Boldin Update

It seems like most of us have moved on but I know there are still a few people here that are still holding out hope for a Boldin trade, so here is the latest news from the ESPN Insider Rumor Mill:

Earlier this morning on Drew Rosenhaus' Twitter feed, the super-agent posted an update on Anquan Boldin's situation relating to his long-term status as a member of the Arizona Cardinals: "I still believe Anquan will be traded before training camp. I hope to work together with the Cardinals to resolve this situation by then."

Wow.

Things did cool down a bit after the draft, since the Philadelphia Eagles, New York Giants and Tennessee Titans all drafted a wide receiver in the first round, but there's already at least one team unhappy with their current slate of wideouts. As noted in yesterday's update, the Baltimore Ravens are bringing in a motley crew of veteran receivers for tryouts this weekend, and this is an indication that they're still trying to improve their corps of pass-catchers. It hasn't been confirmed how much the Ravens offered the Cards for Boldin (or if they offered anything) before the draft, but things have a way of changing over the course of the summer. Additionally, the teams who used a first round pick on a receiver could also be interested: wide receivers tend to have a pretty steep learning curve during their first NFL season, and all three of those teams figure to be Super Bowl contenders.

Regarding the timing of such a deal, it will probably not happen for another month or so, given that teams will try to fully ascertain what they've already got. But given the willingness on the part of Cardinals management to listen to offers, and Boldin's interest in getting a fresh start for another franchise, this blockbuster could still happen."

Announcing things via Twitter?  I dont like where things are heading.  As far as Boldin is concerned, I'm not surprised his agent would make a statement like that since they're still negotiating.  In the end though, its gonna be Arizona, and not Rosenhaus, who decides on wether they'll move Boldin or not.  Don't expect anything soon.  They mention Boldin to the Ravens, aka Everyone's Worst Nightmare, but it seems like just pure speculation seeing as how they're not even sure if the Ravens have even talked to Arizona.  It seems like the only basis they have for that rumor is that tha Ravens WR's are bad.

Yeah...I don't like the way that Twitter is becoming a reliable source

since it is probably as easy, if not easier to hack as an email account.

Cardinals don't wanna deal Boldin...

The Cards were playing Boldin like an idiot. Pretending to manufacture a market and coming back to him with a shrug and saying “sorry guy, nobody wants you badly enough”.

Endgame for the Cards is that he will stay in AZ, get paid less than he is worth, and eventually get over his grudge at FO.

Rosenhaus is trying to entice other teams to push the situation out into the open. When Jeff Fisher comments publicly that the Cards didn’t return his calls, that’s a dead giveaway that the Cards weren’t serious and negotiating in bad faith. They just didn’t expect to get called out on it.

If it gets messy enough, the Cards may be forced to trade, but I assume Rosenhaus in reality is holding out only a minor hope for this.

Boldin will be a Raven

Sorry guys, but Boldin will be dealt to the Ravens before this is all said and done. The Ravens have a lot to offer Arizona with the likes of Todd Heap (who is born and raised in AZ), Kelley Gregg (To sure up the Card’s D-Line), and a 2010 Draft Pick. I know that this news dissappoints all of you Titans fans out there, but the truth isn’t always easy to accept. And as for the guy who said that this “rumor” was only proving that Baltimore had bad receivers must have missed the game that the Ravens won down there in Nashville last winter. In fact, one of the receivers that burned the Titans was Derrick Mason, and you all should remember him well.

by laxman24 on May 8, 2009 6:35 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Todd heap is still alive?

as for tha bad WR comment, it was espn who made it and not me. this is from the ESPN Rumor Mill tha day before the Boldin post:

There’s desperate, and then there’s “inviting Jerry Porter for a workout” desperate. The latter is the situation that currently befalls the Baltimore Ravens, as Porter is one of four veteran wide receivers who will be in town for tryouts this weekend. According to The Baltimore Sun, Porter will be joined by Kelley Washington, D.J. Hackett and Tab Perry.
A team official told the Sun that after the workouts, the team could sign any or none of the players, and that an announcement was likely on Monday. This workout schedule is also an indication that the team is still in need of some wide receiver help, and comes on the same day as a report that says Derrick Mason will be held out of minicamps as a precautionary measure. Bottom line: It looks as though the Ravens may regret not pulling the trigger on a trade for either Braylon Edwards or Anquan Boldin, and if things get more desperate, we can expect those rumors to pick back up.

You're not foolin me Kerry Collins.

Phhhhpthhpth

Coming from a fanbase that knows what suckiness in the receiving department looks like, your receivers do suck. sorry. DMace is good, but one good route runner doth not make up for overall suckiness. Mason had more yards and as many touchdowns last season as the entire rest of your receiving corps, at 34 years of age and with a crap shoulder.

As to your last couple of sentences: Remember Wanda.

I tweeted to Rich Eisen and he responded!

I’ve been on Twitter for over a year now and can say it’s the coolest social media outlet on the web.

I sent a tweet to Rich Eisen saying “shut up about Favre already”

He responded that they were discussing it for Sage’s reaction – this was a few days ago.

I’ve received tweets back from other celebrities including Ashton Kutcher. It’s a unique phenomenon because you have direct access to people and its not out of the ordinary to get an unexpected response.

Follow me http:/twitter.com/rodneycreative1

The new search option is an excellent way to get info on hot topics and trends. Also, there are tons of applications available like Tweetdeck that help you track what’s being said online about a particular topic. Tweets are even showing up in Google searches.

Basically, you sign up and start following people.

As you follow what people are saying, you join the conversation by placing an @ symbol before their name. It will show in the conversation stream.

Many people are transitioning from traditional email to Twitter through the use of Tweets and Direct Messages.

The more active you are, the more people will begin following you.

Twitter is the best way to follow a breaking news story. Users are eager to post original pictures, video, and accounts of breaking news.

The benefit for celebrities is that they can interact with fans from an arms length distance in an intimate way.

If you want to learn more, do a Wikipedia search for Twitter.

I participate each year in two significant new, media events in Nashville. Podcamp and Barcamp. Both these events promote the “digital lifestyle” for Nashville.

I must admit, I’ve learned the majority of advanced techniques and applications in social media, from Dave Delaney. You can follow him at twitter.com/davedelaney. He lives in Nashville and is not only the number one Twitterer in Nashville, but the person responsible establishing events like Podcamp, Geek Breakfast, and other digital lifestyle events in Nashville. His blog, http://blog.davemadethat.com is a must to subscribe to for anyone wanting to learn about social media. He’s also the social media manager for Griffin Technology

obscure movie reference

translation: we hope to return the favor soon.

Really, your receiver corps isn’t in good shape, whatever games you won last season. We were 13-3 last season, and we weren’t on crack about our receivers. A turd is a turd even if it’s in a nice yard.

by numbertenox on May 8, 2009 11:19 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Whatever

Yeah 13-3 with a loss in the playoffs when it counted most. The Ravens will be much better next season as well. I’d crap my pants if Kerry Collins pulls off another season like the one he just had. Never gonna happen.

by laxman24 on May 9, 2009 6:16 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

I wouldn't

make promises to crap in your pants if x happens. I did that last pre-season on this site and discovered posters here have good memories.

collins really didn’t have that great a season. It was OK, but not great. Not getting sacked hardly ever is partial credit to him, but big part offensive line. His passing numbers nothing to write home about. He’s what we need right now, I’m not complaining, but he’s not the big factor in whether we have as outstanding a regular season as we did last year. Flaco had a great year. Collins had an OK year with only a handful of games that he really put on his back and won for us.

I think we got better this offseason, especially at receiver. Could be wrong, but sure seems like finding just about anybody to put in place of Justin MacCareins is going to be a big improvement. Losing Albert obviously hurt, but we have a lot of defensive depth still. Hitting 13-3 or better again is awfully hard to do, though. Most of us here really don’t care that much about that though, we just want to win some post-season games. Too many first game outs in recent years.

by numbertenox on May 9, 2009 6:34 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

The Titans Organization is one of the better ones

Obviously I am a Ravens fan. But in all honesty, I (and just about all of us up here in Baltimore) have a tremendous amount of respect for the Tennessee Titans. The great season you guys put together last year is a credit to Jeff Fisher and the outstanding job that he does coaching. He really knows how to get the job done without the superstar players on his roster. Don’t get me wrong, the Titans definitely have some awesome players. But my point is that not many teams can lose perrenial pro-bowlers like Haynesworth and still have a shot to compete the following year. All that being said, the Ravens and Titans have had some epic battles over the years, and I’m sure that we will have more in the future.

If you didn’t cheap shot CJ out of the game, you’da gotten manhandled. its that simple. its okay though, b/c we got to see you get murdered in the AFC championship vs the team you cant beat. And we’ll get ya next time- hopefully this year Wild Card Weekend when we stomp you in your nest.

30 Yards?

You mean “like” 391 yards? And we only gave up 211 yards. 95 out of 100 times a team that nets nearly 200 more yards than their opponent is going to win.

One more thing trash boy

Hey INFISHERWETRUST one last thing. I was reviewing some of your past comments and you use the word “trash” in like every one of them… Either you actually live in a Tenn trailer park, or you really need to come up with some new material. And you said that some clown was the next Ed Reed?? Let me tell you something pal.. I know that you wish that Ed Reed was on your team, but he isn’t and nobody else is like him so keep dreaming loser. Just like your dreams of actually winning a championship. Nothing but a damn joke son. You need to wake up and take a look at reality playa. If you’re not Pitt, Bal, or New England you have no shot at a superbowl next season or anytime soon.

First and foremost wasn't this post supposd to be about a Boldin update...............

Secondly who cares about your idoitic opinion ratboy, you need to take Faultimore out of that If you’re not Pitt, Bal, or New England comment and realize that Faultimore is not an elite team. What happend to your boy Ray Lewis, oh yeah thats right nobody else wanted his old saggy ass, so he went back to the Faultimore Gayvens with his head down and his tail stuck between his legs. Oh and who wants Ed Reed, fuck him he’s a dirty ass bitch and has no integrity, cuz him and Faultimores D were gettin dicked down like a 18 year old porn star by Chris “Crazy Legs” Johnson until he made that dirty ass play. Fuck you and your Faultimore Gayvens, eat a dick and go sit on a scarecrow where you belong FAGGOT!

Oh yeah Boldin

That’s right the point is that Boldin is Going to be a Raven before training camp ladies. And yeah you’re right Ed Reed sucks. Who would want an interception machine on their team that runs back like 75% of his picks to house?? Yeah what bum that guy is.. Seriously do you hear yourself dude? Go ahead and get pissed off, but make comments that make sense bro. Faultimore Gayvens?? Is that the best you got man? What the hell is Faultimore supposed to mean anyway? Is it supposed to be an insult? I’m not reading you here Sally.. And unfortunately for you guys the Titans didn’t have D Mason around to teach Crazy Legs how to play through a little pain. Mason was catching balls for us when it mattered most with one fucking arm. Now that is a soldier my friend.. Why the hell would the Titans ever let that guy go? Hate the game not the playa Sally

Silver lining?

If last season’s playoff loss to the Ravens has a silver lining, here it is. This off-season the Titans addressed everything that went wrong in that game, except fumbles and penalties! If CJ goes down we now have Ringer. If we need to pass more, we have Washington, Britt, and Cook. If a corner goes down, we have more quality depth. We’re also gonna have the deepest D-Line rotation in the NFL!

Awwww my bad

Did I ruffle a few feathers ladies?? Sorry if my comments offended you so much. Grow up and take your medicine like a man. If talkin a little football gets you that pissed then play soccer or root harder next time your team has its back agains the wall at home in the playoffs when it matters most. And dude if you’re gonna bash the Ravens then state the obvious about us, which is that our pass attack was 28th in the NFL. Then you would at least have a f-ing point, but to say that Ray Lewis isn’t anything less than the best Middle Linebacker of all time is just nonsense. Ask the fullback from the Titans that Ray Ray dropped the hammer on in your house!!! Dude that guy was a monster and Sugar Ray upended that clown, knocked his helmet clean off, and jarred the ball lose all in the same hit! Love or hate the Ravens you can’t say Ray isn’t incredible.

If Ray Lewis was so great why couldn't he.....................

stop Eddie George in the playoffs, If Ray Lewis is so great then why didn’t he get signed by someone other than Faultimore? Oh yeah that’s right because no1 wanted to spend big free agent money on a old broken down linebacker. I’ll give you props Ray was good but to say he was the best all time your foolin yourself. Hes not better than Lawrence Taylor, Dick Butkiss, Derrick Thomas, James Harrison, Junior Seau, Mike Singletary, Tom Jackson, Bill Romanowski or even Jack Lambert, that’s why Rex Ryan took Bart F’ing Scott instead Ray Lewis to lead the New York Jets Defense. Wonder why your own defensive coordinator would do that if Ray Ray was so great, maybe he sees something that you and the rest of the Faultimore Gayvens didn’t. The fact that Ray Lewis although he was good, is old and saggy as i was saying before. So go sit on a scare crow and eat some corn Rat boy.

Hold that thought

Dude we have had 5 different D-Coordinators since we’ve had Ray Lewis and our D has always been dominant. Rex was a great guy but trust me we will not lose a step. And just watch pussy when Ray does what he always does and leads our defense to be suffocating. All of those players that you mentioned all had one thing that Ray did not… An offense. What makes Ray better is the fact that he made our team great just on defense. We were 28th in the league last year in passing (like we are every year) and still made it to the AFC championship. You think that happens by mistake son? And as far as Bart Scott is concerned, he is a great player with a lot of heart but two words for you… Edgerton Hartwell. Everyone thought that he was the best player ever when he played for us but he left and went to Atlanta and nobody has heard of him since. Our defensive system is the BEST and our system is Ray Lewis. Say whatever you want Sally but look at the numbers year after year after year. Our defense is ALWAYS TOP FIVE and I promise you that it will be again this year. Thats Sugar Ray baby.
