Michael Vick Gets Some Type of Reinstatement to the NFL
Roger Goodell announced today that Michael Vick is free to sign with a team in the NFL, but since it is Goodell who has taken it upon himself to be lord of the universe, there is more to it than that. This from the AP:
Vick can immediately participate in preseason practices, workouts and meetings and can play in the final two preseason games....Once the season begins, Vick may participate in all team activities except games, and Goodell said he would consider Vick for full reinstatement by Week 6 (Oct. 18-19).
In case you have been under a rock for the past few year, Vick served 20 months in prison on dog fighting charges. Those 19 months started in December of 2007. How in the world does Goodell not know by now what further punishment he is going to hand down?
I understand he committed a heinous crime, but it is time to let him back in the league if anyone wants to sign him. He has paid his debt.
CJ agrees:
THE NFL TRIPPIN THEY NEED TO LET MIKE VICK PLAY HE ALREADY BEEN IN JAIL 2 YEARS DAMN WTF IM UPSET
(hat tip smash and bonzos)
Now the questions becomes who, if anyone, is going to bring him in. There will be a huge backlash against whichever team decides to do it, but the man has skills. That will get him at least one more shot.

IMO
Vick is getting 6 games because of the gambling charges he copped to and lying to Czar Goodell, plain and simple.

is a controlling diva. he sees himself as the grand high dictator of all things related to the NFL. he hasn’t had a chance to punish vick yet, and he will be damned if the opportunity to play morality police passes him by.

this to me is ridiculous.....................
Michael Vick has served his time if they wanted to suspend him they should have had it run concurrent to his jail sentence. Same thing to me with the whole Plaxico Burress situation. Goodell is just power hungry and wants to make sure that everyone in the NFL knows who the BOSS is.

I don't know if I agree with that.
The NFL is a private organization, and it’s under no obligation to fall in line with the policies of the US justice system. However, I agree that the time to announce the concrete resolution of the matter is well past. I could easily live with a Lifetime Ban, if it had been announced the day his sentence was announced. Anything is fine, really, but the way that the Commish is trying to sample the air of public opinion in advance of making any move, that to me is little much given the moralizing he uses when he eventually announces his decisions.

Whata weirdo
He just wants us to lean in a little closer everytime he speaks so that we might actually listen to what the hell he is saying.
I’m not hearing Goo-dell until I hear some of the following key words:
“celebration” “end zone” “new” “overtime” “rules”
If any yuns hear him utter those, call me and I’ll watch. Otherwise, I don’t care if he holds a press conference from the moon.
Although, to give some credit, the guy was a bad ass out of the gate. Say, his first few years or so as the man. Now, … Now, just sick of ’em.
