Tennessee Titans Morning Links: Haye In The Shade Edition
Terry McCormick catches up with Dave Ball, who is adjusting to playing on the left side this year, where he'll line-up opposite of Boom King. Ball is also adjusting to not getting cut.
Crazy Legs and LenDale are taking shots at each other on Twitter and via the media, with some seeing the 2nd year stud as looking more and more selfish. Personally, I hope they both play angry... I'd love to see two 1,000 yard rushers.
Keith Bulluck got a custom-made cowboy hat from Tim McGraw.
The competition for the kick and punt return spots won't start until minicamps in a month, but Gary Estwick has an early look at the potential applicants. I better not see Cortland Finnegan or Michael Griffin back there either.
Here are some good notes, including one on Jovan Haye learning new techniques.
Peter King chimes in on the VY-Collins mentor/mentee relationship again in his mail bag column.
Ross Tucker talks with current players, all of whom are interested in broadcasting after they retire, about current broadcasters.
Now that the slower period of the off-season is upon us your help in finding out of the way Titans stories is more important than ever. If you have a link you'd like to submit for tomorrow's Morning Links email me at mcmaugustwest@gmail.com! (Be sure to include your commenting handle so I can give you glowing, semi-anonymous credit.)

Is it just me?
Or is this more than just “playful jabs”:
“You know how when you have a little brother and he gets beat up his whole life and then you grow up and are bigger than him and he can’t beat you up any more? I think that is what he is going through right now,” Johnson said. “LenDale is having a hard time handling it all.”
White called Johnson a “coach’s pet,” adding, “He is a little delirious. When he wakes up out of the dream he’ll be all right. And the one thing about dreams is they are not real. So if you’re the coach’s dream, you are not real. … I don’t know him right now. I think it’s the Pro Bowl stuff — ya’ll created somebody we don’t want to see.”

Yeah, it's getting a little heated
It reminds of me when a friend would playfully push you so you would push back, just a little bit harder, so he does it back too, and it’s all under the guise of playful shoving, but eventually you start getting pissed and nearly coming to blows. That’s what this reminds me of.
Frankly, I don’t really mind it, to echo what August said. You don’t exactly need to keep a cool head to play Runningback well, and the emotion and adrenaline of a competition between the two might actually help. Hopefully nobody does something stupid in Training Camp and goes too hard and gets injured.

Anybody see the comments from the Haynesworth interview?
The most interesting piece is when he says it was “time for me to go.” I mean, I can see what he’s saying. He thinks he has changed and developed a much better work ethic over time in Tennessee, but he doesn’t think the Titans’ brass was capable of seeing it because they remember him as an immature kid. And I can understand that. Still, it’s pretty damned easy to see this as the first step in a slide towards Lack of Motivation. Clearly, there is no one in Washington pushing Big Al. So then, if he’s not pushing himself, well, that spells serious problems for them.

No pressure?
If I was a Redskins fan or coach I’d be pretty uneasy. You mean a $100 Million contract doesn’t make you feel any pressure to perform?

I think the 40 million guaranteed alleviates any pressure.

Exactly.
And I gotta say, this is the first time I’ve ever seen anyone even obliquely imply that Fisher works his guys too hard. Most of these guys say that he has a very, very good feel for how to work the team and when to rest them. The idea that Big Al felt he was being pushed too much would really, really scare me as a Redskins fan.
