VY will be starting by week 7

I dont know about you guy but I personally think VY will be our starting QB by week 7. I have never lost faith in the guy.Thats just my gut feelin though. I think the pressure will get to Collins and he will start to lose it. Our first few games are gonna be brutal so if he plans on keeping his job he better step it up! If not then I would love to see VY step in and save the day!

No so fast my friend!

Look…….I am as big of a VY fan as anybody, and I got just as excited about the TB game as everybody else did. BUT….KFC is the starter and if we were to lose 4 of the first 6 you might see VY…However KFC is calm and cool, he will not “lose it” as you state and barring major injuries we are not going to drop 4 out of 6 to start the season. I think it is very likely that VY gets into a lot more games this year as the club has set up this QB of the future role. Go back and look at how the franchise handled McNair. That is what they realize now should have happend with VY but he was thrust into the starting role and made a great role. He will more likely be our Starter next season as it will be Collins last as a Titan and probably in the league all together.

I hope I am wrong I hope something has clicked and he can become Superman again, but it is more likely that this year will be used as a confidence builder for him and the franchise.

Someone once said "Vince Young bleeds two toned blue!" But I disagree, because The Great One Doesnt Bleed!!

Lets let reality set in

VY is a comodity. He will be treated as such. That comodity(VY) will benifit the Titans one way or the other. There is NO WAY that Bud Adams will jeopardize his investment. VY will either be seen:
1. Playing and leading that team to greatness, or
2. Be percieved as a quarterback with great talent, that only needs the right coach to have him reach his true potential.
There are only two reasons that VY is playing right now:
1. its preseason
2. Its an opportunity to quiet SOME of the VY fans.
We all know that VY is an awsome athlete, but I still don’t think he has the level of maturity to lead a group of truly gifted athletes. When he made the descision to go back to school rather than work on the skills that will increase his profession, THAT SPOKE VOLUMES!!!!!!!
His greatest feat, will be to descide what he wants to be, either the Big Man on Campus, (UT that is) or a quarterback with the total package in the NFL.
Either Way, his tenure will benifit the Titans. (I’m sure we’ll get great offers for him).

I know; I wish fewer athletes put stock in getting an education, because you know, financial success is the only reason to get one rolls eyes. You can quibble about his timing but plenty of athletes do that.

We had this exact same conversation last year.

Last year I thought maybe the folks (i.e. Superhorn) might be right. This year… no. Barring injury, I strongly doubt it.

Let's hope that you're wrong.

Because the only way that happens is if the Titans are losing games. Or, Kerry gets injured…but there is no way to predict something like that.

They have Sorgi ahead of VY, I don’t think so.

I'm so sick of hearing this
21. Vince Young, Tennessee — Young has made some decent strides this preseason, but the fact that he’s trying to hold off veteran Patrick Ramsey at No. 2 rather than battling Kerry Collins for the No. 1 job is all you need to know about where his stock resides in Tennessee as his make-or-break fourth NFL season dawns.

I mean, does anyone really believe that he’s battling with Patrick Ramsey?

nope

I do.

And I think he could lose. I also think that he isn’t losing and won’t and that, in fact, he is going to wind up looking good by comparison. But yes, I think it was a legitimate battle and that if VY had continued to flounder, he could have effectively become the #3.

No way.

If for no other reason than Bud Adams wouldn’t allow it.

One other thing I’ve got to get out there too, because it’s entirely overplayed. Vince is going to have to restructure his contract. Even if he plays lights out, he’s going to have to restructure, whether it’s here or elsewhere. That’s the reality he’s facing. The whole notion that it’s do or die time for Vince is so overblown. If he doesn’t win the starting job back by next year, it doesn’t mean he’s automatically out the door. Yet, it’s in nearly every article written about the guy, as if no one ever renegotiates contracts. Hell, he’s agent has come out and said they’d be willing to discuss.

Bottom line, if the coaching staff likes what they’re seeing with Vince, he’s going to be a Titan next year.

Dude

The coach never said he was battling Ramsey for the 2nd spot who came up with this crap? If he was then how come Patrick Ramsey isn’t getting snaps with the first team? Wow nobody knows get out of here VY is battling for the No. 2 and everyone knows this except the VY haters! That’s why these low budget so called sports writers keep on saying stupid things like this, just like they tried to say the titans talked to Harrison the media lies just to sell a story and this is something alot of people fail to realize if the coach doesn’t say it then it’s not true!

There is no way to tell who will be playing at that point

What if Collins goes down to injury and VY comes in and starts stinking it up or gets hurt? Ramsey may be the guy, you just can’t predict the future.

I've got a thought about this particular thread :0

Do you guys remember when you were a kid, playing Nintendo and it wouldn’t work? You take the cartridge out, blow in it and that would magically fix the problem. Every kid in America did that, but how did we all know how to fix the problem? There was no internet or message boards or FAQ’s. We just figured it out. Today’s kids are soft.

by palpacino on Aug 21, 2009 11:25 AM CDT reply actions

Man, the Nintendo was cool

Not everyone read Nintendo Power, though. Somehow, everyone still knew about all the little tricks about blowing in the cartridge, rattling it around, resetting, and putting it in roughly. We all just knew.

by TheElusiveShadow on Aug 21, 2009 11:58 AM CDT up reply actions

lol

Somehow I think VY never got this kind of stuff. The important stuff you’re supposed to know. Even if you didn’t have a nintendo, you knew someone that had one.

KC, however, was old enough to buy one with his first job probably. Therefore, he is ahead in life and more in a position to lead us to a tecmo bowl. I mean a super bowl.

LT was pretty freakin bad in Tecmo too

Man you could basically bum rush from the outside and blow nearly every play up.

Bo Jackson was unreal though, he ever got the corner it was one cutback and then you were gone.
