Titans to Cut Roster Down to 75 in NFL Roster Trim Down

Today the Titans will have to trim their roster by 4 players to get down to the NFL-mandated 75 players by 5 p.m. central.  This is the first in two cut down days with the second coming Saturday when the roster has to be at 53 players.

Click through the jump for predictions on the 4 players cut today and another stab at the 53 man roster by yours truly.

Star-divide

I think the 4 cut today will be Matt Lehr, Rocky Boiman, Phillip Morris and LaJuan Ramsey.  Lehr and Boiman because they could have a shot of catching on with another team and aren't going to make this one.  Morris and Ramsey because they aren't going to make this team, and the Titans don't want either of them on the practice squad.

53 Man Prediction (new additions in italics)

QB

Kerry Collins, Vince Young (2)

RB

Chris Johnson, LenDale White, Javon Ringer, Ahmard Hall, Quinton Ganther (5)

WR

Nate Washington, Justin Gage, Kenny Britt, Lavelle Hawkins, Dominique Edison (5)

TE

Alge Crumpler, Bo Scaife, Jared Cook, Craig Stevens (4)

OL

Michael Roos, Jake Scott, Kevin Mawae, Eugene Amano, David Stewart, Leroy Harris, Mike Otto, Troy Kropog (8)

DE

Kyle Vanden Bosch, Jevon Kearse, Jacob Ford, William Hayes, Dave Ball (5)

DT

Tony Brown, Jovan Haye, Jason Jones, Sen'Derrick Marks, Kevin Vickerson (5)

LB

Keith Bulluck, Stephen Tulloch, David Thornton, Ryan Fowler, Gerald McRath, Stanford Keglar (6)

CB

Cortland Finnegan, Nick Harper, Ryan Mouton, Cary Williams, DeMarcus Faggins, Jason McCourty (6)

S

Michael Griffin, Chris Hope, Vincent Fuller, Donnie Nickey (4)

ST

Rob Bironas, Craig Hentrich, Ken Amato (3)

Not a lot of change from my first prediction with only Patrick Ramsey and Mark Jones dropping off.

The nickle position is scary enough. But, we would be in dire straits if either of our starting corners went down, especially Finn.

The more I think about it, Danno’s right. We’re a really bad spot if Cortland gets hurt.

Yeah, it'd be no good times.

You’d be stuck with a line that can’t rush and a lot of trouble bringing up the safeties.

The cuts are in

PK has them as Dudley Guice, Rafael Little, Matt Lehr, and Tyson Smith.

BTW, if the Titans really only keep 5 WRs, and these are the five they keep...

…how weird will it be to have a WR-corps in which every member can actually CATCH THE DAMNED BALL!

After McCareins last year, I swear I was ready to put in the wishbone.

Add Cook in that mix too.

I think the coaching staff is just waiting to unleash this guy. I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see him lining up as the #3 guy in the slot against the Steelers.

Good breakdown...

the only thing i see as a little bit of a prob, is faggins. after watching him play with the texans and coming over as a titan, although a decent CB i notice him getting burned off the snap and not being able to recover fast enough to make a play on the ball. and the most recent that hit me was that one hander bray caught that didnt count, hes gotta get up there and break that up, in bounds or not.
