Tennessee Titans Morning Links: Still Feeling Sick Edition
The Nashville Post (h/t to pigskin pundits for linking it in the fanposts) has some disturbing details on the people involved on the periphery of Steve McNair's murder. It's worth reading because if this thing turns into a circus you can blame it on one of these clowns.
The only town that may be taking this loss harder is Steve's hometown of Mt. Olive, Miss.
Brad Gagnon at thescore.com makes the case for Steve McNair's inclusion in the Hall of Fame, and why statistics aren't the only measure of greatness.
Many thanks to the Titans blogs Titan Sized and T-Rac's Posse for their great coverage and thoughts on this tragedy. Titans fans need to bind together over this right now, and blogs are often the most direct outlet available.
Analysts from across the NFL landscape are hoping that the circumstances of McNair's murder don't stain an amazing and inspiring playing career.
Jason Whitlock saying he isn't the morality police is a pretty hilarious statement even if he didn't break-out his badge and baton just a few paragraphs later.

That Jason Whitlock article...
is the most classless piece of crap writing I have ever read. He jumps to way too many conclusions about a situation we still know nothing about. Until McNair’s wife comes forward and says something, we don’t know what the details of their relationship were, and just because he was spending time with a woman doesn’t necessarily make him a bad father. The man was a millionaire, he could’ve been flying home to see his kid every other night for all we know. Certainly, unless he and his wife were on a trial separation or something, he set a bad example, but for all we know they might have been. UGH! I’m not the morality police, but Jason Whitlock is a dickmonger…
There I feel better now.
agreed
as is Don Banks. His SI article wretchedly downplays Air’s accomplishments, basically saying, “I guess he’s not who we thought he was…” Disgusting
part of me likes whitlock sometimes
and part of me can’t wait until he gets caught doing something that knocks him off of his damned high horse… seriously though, that horse needs a break!

That thing from the Nashville Post is ridiculous.
It’s not at all good reporting. This kid may have hated McNair, but I strongly doubt that he had the opportunity to do anything about it. His stuff is obviously the rage of the impotent, and that’s all.
This was a disturbed girl. I think we can all agree that McNair shouldn’t have been with her. He made a mistake, no doubt about it. Maybe he deserved some marriage counseling, I don’t know. Certainly he didn’t deserve to die just for picking up some two-bit waitress at a bar somewhere. If that were a hanging offense, half of this planet would be dead already.

People should be absolutely ashamed of themselves
For the stories like Whitlock writes. Whatever happened to things like respect for the dead or journalistic integrity? Everyone is so quick to write about dirt and speculation. They talk about how they feel sorry for his kids and family but they constantly make it worse by writing stories that bash Mcnair.
Disgraceful.
