Tennessee Titans Morning Links: The Injuries Are Piling Up Edition
As we probably all know by now, Nate Washington went down with an apparent hamstring injury yesterday at practice, and will miss the rest of the pre-season at the least. It's not quite cause for panic yet, but the last thing this team and fanbase needs is lingering injuries to the team's most improved unit.
The Titans' players Jim Wyatt talked to see a connection in Chris Davis being cut and his recent DUI. That's probably because they aren't brain dead.
Speaking of needing to get the led out and get back on the practice field, you can lump DT Jason Jones (who is still injured) into that group as well. LenDale White and Jevon Kearse were also dinged-up yesterday, but they seem to be well enough to keep going.
Follow us through the link for more injury related notes...
Of course this turn of events offers Florio the perfect opportunity reiterate his seemingly baseless speculation as a previously established fact. Never mind the fact that it's neither established or a fact.
DannoE called it as soon as news hit here: 3rd rounder Ryan Mouton has a high ankle sprain. That'll take longer than originally thought to heal.
The Titans Cheerleaders will unveil this year's swimsuit calander tomorrow, August 25th, at Cabana over in Hillsboro Village. More details can be found here.

Way too many...
And no matter if they’re serious injuries or not, it’s key players. Last seasons success was largely due to our health, and we’re not off to a good start in that area.

It's no worse than a lot of teams are doing right now.
Breaking it down:
Nate Washington – Depends on severity since hammy’s can linger, but let’s say six weeks. Still, this would have been much more of a disaster in recent years.
Jason Jones – Isn’t he back at practice? I thought he was supposed to play this week.
Lendale White – Still active. Not a dire loss Ringer backing him up.
Jevon Kearse – Still active. Also not a dire loss, though probably worse for the Run D.
Ryan Mouton – Yeah, this one is bad. If V. Fuller can’t get on the field soon, this will be a big deal.
Jacob Ford – He’s missed a lot of time, no? Pagin Dave Ball…
Kerry Collins – At 36, the dings are gonna happen. Hell, I’ve been injured twice this tri season, and I’m probably doing 1/10th of what Kerry’s doing. That said, he doesn’t have to run and cut on that knee. he just needs to be able to backpedal and plant.
Kevin Mawae – I’m starting to doubt Mawae will ever be the same player again. But I think it’s a push with Leroy Harris, save for the (more than) occasional botched snap.
Patrick Ramsey – We’re concerned because of the 3rd string QB? That’s like Colts fans worrying because Sorgi’s been out all pre-season.
And finally, you forgot the costliest injury on the team, which is to V. Fuller. He’s the starting Nickel CB, and his absence would be way worse than N. Washington’s in the opener. Is he back already?

Jones was still out yesterday
they keep saying it’s no big deal, but he’s only a 2nd year guy and still learn a lot from getting balled-out by Washburn throughout camp!
I’m kinda with you on Mawae. If he comes back, and has lost any strength at all, then Harris should take that spot… not to sound conspiratorial, but I’ll bet it’ll be tough to bench the president of the NFLPA the season before the CBA negotiations really kick-up. I hope that isn’t a problem…

I'm not so sure.
I think Fisher will hold him until he’s either really ready or ready to make just a single snap in the Super Bowl (ala last year’s plan). On the other hand, what he lacks in sheer strength, he more than makes up for in his ability to adjust the protections at the line. The O-Line in general is much better at pass-blocking when he’s in. The problem is in run-blocking IMHO. That, to me, is where Harris out-performed last year.

Nickelback Vincent Fuller increased his workload yesterday to include some team drills.

True, but...
The first six weeks of our schedule is the most brutal. The time when we need all these guys on the field healthy.

our wr talent pool is so shallow.
we need washington. Edison/Hawkins/Guice as our #3 wideout is scary. Hopefully Cook can line up in the slot because to be honest I dont want any of those 3 guys on the field much once the regular season starts.

I'm not worried, it could actually be a blessing
This means Kenny Britt will most likely see 1st team playing time. I think the more experience he gets with the first squad, the more we’re going to find out he was the receiver we’ve been looking for all along.
Note to Lavelle Hawkins – if you can’t step up now, you ain’t ever gonna step up

agree about britt, but.....
i would still like to see nate vs. his former team on opening day in the hopes that he plays an excellent game. hope its not too serious and he can come back on sept 10 and contribute, his speed opens up alot for the other WR’s to make a play, especially if hes able to draw off the safety.
