Why we are doomed
The off-season seemed to go pretty well for the Titans, barring the McNair tragedy. I liked most of the moves made. Losing Albert was a bit of a bummer, but when you take the money into account, it was inevitable. Coaches stayed stable except for D-coord, and I like Chuckie. A bit shy with media and in person, more so than the Schwartz, but I'm sure he's just as intense a coach as he was a player. Draft class seems promising. Now after the first pre-season game I continue to be impressed. Nate Washington looks like he could be huge for us, and Titans have epic bad luck in the WR department, whether it's draft of FA signing. The fact that NW may actually work out for us is a bit mind bending. Even if Britt slams a car door on his hand this weekend, or ruins his hamstring getting out of a hot tub, it still looks good for the receiving corps. I'm sure the running game will be there, the passing offense looks to be better, and I think the secondary will be better. D-line is the only thing that gives me much hesitation, and that's prob gonna be pretty solid too, if not quite as good as last year. VY is still surrounded with controversy, but this year it's only controversy surrounding a backup. Unless Kerry slips on a banana peel, it's page two stuff - a side-show.
So therefore, clearly, something really bad is going to happen. With all these positive signs, there's a snake in the grass somewhere. Will the players go on strike in the middle of the season? WIll Fisher shave his 'stache causing a five game losing streak? WIll Kerry Collins start dating Jessica Simpson? Will T-Rac, the most deadly mascot in the NFL, run a cart over Chris Johnson's foot? I dunno, but all this good karma is gonna boomerang and bite us in the ass somewhere.

As long as Ed Reed doesn't show up with his bat, I think we will be fine.

OK so I’ve decided that I’m going to follow the Titans more closely this season. Can someone tell me what I need to know about the players and the organization? And no, Im not a bandwagonner, Tennessee is the team closest to where I live

This may be too basic but here goes
- Moved to Nashville from Houston (used to be oilers) in 1997, played two seasons as the Tennesse Oilers (one in Memphis and one using Vandy Stadium in Nashville) before their new Stadium and name debuted for the 1999 season.
- Their debut season as the Titans in 99 included the Music City Miracle and the trip to the super bowl, so they burned themselves into hearts and minds of their fan-base pretty dramatically.
- Jeff Fisher has been the coach since their 1994, before their move from Texas. He’s currently the longest tenured head coach of all the NFL teams.
- Their style of play tends to be conservative and physical. FIery defense, usually not constant blitzing but a stress on pressure by the four down lineman. Run offense is stressed. It’s not an elegant style of play, they want to line up and clobber the other team.
- Most revered ex player from Titans era is probably Steve McNair, QB of the superbowl year, closely followed by Eddie George and Frank Wycheck.
- Last few years under new GM Mike Reinfeldt (sp?) have appeared to be very good drafts. There are a lot of promising young players.
- Coaching staff very stable, even outside of Fish. The defensive line coach (Jim Washburn) is legendary, and is turning the Titans into a DL factory for the rest of the league.
- They sell out every year; very loyal fan base.
- The mascot is a racoon, apparently, and has injured a couple of people and I believe the organization still has a pending lawsuit regarding one of them. So beware. He came ‘round goosing the cheerleaders and spraying water into the stands last night, and I made sure to keep my head down till he’d moved on.
- There is apparently a lot of controversy and discussion regarding their young QB, Vince Young. I hadn’t noticed myself.

Thank you. I knew a lot of that but parts of it were new info to me.
One questioin though.
Which defensive players are good?

Practically all of em
No, srsly. It’s a good defensive unit. The most well known are probably CB Cortland Finnegan, LB Keith Bulluck, FS Michael Griffin, DE Kyle Vanden Bosch and DE Jevon Kearse. The DL is also pretty good and has decent depth, but lost their star this past offseason (the infamous Big Al Hayesworth).

I vote for the 'stache shave
Also the crazy raccoon rabidly running over players. I love karma, and boomerangs are cool.
