He’s going to be forced to play from behind more this season.

His play in the second half is inexcusable. There is nothing left to defend. He’s done. And, he’s at the end of his career. There are no longer any reasonably good reasons to start Kerry. He’s now lost 5 of his last 6 games.

by SuperHorn on Sep 27, 2009 6:48 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I Agree

Time for a change. Besides all eyes are on Vince even though he is the SECOND STRING QUARTERBACK! Makes you think, doesn’t it?

MrDeeboi33

by MrDeeboi33 on Sep 28, 2009 1:03 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Look

I’m not calling for Collins’ head, not yet. He has played pretty badly so far, but he’s not the reason that we’re losing football games.

But don’t kid yourself: Collins was not brought into TN to win football games. He is not a game winner, he is a game manager. He was brought in to protect whatever small lead we have by not making mistakes and to give our defense a rest by running off some clock while on offense.

Kerry Collins is not a playmaker, he has demonstrated time and time again that he cannot orchestrate game-winning drives, and it appears that cracks in his armor are beginning to show, what with all of the turnovers that he’s had in the past 3 games.

Sorry, you may hate VY and you may not want him to play, ever again. But PLEASE do not fool yourself into thinking that Kerry Collins “CAN PLAY” because you’re just wrong.

by TNTitans on Sep 27, 2009 7:15 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

very good points guys..and I guess I just didn't make my opinions

correctly versed or something..I went to a UT practice one-time and shook Vince Young’s hand. I LOVE HIM (as a player) i’ve wanted him to get the chance to redeem himself ever since he hit the bench. Every time I hear a friend call VY a psycho, I stick up for him, so let me drive this point home a little clearer and pardon the caps. I AM NOT GIVING KERRY A PASS. BUT, I have seen the guy play and he’s a lot better than many give him credit for, I just don’t like hearing that people think this team is 0-3 solely because of KC. I would love more than anything to see Vince turn this team around. There are a ton of things this team needs to fix, and while they are numerous I think its a bit early for the “Who should we draft” thinking. We have plenty of winnable games left. This team won 10 in a row last year correct? So, in summary 1) Its not solely Kerrys fault 2) And this season is NOT over. YET.

by jacobb23 on Sep 27, 2009 7:24 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

ok so i totally just accidentally deleted a huge post in follow up

but I’ll restate my 2 main points. I am a huge VY fan and want to see him play because I really love him as a player. I’ve been pulling for him the entire time since he got out, and this preseason I thought he proved he’s come a long way. And I am in no way giving Kerry a pass because he has played horribly. But it is not solely his fault and today the receivers were struggling holding on to passes. Sure, some of them he did not throw well, hell maybe most of them. But NFL receivers should catch everything that hits their hands. Ask larry fitzgerald. Yes I know he nor any nfl receiver is PERFECT, but there were tons of drops today. The exact reason we drafted Kenny Britt. So case in point he ( Kerry) does not get a free pass, and I want VY in the game. But it is not solely Kerrys fault. For the first time in a while alot of the blame needs to go to Jeff Fisher. I also refuse to believe this season is over, and can’t believe some people think we’re already destined to have a high draft pick. The season is NOT over, but many things need to be changed. Quickly.
