Vince Young Talks to the Local Media (Audio)
It would really behoove him to just keep his mouth shut.

I think for once
He’s saying the right things. For him to regain the respect of his teammates as a leader he has to manage the PR aspect. He sounds humble (a change in tone), and he sounds driven.
He’s accepted his fate, and let’s all be honest, there is a reasonable chance that Collins goes down and Vince gets his chance this year to do something.
He’s not the brightest kid, but he’s learning to cope with the adversity (something he never had his entire career).
This was a positive interview.

It was fine...
but how does he expect anyone to believe that he didn’t quit on the team after saying he didn’t want to play for the rest of the season in the E:60 piece? He got a little testy when the question was asked, but he is the one that re-opened that door.

Where do you get this information
I’m getting really tired of everyone saying that Vince Young has never been through adversity. The guy was hounded at Texas for a year and a half. For those of you who make blanket statements about players like Vince Young, but know absolutely zero about the past, maybe you should check your facts before you post on that person. Vince played his RS Freshman year and was not great to say the least. Texas played Washington State in a Bowl Game and was BENCHED!!!! at halftime for Chance Mock. The entire offseason the local paper, www.statesman.com, railed that he should be moved to WR. Oh, excuse me, they didn’t rail, they used the “journalistic” trick of saying “Some Insiders Say Vince should be moved to WR”, clever journalists with their “Journalism” degrees.
Your post was positive, so I aplogize Beans for replying so forcefully. This is a MYTH about Vince, plain and simple. Like Tennessee, Alabama, and other big time football schools, the entire city and sports radio, paper etc. is built around Texas Football. Vince was trounced non-stop (not as bad as Simms was trounced). He was booed—-oh yeah Titans fans, he’s been booed before, by us devoted Texas fans. Mid season his RF Soph year he went something like 3-12 passing, either against Kansas or Missouri, the exact game escapes me. There were MAJOR doubts, out loud, among huge portions of the Loud (and wealthy) boosters up until he got off against Michigan in the Rose Bowl.
So for posters who spread this myth (including Peter King at SI) Please, I’m begging you, quit saying things that are not true, it ruins the discussion and is very embarrassing.

I agree completely
Jimmy, there is no excuse, he needs to change his attitude.
I’m personally getting as frustrated with the Coaching Staff as I am with Vince. You’ve got a great talent (foolish and cocky or not) that can be utilized. Is the offensive staff not open minded enough to find a way to tap that talent? Other than Chris Johnson (and Lendale here and there) the offense was not good last year. 13 wins or not, I just don’t see the offense doing much to make me say Wow, good thing they are using this philosiphy. Fisher’s D philosiphy and coaching skills, up there with the Best in the league. He can find a way to get Vince making plays in my opinion, put him in the gun, move the pocket etc. Just saying here’s my offense, you’ve got to be able to run it isn’t working. In my opinion, putting Collins in there and saying run that offense isn’t going to work either, I’ve got nothing against him….I thought we should have drafted him over McNair back in the day because we needed a QB soon, and couldn’t wait 2 or 3 years to develop one.
I watched my team stick with the Run N Shoot…even when trying to run out the clock, now the team is the opposite, run only…the days of Vince Lombardi saying seal here and winning championships is gone. Coaches have to be able to change things up, and offensively this staff isn’t doing it and it’s going to piss away a dominant D.

I don't really take
anything he says at face value this late from the event anyway. But just like he needs plenty of practice with the ball this off season, some practice talking is probably good too. No seriously, it’s all part of climbing out of the isolation box.

Just two months ago:
“I am just going to keep my mouth closed, man. All I am doing this year is shutting up, just shutting up and working,” Young said. "I am going to smile and shut up and continue being Vince Young, a happy smiling guy. I am not going to get into the hoopla any more because of the fact I can’t win any more, I see.

Talk show
VY is not going to be playing QB for awhile. He could use this time to start a talk show. He’s a sharp guy. Well spoken…

Trolling
So, what is that? I guess I’m still green. Me interacting here is trolling…or am I being insulting?

Trolling is the art
of purposely trying to evoke hostile reactions from other people on boards. Trolling masters are able to troll without it being obvious that they are trolling. True masters can hijack an entire thread. One measure of a great troll is the ration of posts by the troller to violent reactive posts to their post(s). One troll post that causes hundreds of reaction posts without the troller ever responding is a timeless classic.

Sorry
ratio, not ration. How come we still don’t have an edit button! The masses want an edit button!

I'm ashamed to say...
I almost did, gramsey. But did not. That is maturation, is it not?
