Former Jaguars receiver Matt Jones, who worked out for the Titans last week, is on the radar. But another player popped on the market Thursday: receiver Bobby Wade, who was released by the Vikings.

Wade is a former Titan. He's also a return man, something the Titans need.

Just in case anyone missed that note deep in this link from this morning. Jones is a better receiver, but Wade's familiarity and versatility could get him the spot. Anyone we sign now will have a non-guaranteed contract.

Question is, who do we cut? coughCHRIS HENRYcough

Yeah

Henry was soooooooooooooooo good on special teams this preseason we just couldn’t cut him. That is why he was inactive last night..

Also

Wade had 54 and 53 catches in the last 2 years respectively.

2 things I hate criticizing are roster moves and playcalling because so many factors I am unaware of as a fan play into it

But I can’t help to this time around. I don’t know what they saw from Finnegan that made them think he’d be fine, and on top of that, it’s like they’re begging for our most valuable defensive player to get hurt! It’s ridiculous. What exactly did we solve in those 5 preseason games?

agree agree agree

But I gotta put a shout-out for my boy #33 for mayor of “most valuable defensive player” town.

Christie kicks it high and short...Gonna be fielded by Lorenzo Neal at the 25...He dishes it back to Wycheck...He throws it across the field to Dyson...

the only thing about matt jones

is he would send britt to the bench, and virtually bury him when washington returns. not sure i like that idea. i want to use nate’s down time to give britt the early experience. he didn’t get the job done on the jump ball, but that’s an experience thing. polamalu also made an all-world play. on the replay it looked like britt simply thought it would carry over polamalu’s reach, but again, troy made an insane play. overall britt exceeded any reasonable expectations you can have for a rookie in their first game, playing against an elite defense.

if wade can still return, do it and do it now.

I would expect..

…more of a rotation.

Plus, remember how hard it is to have both starting WRs healthy all year long. Also, Britt is the future, and Jones would only be a short-term signing. Kenny will be around for some time to come. I look forward to several years of Britt getting better and better and better.

I must say, however, as the guy who has been calling for veteran help: I have seen Bobby Wade multiple times over (with Bears here in Chicago, and on TV regularly with Vikes because of division rivalry). I’m not of the opinion he would improve the team. He’s not exactly impressive or reliable as either a WR or return man, and has constantly gotten in the doghouse for misreads and missed assignments. He’s also got “fumble fingers.”

I agree Wade is the better choice

But I don’t think Jones would relegate Britt to the bench. He is too good. Last night he showed a lot. I think Jones would be more of a 3rd down/situational/red zone target than the normal rotation 3rd Wideout.

DUDE LED THE VIKES IN RECEPTIONS

for the past two yeARS

Once upon a time you dressed so fine
You threw the bums a dime in your prime, didn't you?
People'd call, say, "Beware doll, you're bound to fall"
You thought they were all kiddin' you.

Say it with me:

HE ONLY NEEDS TO RETURN PUNTS!

Beyond that, he can play on Special Teams and provide depth at WR. This is not a bad thing.

Besides, it's better than saying...

“Dude couldn’t even GET ON THE FIELD WHEN THE TITANS DESPERATELY NEEDED A WR IN A YEAR THEY WENT 13 and 3
